    Got one today as a compliment to the little 40L fridge I've put in my new campervan build. Off on a few trips in the next few weeks to try it all out. Subscribed to see what you get up to - always good to see other ideas. Thanks.

      That's great news. We have just used ours again for 3 weeks solid in the south of France. The only issue we had was keeping on top of the condensation/water build up inside. Apart from that it worked faultlessly. Thanks for watching and commenting

    We've got the exact same one (Blue colour), from our camping days James. Now we've switched to Caravanning it's something to use in the awning, just like our camping kitchen that we put the large George Foreman grill on.
    These fridges are good, but not brilliant in very hot weather, as they only cool down around 16 degrees below the ambient temp.

    • @CaravanEscapades101
      @CaravanEscapades101  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi John, yes I still have the Blue one as well, still works. Ideal as an extra cooler in the awning, Agree not great in very hot conditions but neither is the Caravan fridge, I have fitted fans in the past to assist with airflow when we travel to the south of France. Thanks for watching and Happy Camping, James

    • @CaravanEscapades101
      @CaravanEscapades101  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, Thanks for commenting, I haven't measured the actual temperature it gets down to, I believe it is also dependent on how hot it is outside. Having said that, I have found it does keep things very cold, You can add Ice Blocks and it will keep things Frozen that are already frozen for a period if time. This is all dependent on how often you open it and how long you keep it open, Hope that all helps, I have been using Halfords Electric Cool Boxes for over 20 years now and have found then excellent. Him. Great demo. Can you leave it plugged in a car socket overnight without flattening the battery ?

    • @CaravanEscapades101
      @CaravanEscapades101  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you, the sockets I have on the car are linked to the ignition so when car is turned off, cooler goes off, So you would need to leave the ignition on, I would be worried about flattening the car battery that way. we do when the caravan is connected to the EHU, have it permanently plugged in and powered on. Good vlog James for a good product. We've returned 2 Halford car batteries after 4 years due to them having a 5 year guarantee. Exchanged both with no quibble, also the guarantee starts again. Love the way the cool box is similar to a fridge if you sit it on its end, but believe the shelves would be a bit to flimsy with 10 cans of beer on them. We always take a couple of electric cool boxes with us on our longer trips away. Both of which are from aldi, also given that they are forever borrowed by all and sundry and when returned are in a right state. For now I'll stick to the cheaper version. 😆😆

    • @CaravanEscapades101
      @CaravanEscapades101  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I have had reason to return other products to Halfords and have had no issues in getting a replacement. Like you we do take 2 Cool boxes on longer trips and set the. Up in the Awning. I have had a 12v Socket fitted just inside the locker door making it easy to plug in. Thanks for commenting 🙂 Stay Safe James

    What would be useful in your review would be the outside temperature and inside the coolbox after an hour of running. I bought one of these after watching your review and it does not get anywhere near as cool as the smaller ones. Smaller 25ltr ish drops to 8c when 22c outside air. Best the 40ltr can do is 14c! Not good enough so I would not buy one viewers, buy something else.

    • @CaravanEscapades101
      @CaravanEscapades101  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Thanks for watching and commenting, Great Suggestion, I will see what I can get set up and do a further Vlog. These type of coolers and Caravan Fridges as they don't have a compressor will struggle in the warmer temperatures, They only really get temperatures inside to go about 30 deg below the temperatures outside. The larger they are the more difficult it is, We find that keeping it out of the sun and pre chilling items before we put them in helps.
      Happy Camping, James

    • @givemethejob3293
      @givemethejob3293 ปีที่แล้ว

      I added a better power supply for the cooler unit, the std voltage was only 10v and the cooler works better at 12v supply. I added an additional fan to cool the powersupply and a second fan to help draw the air out of the hot side heatsink. That meant I get the temperature down to 9c when running for 2 hours and the outside temperature was 20c. No way will these 40 litre boxes go down 30c from ambient. I might buy a two peltier cooling unit and try again or give up now and buy a compressor model.

    Nice vlog mate! Can you tell what is that small bottle that comes with the manual? I'm using the Halfords Coolbox for 3 years now and i was wondering do i need to refill the gas or something? Big thumb up for this unboxing.
