Call me a stickler, but I like to use fresh oil on my new oil filter seal. I also like to fill up my new oil filter too.
The 2024 Silverado went back to metal drain plugs and pan. Thank God.
Thanks. I just did my first oil change ever, based on this video ❤
Great video - I particularly got a good laugh @ 9:16 when you said that's what you get for "sharing some shade" 🤣🤣
Thanks for helping us!!
ok I just did mine and I am honestly disturbed by how cheap this drain plug seems, like locking it in place doesnt feel snug at all you can so easily turn it back off, is this how it is supposed to be?! I am afraid to drive the dang thing now like one good bump and this thing could turn right out. the whole oil pan is just plastic!
Great Video
good stuff man
I'm afraid to take my truck to those oil changes places cuz they will mess it up. I think I'm going to the dealers for now until the warranty expires or at least those oil change place catches up with this trucks.
Dealer mechanics aren't any better unfortunately. Do it yourself if you want it done right.
Thanks
Who’s the genius that went with a plastic plug? Those quick oil changes are going to over torque and break it.
I don't know, its fairly stupid to have a plastic pan & plug
It’s not threaded it’s a cam lock design with a stop on it so you turn in it a half rotation and it locks up
The oil pan is plastic too 😤😤
it doesnt even feel like it really locks you just barely turn it to loosen it. I have some serious concerns.@@christopherwilson7698
yes , just discovered this! how long is that going to last.....seems nuts to me. mine has 30k miles and already leaking oil fro the plug and somewhere else higher up. possibly from the pan gasket as well. what a peice of junk. glad the company I work for bought it and not me. 40,000 dollars for this?@@max.rod111
so absurd that the drain plug is plastic. mine is leaking as well. why would they do this?!! such an important thing should be made of metal and to have to replace it every time is also ridiculous. my oil pan is also leaking a bit as well, this is a brand new truck and not cheap! should not be this way
They make it that way so you have to take it back to the dealer every time you do an oil change
It's bc it's a small turbo engine..the V8s don't have plastic.
Ford F-150 2.7L has a plastic oil pan as well. Crazy my opinion, make sure to change o-ring regularly.
Mine doesn't leak, you shouldn't have to be replacing it every oil change
There is absolutely no need to put a wrench on the new oil filter
😊😊😊
I would have taken it back to the oil change place and made them replace it since the ruined it. I have only been to those places about 4-5 times in my life. They are overpriced and always looking to up charge for something.
How u like the 2.7 any issue ? U think can last 15 years or 150k miles ?
3-5 years at best
it better last a lot longer than that (milage wise anyway) for what they cost! but I share your concerns. mine was purchased as a work vehicle (I didnt buy it the company I work for did) it does alright even towing my work cargo trailer but such a small engine doing so much work seems like a recipe for disaster.
I have a friend who goes camping every weekend from spring to fall with his travel trailer and he says his little 2.7 tows as well as his v8 used to. Only been doing it a couple years so don't know what longevity will look like but he said it's been going like a champ so far.
Why would they use plastic drain plugs 🤦🏿🤦🏿🤦🏿
It's stupid right!
Hello. I am Chris from Coverado, an online store that sells seat covers. We are looking for some influencers to try our custom seat covers for Chevy Silverado. Is there any chance to work with you? Waiting for your reply. Thank you!
you need to put 4 banger in the title. this doesn't help me as i have a V8
I can see now why you needed the V8
3/8 ratchet for plug, no need to be fancy about it 🫡
