That gear score nerf is what got rid of me. I know that it was better for the game in the long run, but it still felt incredibly shitty to have devs just strip your gear and say "Now put 200 more hours in to getting it back."
This game is beautiful. Its relaxing. Its intense. It's fun to explore. Its fun to group up. Its fun to do chest runs. It has amazing atmospheric audio.
I think cosmetic are a good way to make microtransaction fair and basically pay for the upkeep of a MMO. Both development and server costs. However there are 2 criteria: 1. in game cosmetics should not be forgotten or plain out ugly. 2. The store cosmetics must be lore friendly. I freaking hate games that add Hello kitty outfits in game or something. For example Lost Ark and most of the outfits like the free twitch reward & event outfits.
they still need to put more monster types in it, worst thing when you enter a new zone is finding 99% of npcs are the exact same you fought in the first 20 levels of the game, just of a different color and with more stats, makes you feel like levelling up is just a game of numbers
Well they can't just implement new monster out of nowhere. The monster in the zones is to fit the specifc theme for that area. To bring new monsters, they need to bring new zones with their theme and storyquest behind it so it can fit the world properly, its not that easy of a job
@@codigokidalagoinhas7337 sure that takes time, but I can't agree on the zone limitation, in almost all biomes you find some form of the wolf type, all with the same attack pattern. Same with corrupted and ghosts, they just reskin them
19:37 Totally agree. WoW actually was exciting from the start with it's slow 2 button combat back in 2005. There was so much new to appreciate. We've grown a lot as players though, even if you're new to MMOs, so it would be redundant for a new game to be that bare for that long. Ideally the game evolves as quickly as the player is willing to evolve. If you've mastered something as a player, you can accomplish more and expand to the gameplay that is suited for you; a slower player can play the same thing at the pace that suits them. More important, even, than a flexibility that suits everyone is being true to the pace and depth the developer is most excited about personally, and the playerbase that feels the same way will be their audience.
35:16 what you were saying about the songs it would be really cool if when you hit max level you got to freely use the interment and make up your own songs for buffs
My problem with new world is all the extra side quests. I wish they would let you finish one city before moving to the next. I don’t like running back to previous cities to finish a chain of quests, while focusing on quests in a new area.
I think I got banned because miners didn't like that I interupted their routes by doing a short route and mining as much or more than they did... but amazon wouldn't tell me why they banned me

28:50 - thank you ! THANK YOU ! Finally someone commenting on the New World changes who recognizes the age when it happens and what is new Everfall going for ! And that not every fantasy game has to deal with medieval -looking architecture with various degrees of denying physics and building stability. People crashed on Aeternum's shores since ancient times and probably will continue for decades to come !
I kept track of PTR and patches even after I quit because I believed the game could be fun if the company let the devs work on it. I'm definitely coming back and might even do a new character with some friends next month
I remember playing AFK Arena when Ainz and Albedo dropped. It literally broke the fucking game, Ainz would just one shot every stage he was in. It got so bad that since he was a limited time hero, the people who came later to the game comapained a lot about it (for good reason [I was one of the people who had them both on all my accounts]). Eventualy they released a new mechanic that let you rent out any limited time heroes and this would evolve into a permentant thing after a few months of you doing this renting. I don't know if Ainz still does the most damage in the game as when looking at the numbers he does get out scaled by Damine. But by the time i quit the game, Damine had yet to outscale Ainz, about 1 year later.
I agree that mounts should be restricted to ground and maybe swimming mounts. Selling mounts is fine under certain conditions. -Every dungeon has a mount themed around that dungeon that can be acquired just by playing the game. One option is having it drop from the final boss. -Every zone has mounts that can be acquired just by playing the game that are themed after the zone. -Every faction both friendly and enemy, has at least one themed mount that can be acquired through achievements. -The mounts that can be received by playing the game can not be so bland and copy paste that you would not even go through the trouble of getting it because you would never actually use it. these types of things are what would encourage me to maybe spend a couple bucks on a mount skin, but if the only cool mounts are behind a pay wall, they wont see any extra money from me.
