Our trip begins in the mountains of the Sierra Nevada’s, which just a few days prior to us arriving, was hit by a MASSIVE blizzard that closed roads, trapped 4WDers & brought temps down to well below freezing. 🌡️
We’re only a few miles from the Rubicon trailhead, which is currently buried in snow & virtually impassable - so we’re going to try push out to the old trail start via the Wentworth Springs OHV trail.
It’s a journey of just six miles, but in these conditions, whether we can make it is anyone's guess… 😳

Why no chains
Chains are great for ice, but in the snow they will dig you down into deeper ruts! Better off with super low tyre PSI in this instance - or snow tracks like the mighty Tacoma!

As a 4wd'er in Canada, and a fellow brother of the commonwealth, I will officially call you guys winter wheeling christened hahaha!... As fun as playng in the winter months can be, you have to always respect the conditons, as you sometimes become unaware of how close to your own survival you can actually get.. There have been a few moments I can say I thought I was done for.. Have fun but always stay alert to everything in your environment..

We camp all year near this area. We were setup in Gardnerville Nevada when the wind came in. I recorded a gust of 72mph. If you look at my shorts you'll see just how bad it was. We didn't loose any gear but man it was close.
So awesome. I hope the 30 has found its new home in North America for the next few years! :D

Yeah accept the tracks are all closed and you can't access them, and there's all the other restrictions not to mention vehicles restrictions but other than that it's exactly the same 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Off-roading in the snow is no joke. Frozen hands and feet from all the recoveries-it takes persistence!
Best addition for deep snow, a hefty front skid plate that goes up to the bumper so you can slide up the snow and it doesn't plow in your front end

i've got to say, the dirty 30 looks great on 37s. but it doesn't pick up on video that that they are that big.
The red wrangler gets best on ground, made most of it look relatively easy compared to the other rigs on wheels.
It’s such a great all round 4WD and Ah-Z drives it like a beast!

When wheeling through really deep snow I always found when your starting to spin out,stop when you’re down to walking speed and you can easily back up for another go, Spin the tires when you come to a stop and it’s winch and shovel time!

How good is 4WDing! I live in the middle of Sydney but my Cruiser is proper set up for the bush. Proper snorkel, lifts and custom tray.

I love this! I live in the northern parts of Sweden and we get alot of snow and get quite cold as well. I have lived and drove in snow my whole life and i dont think i ever seen anyone have so much fun as you guys having. And you are correct. Crawling works better sometime.

Come to the east coast! There isn't as much 4 wheeling tracks like the Rubicon, but if you come to Maine there is the best lobster you'll ever have.
You bloody bruces did well with the yanks, as a Saffa that has never even seen snow, hats off.
The Tacoma needed a snow plough on the front to get rid of that high middle pile of snow 😂

44:12 you could've tried dragging a spare wheel down the centre behind the Tacoma to knock the high centre down but these conditions are where the BV206 machines rule.

Wow.. pretty awesome of you guys trying to wheel in the deep snow. I've been through the entire trail twice in my Jeep. First time on 33's, front locker and 3.07 gears on a RE 3.5 lift. I was tough.. and the 2nd time was a piece of cake.. V8 318, Dana 60's, 6" long arm, 4.88's, Atlas II on 35" km2's. But there was no snow or rain. I'm in S. oregon and would have drove down to get some pictures with ya.. but I didn't know you were in town. I'm in S> Oregon and my Jeep just sits now. No trails down here.

I had a 91 Toyota pickup with 38’s and it was still IFS. I got it that way. Did a single day of snow wheeling and some normal wheeling. It did really good considering it was IFS and had the stock style torsion bars up front. No coil overs.
