Nice! BTW "create openings" tool of 1001bit extension is similar to this. it has the function where you can set the base point off the stencil like the one you are looking for. great video!
Had to do a laser cut screen of a tree with leaves on a metal sheet today, imported a cad line drawing and used the sandbox tool to drop the cad lines onto a plane. This would have easily halved the time I spent drawing it. Nice video man.
This would work well when building from existing cad plans where all the guide lines already exist from the cad import. How does it compare to the similar function in 1001bit tools? Is this a free or paid extension?
I wish there was an extension that could cut through multiple layers (brick, air ,sheathing ,stud, insulation, gyp walls). Bonus if it worked like glue to any surface.
There is a tool. Profile builder 3 from mind sight has a hole punching tool as part of profile builder and it has the ability of going through multiple objects. Justin has a video (I just checked) on PB3 and he kind of gets into that part at the end of his clip but other youtube clips show the punching through multiple objects better. I use PB all the time for base and crown moulding amongst other things. It's a fantastic plugin albeit a paid one.
Hi everyone! Let me know what you think about VisuHole (and this method) in the comments below!

What about a component making holes in SketchUp? Make component > Glue to any > Cut opening. Is that the same?
I use that all the time to glue to a surface. Works great too when you have to move the window or door along the same wall
Good point! Is there a way to cut an opening through the wall that has a thickness?

Interesting idea - I hadn't though about an application like that

Looks like a very useful tool. What happens if you try it in a curved wall?
There's a button in there for cutting holes in curved walls
