Living with one of the World's Rarest Syndromes (The Story of Sweet P)

- P is diagnosed with a form of primordial dwarfism that only she is known to have. As a child, she loved to make silly sounds and play hide and seek with her friends. Now a teenager, P still enjoys the same activities but her same aged friends have moved on. P wants others to know that if you want to be her friend all you have to do is say "hi".

“Hello and laughter is enough.” She has the kindest soul. I’d love to be her friend.
so very sweeeet! yes!
God has put her here for a reason - God bless her and her parents
P most likely is the best friend one can have! And I don’t think it takes long to understand her, and English isn’t even my first language 😅
Her parents are right: everyone who has her in his life is absolutely blessed!
@@prestonburton8504 I LOVE THIS CHILD
I would love to be hee friend!
HELLO 👋 P, will you be my friend?
❤❤❤
honestly chris has probably the most friends in the world
he's got way better friends than most ppl thats for sure!
You might be right about that! :D
I want to be his friend too 😢 he seems so lovely ♥️ and the people he interviews are so fantastic!!! 👏
He's got the best, most pure friends

I'm glad her dad acknowledged that adopting a child means removing them from the only world they know and how that can be traumatic. I feel like so many people just think that adopting is going to be only positives.
I know. How clued up are her parents. All adopted children have some level of trauma even if adopted as a baby like I was at 3 weeks old. You always fear abandonment, way more than your average child/adult.
It's not just bc she was adopted - but being adopted in a completely different country & culture, with ppl now looking strange & unfamiliar, while she was already 7 and likely didn't know much of English... This would be a difficult adjustment for any child I think, let alone one having obstacles in processing the world around them.
Same, I was very surprised he talked about that and I never thought about it either
These parents are truly incredible. P is very lucky. Think of the chances of that meet! ❤
Her dad was my science teacher last year, he talked about that a lot, but also mentioned once that they never changed her first name because of the change that would come with it, but he gave her a last name. It was probably the most wholesome thing I’ve ever heard
The word she loves to say "Amanha means "unique " in India ,Im guessing she heard it used about her a lot in the orphanage and maybe in a very kind way so it possibly gives her a good feeling to say it...You are defiantly a Amanha beautiful girl
I love that 🥺
Thanks! That's actually important to know to understand her better!
I love knowing this!!
Well it sounds like she was a baby when she was adopted so I doubt she’d remember that
@@dodgyyoutuber9560 no, it took them 5 years to get her to the US
I love how she actually pays attention to what people say, and tries to connect with them by either repeating what they say or associating something in her life. It feels like she's genuinely invested in every person she interacts with.
Hi, the use of the word "Actually" here makes it seem like you believe folks with different abilities choose to not interact and pay attention to people. Very incorrect.
@jrpoon wow, I didn't take it that way at all. Even neurotypical people fail to pay attention and invest themselves in what people say. She's excelling in something many averagely abled folks fail at.
@@f2dw yeah, that's exactly what I meant. Being nd myself, I thought it was obvious.
@amandamarie6013 I'm ND also. I struggle so much to understand why people interpret me the way they do sometimes. I wouldn't worry about it if I were you. I saw your good intent and I think others can also.
@@amandamarie6013 Yeah your fine bro. Other dude twisted it in a totally different direction for no reason.
Chris being attentive to learn the communication styles of different people is amazing and greatly appreciated. Communication and bonding looks different and he does so well to put in effort to learn them for each interview
He and his significant other are angels on earth. I will never not feel happy watching these videos
He sets such a great example. He shows how even just a little bit of effort can go such a long way in making others around him feel like they matter. His work is vital for making the world a better place.
He's amazing (so are the folks he interviews). I work with people with various disabilities. His videos have taught me so much. 🥰
I am always truly so impressed by his communication skills. You can tell that he really reaches every one of these children and young adults in a way that they understand. It’s very moving. He is truly a precious human.
Yes he does.
I think she’s fully lucid and understands the conversation very well. Shes non verbal but very witty and smart. Don’t underestimate her due to her condition.
I don’t trust the father.
@@Krystolsenergy What makes you say that?
@@Krystolsenergy STOP! That's unnecessary.
@@Krystolsenergywtffff
I don't think she understands complex sentences, but I think she can understand very well the emotions that people want to convey and she mirrors what people say to her, which shows that she enjoys interacting with them.
It does look like her condition affected her brain development a lot which makes it impossible for her to have the exact same cognitive abilities as the average person. But what matters is that she seems to be happy, she loves and she is loved.
Perfectly said by P’s dad: “Cognitively, she is smarter than many people realise” - EXACTLY! [19:14]
Yeah she is. You can tell by her sense of humor when she’s joking with her parents, and the way she listens to them intently while they’re talking.
The way that P’s dad looks at her says it all. You can tell he loves her so much and is proud she’s his daughter ❤❤
She is so blessed to have him as her Dad ❤
Right?! You can just SEE it ALL in the way he looks at her.
They’re so kind loving
He was my teacher last year and he often mentioned how happy she makes him and how blessed they are to have her as their daughter
“so she has a lot of trauma…”
P: “TRAUMAAAA!!! 🥰✨☀️”
She knows how to joke around dude I love P so much 😂😂😂
TrAuMa 🥰🥰🥰
lol that got me 😂
Best moment 😂🥰
YES she ate that one honestly 😂 had me laughing right along with her
I'm an Indian❤ thankyou for choosing a good life for the baby girl. God loves her so much he trusted her to you two.
She's really blessed. What amazing parents
What the dad said about replacing the bad memories with the good ones literally made me cry. That is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever heard anyone say.
i’m glad the parents are so cognizant of the fact that her adoption and being taken away is apart of the trauma she’s coping with
I know. How clued up are her parents. All adopted children have some level of trauma even if adopted as a baby like I was at 3 weeks old. You always fear abandonment, way more than your average child/adult.
Facts. I’m not usually a believer in this kinda stuff, but I absolutely believe that P’s parents were meant to come into her life just as she was meant to come into theirs.
As an adoptee I’m so grateful for that ❤ adoptive parents being aware of the trauma of adoption can make for much healthier adoptees
