    In my opinion. Razer should streamline the naming of their mice. "Pro" for lightweight and pure performance mice and "Ultimate" for feature packed mice. That would somehow ease the confusion.

  • @Armegon

    I won't lie, as someone who literally mains only mice below 60g, the Cobra Pro was a breath of fresh air. Every mouse this year has been so similar to each other that I can't help but be bored by the market. A lot of love to Lamzu, Ninjutso, Darmoshark and Pulsar for what they've done. I love their stuff, but the market was really getting boring.

      It is a very stupid take because weight isn't subjective. It's just a clear downgrade. Being different doesn't mean it's already good, and I can name many examples of this but I think the point is already very clear

    • @TeaTehMan
      @TeaTehMan ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@niar69downgrade can still be a good thing though? Many people like the lets say a delux m800 which still weights around the same as cobra pro. Weight is ofc subjective and person preference, but not all mices nowadays GOTTA be 60g and below, like man that would just get boring seeing new mices but with the same grams everytime. Sometimes downgrade can make a customer/consumer enjoy too.

    Techne I need a suggestion. I’ve been looking around for a speaker system to work with my monitor. Right now I run both a laptop and ps4 to the monitor depending on what I’m playing. Therefore I need one to hook into my monitor directly so I don’t need to keep unplugging or switching the wireless. The port is a 3.5mm audio port and I’d like it to be mainly good for story games as I’ll likely use a headset for fps type games. Thank you so much if you have any suggestions I just can’t seem to find anything.

  • @calmsh0t

    It could've been so.. sooooo easy for razer. They already have the design of the mini, they have the tech of the v2 pro. All they had to do was to spend minimal resources and put the v2 pro internals (which are already insanely small) in a viper mini shell and boom, done. Call it v2 pro mini, everyone would've been happy. But no, they decided to go with a product so damn terrible that I cannot see any market for it. Casuals don't buy gaming mice for 100$+. They buy something awful like a g502 on sale and be happy with it for the next 6-7 years. I have no idea how the cobra pro made it any further than being an idea...

    I like the direction Pulsar is going in with the "e-sports" classification. That's not ambiguous and presumably no marketing department would try to hijack the name for a feature rich and more general consumer oriented mouse.

    I actually feel like the cobra pro is a really good match for me. Im not the type of guy to sacrifice everything for a lighter mouse. Considering what I play, the cobra pro’s rgb and feel is exactly what I need, if only it was balanced instead of back heavy. Maybe a few years down the road it will become dirt cheap like the deathadder v2 pro cause nobody is gonna buy it, which is probably going to be my time to buy it.

    • @entropicity
      @entropicity ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually it is clearly defined.. you just need to realign your interpretation
      Pro = Tier 1 models ( be it esports (DAv3 Pro, Viper V2 Pro, with lightweight, minimal frills) or maximum features (Basilisk V3 Pro, Cobra Pro, with max RGB, wireless charging, wireless and bluetooth)
      non-Pro = Tier 2
      X = Tier 3
      Now look at all of Razer's recent products with this in mind and its very clear.

    • @Danny-th5xn
      @Danny-th5xn ปีที่แล้ว

      @@entropicity I get what you mean by tiers. Expensive, mid-range, and cheap. But “pro” meaning lightweight, minimal frills or feature packed is confusing already. Why not use “Ultra” for feature packed and “pro” for lightweight, minimal? Few Professional FPS gamers are going to use feature packed mice…. They prefer no frills and lightweight.

    • @entropicity
      @entropicity ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Danny-th5xn if you just consider "pro" the top tier in eSports and full feature pack product ranges without linking pro to "pro gamers" it will be clear. Understand that it can be confusing and companies like Apple have done the same mixing up Pro and Ultra and even Max in the past.

    I just got this one a day ago and start my time with it, I dont have any issues with the mouse being its own mouse, its not named the Viper mini, its the COBRA BUT I think they should at least take maybe a little bit of teh RGB and only put it on the logo maybe the bluetooth so they can reduce a little bit the weight, as a smaller mouse you can feel the weight a lot more than other mice. Its almost the same weight as the original g pro and this feels like a heavier mice and my far.

    I feel like I would be one of the people that the Cobra is aimed at, not super light but has all the premium features. Razer should however have a structure for their all of their mice lines (Basilisk, Cobra, Viper, Deathadder etc)
    - "Mini" which is trimmed down size/features cheaper
    - "Pro" lightweight that is affordable mid range
    - "Lux" Range that has all the bells and whistles with a bit more weight (premium)

    It gives me the imIt gives me the impression that the deathadder v3 was the new Mamba but they didn't want to call it that and they used a name with more marketing like deathadder. On the other hand I like the cobra, it seems good to me that they give more options then the client will decide if you want to buy it or not

  • @rvs55
    @rvs55 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    The main issue with the Cobra is that it's neither here nor there.
    Not enough buttons to be a multi-button MOBA mouse, nor is it lightweight enough to be a dedicated shooter mouse.
    What would have been amazing would be a Basilisk wireless that weighs 65g.
    But I guess the Aerox 5 wireless already beat Razer to the game.