People who don't play games make REVIEWS about games and Asmon reacts to it. Cmon dude you know better. Guy said he haven't tried barns yet - its been out for 2 months and look at his gear.
@@mrmastermind1871 Yeah i mean I would never do video about something i dont know well A SPECIALLY if i know so many people gonna watch it. but like I said asmon knows better he must be super dry on content if he promos channels like this.
25:11 Really I prefer devs who believe in their own ideas more than what others say. The irony is, though, if they're not willing to listen and consider what the community has to say, then they probably actually have a fragile idea that isn't good that they need to protect. I don't want devs to be thrown around catering to people for all these ideas they don't feel passionate about. Ideally they would listen to everyone genuinely, understand their points, and use those PoVs to enhance and clarify ~ their own ~ vision.
They have come a long way since launch that is for sure, you can tell the devs want to bring as much of their vision and the players needs together now, hell they even said they WILL introduce mounts down the road.
I've been also saying that NW is going to be coming up BIG. Been playing since day 1, 2k+ hours in. Also, look at it this way, NW's release had released in a better state than ESO, FF14, and Lost Ark. Took all three of those games a year to a couple years to actually be good.
I agree, it's like the devs were so hard-headed! They didn't want to listen to us at all. Then the exodus took place, and they finally got the message. Fix the shit we hate, or we aren't coming back. It's as simple as that. I've been playing the PTR and it's been fun. Not sure if I'll start a new new character again, as leveling just took far too long the first time. I'm not sure how the leveling experience is now, but it was no fun the first time around. I'm hoping that is rectified to a more reasonable grind when leveling.
The gear set issue is going to be fixed too, as they have said LOADOUTS will be coming. The upcoming Roadmap will likely generate more hype for year two!
New World has exactly the same issue that made everyone quit. They did improve leveling experience. But the late game issues are still there And it quite appalling that nobody says it in these reviews.
@@Thanatos2k Don't Peon and Asmon have pretty insane gear and nearly maxed out professions, on top of 1000s of hrs play time ? Pretty sure they've both done quite a bit of the endgame loop...
Tempest Heart is one of the most amazing dungeons I have ever been in, in ANY GAME ever. Seriously the visuals, the verticality, the music and sounds. It was awesome! Just kind of easy and boring though, besides the last boss.
@@MV-ri7zu I mean there is mutated modes for a reason, I’m just not high enough expertise level There is certainly very hard content to be found in New World if you know how to access it. I was speaking from just a normal mode perspective. Mutated dungeons are NOT easy, at all.
The neutral stance is coping with the fact that Amazon literally scammed them with the B2P price. They're already financially invested, they lose nothing by hoping the game gets better. It's pretty amazing what the gaming community is ok with these days.
Very straight forward and easy to get into. I hate when games got so many buttons and slots and skills 1-25. Basically playing twister while running through the game but not new world.
The sole and only reason I quit was because story content was locked behind dungeons, you had to have three or four people whatever it was in order to move on in the story. Plus the keys needed for the dungeon. I really loved the game. But man I don’t like playing with other people
To explain simply. Every single MMO goes through this stage of development. most people in the west don't know but, Korean MMos are developed for 8 years+ before being released in the west, and KOREA is basically a testing server for all of those years. Koreans love MMO's so much and they have income with little time, so the Pay to Play for convenience model works for them there. Also That is a lot of beta testers for a long time as well.
One thing I will input about the towns etc is the timeline of the island. I was under the impression that you have shipwrecked on an island that wasnt inhabited or at least hadnt been for a very long time. Maybe a civilization had been there but fell to the corruption and these people just arriving were reviving it now? If this is the case then these towns looking like forts or cobbled together or whatever would fit in with the "Lore". Maybe I am mistaken about that.