@@jmk1962 so true, i was adopted at 1 year and only recently have i began to unpack the trauma from it....people dont think babies are affected but they are
Her parents are definitely correct about her intelligence, I could tell she understands way more than a lot of people give her credit for even before they said that. Her expression immediately turned from silly to serious and contemplative when they started discussing the more sensitive aspects of her diagnosis and early life. The way she looked at her dad, smiled, and kissed him when he was telling her how deeply and unconditionally she is loved was more powerful than words. It was so cute and funny when she yelled “trauma!” I’m not the best at interpreting social cues but I think she said it like that to convey how disruptive and overwhelming it feels to experience as well as to show that she chooses to rise above and even find humor in her struggles which I can really relate to as I’m sure many others can as well. A lot of people don’t seem to realize that those with disabilities can also be funny, silly, witty, ironic and even sarcastic but P sure proves them wrong. Some might assume that she is confused if she says something unexpected or that she can’t tell the difference between fantasy and reality if she talks about giants and princesses when really she’s just joking around, using tone and body language to imply what she is thinking or feeling instead of outright stating it, or using her newest creative project as a conversation starter just like non-disabled people do all the time and often get praised for. Again, I’m so glad she has such a wonderfully supportive family who see, celebrate, encourage, and support her in showing others her many talents and passions. The fact that she can communicate so beautifully and efficaciously using far fewer words than most really is an incredible gift, and anyone who doesn’t recognize that is missing out on really knowing P and getting to experience all the rare and magnificent ways in which she is intelligent.
She is a sweetheart too.
@@heidibower2538 most definitely😄💞
I think she said "trauma" to make everyone stop being serious and sombre. She's a comedian.
@@SewardWriter I think you’re right, it was funny and she got the timing perfectly!
Beautifully said ❤
I didn't mean to stay and watch for a lengthy time. But I got to tell you she took me away from all the craziness that’s going on in the world. I enjoyed the moment. God continue to bless this child and her family.
Salute to mommy and daddy for taking such good care and loving their daughter. ❤️❤️
Aww her name fits her perfectly. She really is a sweet "P"ea. It's heartbreaking to hear that lately she's been telling her parents she's sad because kids don't want to play with her as much. Hopefully she can make some new friends that will be there to play with her and have fun.
She's got such a joyful personality.
Thanks for introducing sweet P to us 😊
Ahnana! 😊😊
OK, your comment made me cry! This is such a beautiful video
I'll be friends with P!
💗💗💗💗
I really agree with you about her joyful personality. It is so sweet and engaging and she has such a good imagination.
Oh my goodness - I used to follow the blog of the orphanage where P is from, and I remember posts about her when she was a little baby! How amazing and wonderful to see her now!
do you recall the name ?
Are those posts still around? I'd love to see them. She is so delightfully fascinating 🖤
I don’t believe the blog is still around; I also want to respect P’s privacy especially now that she’s an adolescent so I don’t want to share other details without knowing how she and her family feel about it
@@leslie6569 completely understandable, thank you anyways!
Wow, what a small world!
What a small world! I I find this video in my feed and it plays automatically I almost changed it but decide to watch it anyway, Then halfway through the video I realize I have met this girl before when I went to the same orphanage in September 2011. I can believe it is the same little girl I had met when she was about 3. I was on a missions trip and we use to play with her in the nurses room while she ran around in one of those baby walkers. It is a blessing to see her all grown up and so happy!
I love her! ☺️ I so relate to her mom, trying to help her child have an easier time socializing. It’s hard to see your kid lonely around their peers.
For me, it’s EXTREMELY CLEAR to see how smart, witty, observant, and deep P is. The way she comes up with creative ways to communicate with people is amazing! I can’t get enough of her!!!
Watching Sweet P and her father bond over a single word is precious. His face lit up when she said, "Backpack!" ❤
The parents are so in love with her pure heart and soul. You can see it run so deeply in their eyes. I'm so happy they have each other. Side note, this channel is such a breath of fresh air. I truly believe these kids with "special needs" see the world differently, and I wish we could all see it the same way. The world would be a much better place.
I love that her parents are always listening closely for her response! 😊 She's a lovely soul, especially because most people don't know that hello and a smile or laughter is enough!
I can see she is much smarter than people think she is. Great job mom an dad for saving her and taking such good care of her.
The smile on her face when her father described her adoption day as the best day of his life. She knows he means it, and that she is loved for who she is. That is as beautiful as human connection gets.
I love how the journalist gets into character and matches her energy. God bless her little heart..and God bless her parents too.
P is the most wholesome little girl. I absolutely loved watching her interact with you. She’s very quick witted and cheeky. ❤
P's interaction with her parents, dad especially, is sooooo heartwarming. Looks like she is a daddy's girl! That moment she kissed him and said "I love you"❤And to think that she screamed really loud when he first picked her up is almost unimaginable. She definitely has a lot to say and mom is very quick with her expressions. P is loved,no doubt...and she knows it❤❤❤
Chris deserves a noble prize on human kindness, I love this guy. Breaking barriers. Opening up cross roads to beautiful souls of people to other people don't wanna get to know due to the outer physicals and not seeing the soul is awesome loving genuine and authentic, and most importantly the same as all humans. The love of these parents and all the other parents of all the other kids are real super hero's
When they were playing hide and seek, and she pretended not to see him on the chair…. My heart melted because I do the same thing when I’m babysitting 😂
Same here, it reminded me of when I was around her age and babysitting my little cousin.
any parent who takes in a child with special needs is an angel on earth
I appreciate your sentiment. Yet, There are also people who take in special needs children simply because they're vulnerable. Thinking anyone who adopts does so because they are good allows abuse to go unnoticed.
I'm not saying that's the case here. But I'm saying we need to be more thoughtful.
the "SNAIL!" prank got me every single time loll she is hilarious!
Me too!! 😂
YOU JUST SNAILED ME??
Yes! I had to go back and watch her snail Chris like 10 times!
The amount of love in this family is absolutely heartwarming ❤

