Just applied it with same method and don't understood why it must be rinsed off. Glad to see your method.But, why you not use it "by the book"?
Worth trying different methods with products, it's like applying some products in hot weather you may need to use a damp microfibre towel to apply them, personally I don't mind trying different methods.
