The issue I have had is the architects I work with get very particular about the windows. It becomes very time consuming to try and "make" the extension do what "they" want. Also, in Lumion you are limited to the number of planes you can add reflections to. To get around this I end up making my own windows that "look" like double hung but the upper and lower glass are actually on the same plane. Most of these extensions are great if "You" are the one making the decisions about the type of windows and doors used. Great video, as usual. :)
If I create a window or door does it come in as a component? If I select “cut a hole” can I then select from the component list and drag to a surface that’s say, 90 degrees to the original surface and have the window cut a hole in that wall? Hope that makes sense
Excellent review of Vali's Door and Window extension. One of these days I might have even a fraction of his door and window types in my own plugins, but he certainly does set the bar high. I think the only thing missing from his extension is the ability to edit doors and windows once you create them unless I am mistaken and it does have this ability.
I'm pretty sure you're right - they're not really dynamic like the ones in Flex Tools, but that's probably the trade off as you get a ton more customizability. I'm sure you could build something like this with dynamic components, but there would probably be a substantial amount of work on the front end to get it working
@@Thesketchupessentials I'm very disappointed with Flextools' components' ability to change after making them. That's really where there is a void in the window & door extension market. The ability to make a basic door, combine it with other components, resize & stretch and cut multiple layers. Right now, if you do this--later, the door will update on you and you lose your customizations and weird adjustments are made without your permission--obviously due to recalculation of where that sub-component "should be"
How do you know you're confident enough to make a video on an extension already? Guess it depends on the complexity and usability of the extension right? What was your time before video on this one?
I bought the plugin and I am completely dissapointed because I am spending more time fixing the issues than just placing stuff, the windows, you input a width, and if the windows has sidelites etc, that adds up to the width you selected, when it should all be based in the overall width of your rough opening, it doesn't make sense to be trying to figure out what is the width of what, because it adds up frame thickness etc. And also, the plugin leaves a lot of unfinished faces on the back of the windows, pretty annoying, I wouldn't recommend anybody to waste money on this, at the end, it's better to do your own windows and Doors manually, no matter how many styles they have.
Hi everyone! Let me know what you think about Instant Door and Window in the comments below! :)
Been Paying this guy for years, His scripts are the best ever! Literally made my job!
They're seriously underrated - so many options, easy to use - they're REALLY good

I feel your pain
Great extension. It has as much detail as Archicad or Revit, or maybe even more. Thanks Justin.
