TheSketchUpEssentials downloading from 3 d warehouse is quit easy and quick way to add windows😊
Better way create your door window library generally used in projects making them as component. While modelling further copy paste them......
Vivek Saxena yes I’m doing those for those unavailable components. I do by my own and paste in my model anyway thanks for suggesting

This is an excellent video. I have the free version, so to date, I have been creating my windows manually. Do you have any tips for trying to make bow windows? I have a curved wall, in which I want to put a curved window frame, and the geometry has so far been really hard to construct manually. I would appreciate anything you could tell me about how to speed the process up and make it better.

Hi Justin, I am new to Sketchup - your videos have literally taught me everything I know! I am using the Window extension as in your video, but my windows always stick on the outside of the walls - or somewhere else - but never slide neatly into the opening. I feel like I've got some "snap" setting wrong. Can you give me a clue please? Regards, Paul
It probably has to do with the base point you're selecting when you move. Make sure you're not picking up a point that's on the outside of the trim or something
actually, I was really wanting to know how an actual irl window is constructed so I could _make the geometry myself._ I actually want to know how to do that. I can use the extensions later if I want to save time, but I want to know how they are built.

Great videos. I was making the opening for the windows and on the 4th or 5th window it won't let me cut the window through push/pull. I did all the other window openings with a push/pull and went to the back edge, but no matter what I do now, it won't cut though. Ugh. Help. please
Is one of your windows outside the wall group?
@@Thesketchupessentials I guess that could be the problem. I have started over and grouped my walls. When you group your walls you have to be careful you don't get the floor into that group. I have made that mistake too. So when you make a cut for the window , I should click to where it looks like it has a box around it? And not in yellow? Do I make the windows when I am in the group of the walls?
@@lauranichols4120 Well based on your first comment it sounded like you were drawing a window outline on the wall, then push/pulling through the wall to create an opening before making your window. If that's the case, you can only cut an opening through a wall with that method by drawing and push-pulling through the raw geometry of the wall. If your wall is grouped and you're not editing inside the wall group, you can't cut a hole
@@Thesketchupessentials I really appreciate your replies. I am sorta new at this and want to learn more. So I started over and grouped my walls and the window cutting is working. At least for now. Not sure what had happened. So what if I accidentally grouped my floor with my walls? Is there a way to ungroup the floor once I did it? Do you give one on one classes?
Ok so after making a very long search I noticed that my measurement/distance box, is not working, I paid more attention to what's happening to the video at 9:33 and honestly, I'm clueless, I did exactly what was in the video, I copied a line pasted it in a certain distance pressed the slash button then a number plus hit enter, and nothing happens. The measurement/Distance box remains unresponsive and doesn't show anything in it. Can you help me?

Does anyone know how to create a window where you can stretch the faces into a custom shape. For example a typical spaceship window with maybe a polygon shape extruded outwards?

How did the shapes connect when you drew the line at 1:55?
Thanks to anyone who replies.
It's automatically done by SketchUp. When you draw a line that connects two or more points it creates a face (what you see after he draws the line)
so im a first year arch student and your example of 'the slow way' was like at least twice the speed I have been doing it.
I can't locate the "instant-door-and-window" extension. The link doesn't seem to work and the extension database comes up blank when searching for it.

at 1:59 you draw one line and it combines the sections. How on earth? Can you please show what magic you did in the 1 second? I draw line but only get a line..
I don't fully understand - I drew a line across the gap, which created a face. Then I deleted out the extra faces next to the face I created that made up the window mullion.