    I think the name change makes sense here because the shape of the "Viper Mini" isnt just a trimmed down Viper its got a different hump position, etc,etc. Just like how you mention the DAV3 having a different shape. They missed the mark on the naming of the Cobra Pro and it should have been the Cobra Ulimate or Choma wireless. The updated cobra wired fits into the market perfectly. I think people feel this takes the place of what should have been "Viper Mini V2 pro". I have a feeling that mouse is still coming. Razer said on reddit about a year ago that they had a new mouse line coming with a new shape, technically this isnt a new shape. A DAV3 Mini or VMV2 Pro is what the enthusiast community wanted. TBH im surprised that razer has yet to come out with a Artisan Quality mousepad yet either, if there was a big brand name company to sell a $100 cloth pad it would be Razer.

    The way I see it. The cobra pro is the lightest mouse razer offers with all the bells and whistles. It's wireless, its got the wireless charging, its got all the rgb (Some people find that important and im all for personalizing your setup) Its still got the DPI switches up top and it only weighs 3 more grams than the viper ultimate. While its not for me as I do like my ultralight mice. Compared to everything else, there just aren't mice that are trying to be more feature dense whilst keeping down weight, especially in razer's lineup. To get something similar in feature set, youd get the basilisk V3 pro. Sure, you do get a couple more features, but it weighs 35g more. The cobra pro feels like it took every compromise all their other mice had to take, and bundled it together in a way that made it feel like youre not missing out as much.

    Might be a complete outlier (or just an old man), but my wrist hurts whenever I use those 'esports' lightweight mouse. I am so glad that there is a slightly heavier mouse (honestly, it's still prety darn light imo). Not everyone plays better because their mouse is 20g or 40g, and not everyone plays competitive FPS all the time. And I 100% appreciate RGB (wish that DeathAdder V3 Pro had some RGB lol). Also, it's important to note that build quality of a mouse is as important as its weight... I've use lightweight cheap brands that break on me after 3 months.
    While everyone is getting agitated about how it not super duper lightweight and getting all upset about it - there are people like me who don't really care much for it being featherweight. Gonna cop one to try it out because the 'negatives' in all the reviews so far seems to be just disappointment of not getting a lightweight wireless mini mouse - that's all. The mouse itself doesn't seem bad at all.
    Lastly, I think Razer renamed this mouse to "Cobra" because it isn't a Viper Mini.... And they are right, it isn't a Viper Mini Wireless. LOL

    Really enjoying the small size of the viper mini a wireless version would of been really cool for a reasonable price 90 to 100 maybe? Instead its a 130 dollar mouse thats completely from a standard viper mini. Feel like building brand back up by actually releasing great gaming mice and taking community feedback and telling everyone that a viper mini wireless will come just for this is really disappointing.

    I was alway told in school and college classes. You're always going to be inspired by someone or something, no matter what. They would had the viper and the cobra, on a drawing board and would had taken the designs and combined them. To then just call it the cobra X as an example. Clearly it design was inspired by the viper. If everyone is seeing the viper design, thats no coincidence.

    idk personally razer is all over the place. easiest way to fix it is change all the feature rich mice to ultimate. and change all the cutdown lightweight ones to pros. not saying one is better than the other just different. then also fix the price points. standard wired

    People just wanted a Razer Viper Mini ultimate (smaller/lighter version of the Viper Ultimate (this mouse gets a chefs kiss from me)). They got a smaller yet heavier mouse with more RGB (which most competitive gamers at any level don't care about). I personally like the Cobra, the RGB is good for my Goku influenced setup but I'm not a competitive gamer. They should just release a Viper Mini Ultimate, exact same as the Viper Ultimate but smaller that's what their customers want.

    When I hear the word PRO with I can only think of "here we go another ESports gaming mouse and $$$$ product. But if I had to choose a name for the Deathadder V3,4,5 PRO mouse I would give it something fresh like maybe Razer Deathstar V3 Pro lol.