I just wanted to comment on you putting a white blanket on the couch to ensure that P was well represented and seen. That is a beautiful touch, as much as it probably made the camera person's job easier for light balancing, it feels symbolic in the way that P, her family and your channel are making her seen.

Yeah, I literally laughed at that 😂 She's so smart & funny, and I think ppl really should be careful when talking about things related to her (like, to her parents) while she's present. Something tells me she perceives they're talking about sensitive (even hurtful) things about her experience, like she's not even there...
@@dyawr I totally agree .. I saw times she was not happy to discuss things or was questioning why it was being discussed. I wish so much that US used more of the tools like the pad she has and sign language.. this young lady has a LOT to say
P is adorable! She's so beautiful, inside and out. I love the "SNAIL"!! How cute is that? Mom and Dad are wonderful people.
Most special people don't have alot of friends or are picked on or bullied growing up but with time, they blossom and grow into caring, productive people in society that make meaningful contributions.

So glad to have found your channel again after years! I had just started watching and the last video was when you and your wife informed us TH-cam had stopped your comments. You did not pop up on my feed again and I couldnt remember the name of your channel. My history would not go back far enough. I am so glad the problem was resolved. The comments were so important in that the kids knew they had people that wanted to be their friends. My heart went out to all the children because of the isolation they must have felt for so long. Thank you for letting us meet P today. She is a sweet girl and a joy. Thank God she has the wonderful imagination that she does and that God gave her parents with the love and patience she deserves.
