    I just climbed Blanca and had the same foggy weather with snow. Your video prepared me for this intense hike. Thanks!

    Flatlander training to bag this trio from the como side in august. This just gave me the motivation to finish my stair master workout 😂 Beautiful stuff can’t wait to see it for myself

    Your rockies look less scarry with a few snow and clouds on them 😆 ( you can't see so far bellow, comparing to a clear sky day- as when you did little bear-blanca traverse). Congrats !

    I mean you would probably like hiking Cathedral Spires, Little Devils Tower, Harney Peak, and Bear Butte all in the Deadwood area of SD...Harney Peak is the highest point east of the Rockies and west of the Pyrenees in Europe so kind of cool... Nothing more than class 2 maybe a tiny class 3 section on Little Devils Tower but really gorgeous and your dog and wife would love the Sylvan lake area especially if you camp.

    Nothing worse than hiking to the top and then getting zero visibility. But this was cool to see the traverse from the other side and will probably go this way now. I wasnt looking forward to walking up the road and less people is always better. Thanks!

    I've camped at the base of Blanca a couple times, but wow....snow in late September! I thought it would be October at the earliest.

      TheEndTrend yeah it was a super early season snow, but every year is different here - keeps you on your toes!

    The rock to me looks like neoproterozoic granite. The mountains around it are younger pre Cambrian rock. If you smack the rock with a hammer there is some nice quartz grains on freshly fractured edges in them. Sometimes it is easier in winter if it is not too steep for snowshoes you can cut your travel time in half. Much faster to snowboard back down as far as you can. There is some nice galena near telluride if you smack rocks with a hammer. I will shut up about snowboards and smacking rocks with hammers I don't want to incriminate myself.

    plan to do this in summer. how long it took you ?

    • @TheVirtualSherpa
      @TheVirtualSherpa  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      彷徨い白夜の took me about 12 hours with breaks. If you check out the link under the video I give a breakdown of time. Of course if you approach these two from Lake Como, it’s going to be a much different and longer hike.

    You went in from the South Zapata Lake Trail? How long did it take you to get to the Lake?

      Correct from Zapata Falls - www.thevirtualsherpa.com/ellingwood-point-blanca-peak-14er-hike-review/ - check out the Garmin data, if you click on the hike name within the garmin section, you can see my exact times throughout the hike.

    How difficult it the traverse from Lindsay to Blanca?

    • @TheVirtualSherpa
      @TheVirtualSherpa  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Michael Loney to be honest I’m not sure. From the few times I’ve looked at it, it looks like it will go, but it’s not a standard route so not a ton of information out on it.

  • @mesafabmesafab3666

    Wow, with that weather, plus you being sick and it appears you're the only one on the mountain (correct me if I'm wrong)...if it were me, I think I would have turned around. Clearly you're an experienced hiker, but maybe you should highlight the dangers so that less experienced people don't follow your lead and find themselves in a life-threatening situation.

    One day at the top of blanca i will smoke a blunt and drink beer. Then i will sing and dance about the ouchita and laramide oregonys, flat slab seduction, and the paleocene sea.

    I want to have an "upset" and jump the fence at keystone I want to check out the forest service area. Maybe I could blame it on hypoxia. I could say mr ranger. I am gapper, a beginner, organic, texan. Then i would blame it on hyoxia and hope they don't test me for thc.

    They need to allow use of marijuana when coming down. I am not scared of any mountain but when I look down I have to smoke 3 grams or I will start thinking of all the people who died on mountains. Im not scared but I will start breathing fast and thinking about falling half a mile. I aint scared of nothing in the whole area. Colorado, Oklahoma, kansas. Im scared of 412 in oklahoma if its windy. Im not afraid of it but I have to smoke like 1/4 gram to calm down
