Thanks Phil, I am glad I watched your video. I had been debating bringing my CF road or my steel touring bike. After researching things touring bike is the way for me to go. When I had my bike serviced last week, the LBS owner...said we'll....I've seen lighter bikes...but it's not a race. I have a similar set-up as you, the same Arkel trunk bag and it sure holds all that stuff you recommended. The one thing I had not through about was the camping spork ! Will throw that in my beg. I also just put on the same Schwalbe marathon plus tires.......hope to see you on the road next week ! Departing Massachusetts...early Thursday. Paul
Paul I think the touring bike is my favorite option for RAGBRAI, and love your "it's not a race" comment. If it was something like the RAIN ride (ride across Indiana) one day riding across the state I'd pick a CF rig. Safe travels, I hope to meet up with you along the route. May the spork be with you.
