I still come back to watch this... such an unforgettable era to be a gamer. Waking up on a warm summer day after staying up all night watching GDQ, this was an incredible moment to live through. What a legendary run by Pie.
Me too. Iv had this vid in my favorite list for 7 yrs n when I'm depressed or need something to listen to while I clean I always come back here. Glad I'm not alone.
I watched this back in 2013 and it still holds a special place in my heart. The atmosphere was so lively and fun. Everyone was just having a good time and this run of one my favorite games growing up was just so memorable. I also miss all the earlier GDQ guests, but now most of them are banned and they can't really share the same room anymore which is so sad. The chemistry was so natural and I feel it was really taken for granted.
Doubt you'll ever read this Pie but I was extremely sick recently and I stumbled on this speed run, I loved your guys' company so much that for an entire week I laid alone watching this run over and over. Thanks for keeping me company.
+joe shmo Blueglass literally said he got the Mega Rush badge on his first playthrough of the game, which obviously means he played it, it just means he doesn't remember too much about it.
+farstar31 I hate the people who dislike Blueglass. He's such an adorkable little sweetheart. He may laugh a little loud sometimes, but he's such a sweetheart to people you can start to overlook it, y'know? I heard that during one AG/SG that I think he went to pop in during everyone's runs. He's such a passionate little dorky thing, but I love that about him. I love how genuine he is. Blueglass really is a cool guy. I hope I get to meet him someday.
Yeah, I've never been able to get out to one of the events, but from the years I've watched the event, he's also one of the most supportive attendees. Most people just hear a game they've never heard of and don't attend. Blueglass not only attends those obscure runs, but he asks questions with such fervent curiosity. You gotta give the guy credit.
I really like his enthusiasm, still to this day. He's so sweet. Some might find his behavior annoying, but he's really nice to everyone and asking all those questions that some might would find stupid, or just adding in those nice little comments of encouragement or just pointing something that nobody else does: i.e, when he points out in either the hall-bowser or final-bowser fight that he gets frustrated when he doesn't land a hit on Mario. :)

On these videos, I have seen a great deal of hate towards Blueglass. Some comments are more respectful than others, and there is a distinct possibility that no one cares what I write, but I wanted to share my 2 cents on why Blueglass is one of the most awesome people on this show. When I was in grad school, I roomed with the Social Chair of the entire graduate school. Therefore I was volunteered every time something happened on campus. One of those events were research presentations. This is where a grad student in a plethora of disciplines would share their research with anyone who wanted to join. There were usually light to mid sized crowds at this events, but nothing extravagant. I had an opportunity to present during the fall, and I was pumped. I invited all my friends, I pulled an all nighter just to make sure my presentation was perfect, and I bought a new jacket just to look professional. On the day of the presentation, I had 5 people showed up. The moderator, 1 person from my department, 2 undergrads who needed extra credit, and my buddy Dave. I was offended, and very upset. When a handful of grad students went to the bar later that night, a couple of my friends said, "they just weren't that interested". I appreciated the honesty, but I was insulted. Dave, on the other hand, wouldn't shut up about how cool my presentation was. To put this in perspective, Dave was the kind of person who went to every presentation regardless of who it was, or what it was about. He was a person if you were having a rough day, he'd come have a drink with you. No questions asked. He'd always asked questions, and was genuinely interested in everything you had to say. However, people perceived Dave as socially awkward. He had a vivacious and unconventional laugh, he interrupted from time to time just because of his overwhelming excitement towards another person's stories and projects. People found it "irritating" and "annoying", but he didn't care about the critics, he just lived his life, and was always there for anyone. And I made sure that night, that I bought him a pitcher of whatever he wanted for just sitting in an watching my speech. In a community like speed running, you might have limited audiences. I hold Blueglass in the highest honor, for showing up, asking questions, giving his heart and soul to these projects, and just having a good time. There needs to be more people in this world like my buddy Dave, and Blueglass. Apologies for the dissertation, but I hope when any person in the comments has his/her big day, that a crowd shows up for your big accomplishment. If they don't, be sure to thank the Dave or Blueglass's in the world for being there for you.
Thank you for raising awareness and understanding for the socially awkward among us. I never thought blueglass was irritating either, just overly enthusiastic.
Late response, but I seriously see no reason for all the hate towards him. He's one of the kindest people in the speed-running community I've ever heard of or seen. I read somewhere once that he (at one of the GDQ events) made it a point to drop in to at least every run he was awake for. If that's the case (and seeing as it's BlueGlass, I can't imagine how it would be untrue), he has all the respect in the world from me and then some. He's the heart and soul of the speed-running community, in my personal opinion. He's always the one asking the possibly silly and/or stupid questions that nobody else would, or expressing joy in the runner getting something right, big or small. I think we all need a little more BlueGlass in our lives, and more people just like him around.
Not leveling up your HP? Wow....that is insanity. I was a senior in high school when this came out and still love it today. Finally replaying it after all these years...and I STILL suck at action commands -_-
Chop When you play the game as much as he has and have a good understanding of all the game's mechanics and bestiary, 10HP is plenty, and substantially faster :p
***** In PM2 5 HP is in it self too much since super guarding everything is quite easy. I usually had 15 HP because it was all I needed because I could super guard majority of attacks from the game.
***** No! I didn't mean to make you were inferior. I've had the game for about 13 years. I always play it when I'm bored or need a nostalgic blast. So about all the time. So naturally I got good at it.
This was the peak of speedrunning. Again, corporate greed has ruined something that was once beautiful. Happy I was able to watch cosmo/pie/werster in the golden era. Things just aren't the same
When the stream went down during chapter 8 was the perfect timing, right when pie says "So I'm gonna clip out of bounds." and then the stream goes out, he didn't clip out of bounds, he clip out of the stream!

Japanese games have faster text because less characters (kanji's) are use than letters in the English language. More can be said with less text, therefore takes less time to go through.
I know your comment is 7 years old, but to answer your question, it did! It was hit about 35 minutes into toufool’s Super Mario sunshine run, and it was done sometime after
Loved this game. I got it back in 2002. I remember when I was stuck on chapter 2 for 2 years. I couldn't figure out what to do. It took me so long to figure out you had to get lemons and shit. But whatever, I finally beat it when I was in 6th grade in early 2005. Huff and Puff was a bitch too, but now he's my favorite boss
Mostly people who have some authority/knowledge on the game being run. Or they're just entertaining. Or it's Blueglass, who is biologically melded with the couch and supports errybody.

one of my favorite runs to go back to, i love pie's commentary and his gameplay, one of the first things that got me into agdq
no joke i've watched this run dozens of times, i love these old events where it's just a few people in a hotel room
@@CornIsYellowtheres something magical about it and the commentary is great
I don't care what anyone says, I miss the days when it was just a bunch of people in an empty hotel room.
im 100% with you on that
i agree with you there; these days, all GDQ cares about is money. its no longer about raising money for a good cause while enjoying some games.
This comment aged very well
😎
If it was a bunch of people in a room then it wouldn't be empty would it
Man, shoutouts to Blueglass for asking questions and pointing stuff out to give the runner interesting things to talk about.
As someone who's never played this game, I thought he asked some good questions. I assume he hasn't played it before either.

this was the best gdq event. everything felt so fun and genuine. Especially this and the doo doo crew/toufool's mario sunshine run

Watching this again, Pie and Runnerguy both look so young, I mean holy crap it's only been like 2 years and yet they look 6+ years older now.