    Here's what I think.
    They're gonna offer the Cobra as a feature packed mini.
    And they're gonna release an updated Viper mini with wireless and such just like the Viper V2.
    All these tech youtubers getting all bent out of shape just because they don't make exactly what you want immediately is just kinda dumb.
    All youtubers nowadays seem to believe all PC gamers are hardcore FPS gamers(I am) and the only mice worth making are hardcore FPS mice. Which is just a very skewed perspective on gaming in general. There are far more people who use budget mice, monitors and PC's in general than any of these high-end peripherals. And even when it comes to high end peripherals, the FPS - packed with features ratio is still 1-8 ratio easily.
    All this kind of content does is discourage companies from introducing variety into their production lines as they get a ton of negative PR from tech youtubers who only want one specific things and skew the views of "loyal" followers who blindly listen to what's being said.

    Too expensive for what it is, especially at that weigh. 78 grams is heavy. Of course, your grip, playstyle, and sensitivity play a big role too. I, personally, perform noticeably better on lighter mice. Even the 67 gram M42 wireless feels heavy compared to sub 60g mice. So far, my best peformer is the x2 mini. Have an Atlantis mini on the way to try out. If I had the money, I would also get the coming Starlight 12 Cheetah (small), but Ive never tried that size so I dont even know if Ill do good with it. Too big of a risk for how much it costs. Maybe I could sell it if I dont like it. We will see when it comes out. And I dont know anyone in person who even knows what a Finalmouse is, so I cant even try one from a friend before I buy it.

    This mouse does not deserve the hate it gets, which can get out of hand sometimes. However, I do understand where most people are coming from. Razer should be accountable, but the way most people are tackling the situation is not good at all as well. Razer must handle the criticism professionally and act accordingly. Business is still business after all.
    Razer needs to properly name their products. Why call a feature-rich mouse "Pro" when they have the "Ultimate" for it? I mean, seeing the name Pro, many would expect it to be in-line with the Viper V2 Pro and Deathadder V3 Pro.
    Honestly, I was expecting them to at least relaunch some of their previous mice such as the Mamba and the Diamondback. The Diamondback is a potential seller since it is a symmetrical and ambidextrous mouse. Diamondback Pro??? Mamba Ultimate??? Hell, they could even bring back the Ouroboros if they want to for giggles. That would be cool.
    Regarding the Mamba because I truly love that mouse!
    When I first saw the Deathadder V3, my mind went "that could have been the Mamba" because they definitely took notes from the Mamba and it felt really weird seeing how iconic the Deathadder design was. The original design of the Deathadder was well-received by both "casual" and "hardcore" gamers alike.
    For me, it was definitely a case of why-fix-something-that-still-works. This seemed like an actual replacement of not only the Deathadder but the Mamba as well, unlike with the case of the Cobra and the Viper Mini.
    The Deathadder V3 should have been the Mamba relaunch. However, I have no qualms about it now. I still am hoping they have future plans for the Mamba (and the Diamondback).

    For me the only way to understand Something Pro is Something Better. Just like Ultimate. Razer Viper. Razer Viper Better. Razer Viper Betterer.
    To me they just decided so many Vipers were getting out of hand and they could as well rename the Viper Mini to Cobra taking advantage of the slight redesigns. The wired not only has almost the same shape, it has the same sensor (8400 DPI max? That got to be pmw3369).

    Agree, If the mouse was called something else besides "PRO" most people would have been more open to the mouse, and let's get the "elephant" out of the room here... weight in a gaming mouse is an subjective opinion and is not the reason that sets a good mouse to another for even pros at the highest level , Like heck! I still love and use my G703 100g mouse! but I also still love a lightweight mouse as well, alot comes down to Size, mouse pads, surfaces and skates etc.. I could go on, but let's face it, most people that game on a PC are probably still use a G502 or something like that because it safe mainstream and consumer friendly. it's only the Neche buyers like myself that have about 10-15 mouse laying around in my room looking and testing out for the bleeding edge tech that works for me. So for most main consumers the new Razer Cobra Pro mouse could be a real bannger. It just might upset the Neche buyers that might be after that "Pro" edge that that seems to be lightweight slippery and wall hack material.

    My opinion is that for a mouse which costs around $161 (the wireless one, here at my place this is what it costs, ) I would definitely say the charging deck should've been included. Like seriously, wtf. It's a wireless mouse Razer... What the hell were you thinking? :D Another think, 78g is heavy for you? Yea considering the other models it's heavy. I use an Asus ROG Pugio, guess the weight of it. without the cable it's 103 g. 🤣 At least according to it's specifications on the Asus main website. So yea, Cobra Pro would be a sweet cloud in my hands. But for $161? Jesus. In my country (Hungary) that's 55.000 Forints. Let me tell you here that the avarege salary here is around 250.000 HUF, that's the true data, not the one that was reported by the government. That's a freakin' lie. 😂

    I didn't watch this whole video. To me, Razer is just a company that likes to do things half-assed and their only claim to fame is having the beast mouse on the market with the DAV3. At the pace their competitors are moving, this probably won't change any time soon.
