Never seen one that embarrassed , now only old folk can come up with lines like that. I once crashed a car when i was in my teens over in New Zealand. Claude an old bloke who we all knew, who drove the rural mail car pulled up, took a good long look, then he stated "good to see you young kids are learning, Park them well off the road". Old bugger then slyly smiled and drove away. Had to walk 2 miles to my mates place for a tow. I will always remember that old mans wit.

We have a big batch near keno Oregon.
Such a delight to see something I never knew existed. A naturally red leaf pine tree. Plus the fun of seeing and meeting new people. Disasters aren't fun!!!!!!!
I love this kind of video. Those trees with snow but still showing some color, the small part in the canopy to reveal the sky, and that ribbon of road through the forest. Way cool!

Zach is always a great source of help for you. I get the heebie-jeebies when you're by yourself in the changing weather. Gorgeous scenery for this Florida gal. We don't get seasons: we just get hot, horribly hot, suffocating hot, not as hot and just miserable. A little red maple (or a red larch) would be a welcome treat in this sweaty jungle. Best wishes.
I can remember when Oregon first came out with this series of license plates and they had that tree in its gold/red stage on the plate. Lots of complaints because people didn't realize it was the Larch or Tamarack. It forced an immediate change to green, but it was a bit funny.
Awesome rescue, so glad you got the trailer out before it dumped more snow. It has been torrential downpour in PDX and the higher elevations are getting dumped with snow. Never seen alive red fir tree, so rad.

Oregon is so beautiful in winter! I really enjoyed this one, even more so with the higher quality video. Hopefully this is the new way of doing it and we will see some stunning HD scenery over the winter.
There are some old timers that I have as customers, I've told them I don't need anything it was a simple job. they insist on giving something ,and you gotta take it or they may just whip the tar out of you and put it in your pocket .
The tree looks like a bald cypress tree they are bright green under normal conditions and go through a process called Bronzing when the temperatures drop lower than normal. They thrive in areas with sun and wet soil. They prefer places with mild winters but can survive harsh conditions of the Pacific Northwest.
Friends have a huge tamarack in their yard. First fall they were in their house, the tamarack lost its needles as usual & my friend was so sad. She thought the tree had died...😁 I thought it was pretty funny, but I gently explained that they do that in the fall...Gotta admit...that's the first red one I've seen. Ours turn gold...
Nice customer and you provided a great service for him. Looked like an easy tow and you definitely took the right truck. You are way ahead of us for snow totals we have only seen a dusting here in Colorado. Remember to drive safely, always wear that seat belt, and love those round abouts. Not!

I lived south of Boston most of my life. When I retired i moved to Florida. Never really think about snow anymore. lol I love seeing the amount of snow you get. Love seeing senior citizens enjoying the outdoors. However the male bonding spoawned from vehicle problem is a rather sour subject. My trucks transmission did the dust in IDAHO, and is being rebuilt 11 driving hours from my home. I thought of you Casey. 🤔 We still had a good, slightly modified, camping trip.

What a difference between east and west! Done the tail twice, northbound each way. Folded mountains of Appalachia are awesome. It seems I get there from Wisco more often than the Rockies in Colorado where I grew up. Both make for amazing rides!

I carry tire chains for my k1500 and 20 ft R Pod. I don't plan to need them, but, safety means carry all equipment. Meantime, camping on middli fork Coquilli River, then Ore Coast.
We are still getting Rain for a while but today the 4th of November I was wearing my T-shirt and Jeans without any long underwear ... granted so close to Lake Huron and the Tawas Bay we are about 600 feet above sea level here. But I’m feeling that uneasy feeling that you have, when you know that a storm is coming and you are trying to make the most out of your day, but it just doesn’t seem like you have accomplished enough... I need a good full day of dry weather and sunshine to get the leaves picked up again... funny thing how Green the Pine trees seem to be with the rest of the leaves down! And here we have a tree called a Tamarack that is like a pine but drops all of its Needles / leaves, and looks dead till spring. They turn a bright Yellow to Orange just before they drop. In the spring till fall colors change, they resemble a Cedar. I hope that we get snow that sticks around the 12th and we get enough for Deer hunting opener on the 15th of November! Means less lost deer for tracking and a safer hunting season because there are still City people that shoot at movement in the brush. And blaze orange is the law but there’s always some one Special who doesn’t wanna play by the Rules... my running around the woods days are over, but I wanna stay warm and comfortable and I’ve got a little blind now and if I don’t want to go out I don’t. Happy snow season start for you Casey, before you know it Spring will be here. Looking forward to more adventures! And bring your Marine back out too we like to see him, besides Grumpy has earned his lazy-Boy chair and his knee needs some rest! 😊

there's a long straight stretch like that on 97 South of Chemult, I did measure it one time, I think that it was 13 miles in a straight line, with one end being a hill crest, and the other being a curve.

Used them on a feet of cars at work. They work good because they are easy to put on. You need to take them off once you are off the snow. They wear out fast on wet pavment. I have them in my car but still carry my cable chains too.

I think you will find it's a Taxodium Distichum (swamp Cyprus) the Tamarack/Larch that i believe you are talking about turns yellow, the Swamp Cyprus turns reddish bronze before shedding it's needles for the winter, The dawn redwood and bald cypress trees Also lose their needles in the fall.

Your red tree is a Tamarack/Larch. They are the only trees that shed their needles in late fall. There are tons of them in northern Ontario, Canada.

That pine tree looks like a Tamarack also known as American larch we have quite a few of them up around McCall Idaho.

I'm in lower Alabama and we're supposed to break a record today at 84 degrees. Then by end of week 60's. You never can tell in the Fall here.

Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood near Portland OR opened their ski area today. Boy, O Lord give us somemore, are reservoirs are empty!