My biggest complaint is fighting larger groups of enemies felt horrible while solo'ing. Was playing a musket/rapier and while fighting a boss other enemies would get agro'd into the fight or they'd spawn in during the match. Not a big deal with just the boss and two more but it would get way worse than that. Especially since the enemies would respawn before I could kill the boss. Became a tedious bore pretty quickly.
tbh you were using 2 primarily 1v1 weapons, GA with right side branch (the one with gravity, maelstrom and whirlwind), coupple passives from the left and lifesteal was pretty op for groups, pair it with sns for bosses (for str, even if it's a round shield) or other weapons and u can do anything solo till lvl 60
I hope everyone keeps in mind that, Greatswords, historically weren't that heavy, maybe around 5-9lbs max. Due to that, they where able to be swung faster than a lot of people thought. Also, the balance of the weapon comes into play with how fast you can swing it. The greataxe swings slower because the balance is all the way at the end of the weapon. The Greatsword swing speed is faster because the balance is closer to the hilt/handle making it historically accurate. Does everyone just want the sword to be twice the size of the character? Or swing slower and do more damage just for the games sake? Let me know, because nobody has said exactly why they want the sword to be slower/thinks it swings too fast :) Sorry for the rant XD
The greatsword should be way thinner and shrunk in width, or at least be given an option and many skins for it in this way. It looks like an ironing or surfing board right now, and looks and feels way too unrealistic/bad.
If you're talking about "historically" and in comparison to the actual scale of the weapon in the game you would be wrong. A weapon that size would easily weigh 70-100lbs if you're talking about a "realistic" scale. Metal isn't light. The only reason greatswords in the past were so light is because the blades weren't as wide as they are in this game. So your point is irrelevant. A slower swing + harder hit would logically make sense based on the size of the weapon, it's gigantic. The additional weight would also definitely throw off the user since your foot placement would act as the fulcrum point and the further the weight is away from the user the more unstable they become.
I only played this game briefly this year upon return from deployment, but always wanted to try. I really enjoyed what I did get to check out and plan on returning. Great video.
One thing I love about NW is how I’m able to just pick it up whenever I want and not having to pay the sub fee. And no P2W. I wished I played it more on release so I could actually compare it to the state now but the state of the game is soooo good now.
the game is honestly amazing right now. The coming patch will do wonders on top of what has already been done. Definitely recommend it off the PVP alone it's actually some of the best if not the best pvp in an mmo I have played recently

I had over 100 hours on the closed beta, upon release there just wasnt anything different. quit after maybe 20 hours because having to do everything over again with the same end-game content was not worth it. Still waiting for something worthwile to bring me back.
I just want them to fix selling with a full inventory. I get not being able to buy more but potentially forcing you to throw a bunch of stuff away is just needlessly annoying.
I actually have several friends that(among other reasons) quit because of this.. playing the market is actually really fun and a large part of the game.
i remember getting to lvl 60 fast in about 4 days after the game came out from doing town boards and got hella bored from having zero end game stuff to do
Trust, a fresh start server is worth it to relive first day vibes. I'm lvl 60 and maxed out some gathering and prof. And pretty high on my gear score but I'd do it over all again just to play with people in the world.
I quit a little bit after the first round of server merges and honestly thought the game would die. I am pleasantly surprised to say that I will be heading back to New World.
The game needs another year of development to fix the leveling from 25-where we are now in the timeline before brimstone sands release. I will wait for the full fix to start a new character sometime next year. Until then I play the good old one and happily enjoy the free update.
The Biggest project to date that runs on Lumberyard is Star Citizen, developed by Cloud Imperium Games (CIG). So i dont think amazon really care if new world will fail.
My takeaway. Asmon has lived in Texas for 30 something years and never seen an armadillo. You almost have to actively try not to come across an armadillo in Texas for that long.
The one reason I still wouldn't play is body blocking with players and mobs which will most certainly ruin the dungeon experience... I saw a few youtubers play and they came across an issue where they didn't damage a dungeon boss enough to get any loot because all the other players were standing in his way and he couldn't reach them as a melee only class... that may of been peons stream I don't really remember who it was... but the thought of that was horribly... theres a reason why most mmo's allow you to clip through other players... it stops this issue and it stops players abusing it to target and grief specific players! there are examples of body blocking making sense such as in mmofps but this case is not one of the cases that does make sense! I look forward to them fixing it all and I hope it improves and body blocking between players at least is done (with non-player entities it still makes sense to have it) when that day comes I may play... that won't be this year I'm saving for a 3070Ti which will cost me around over £700 probably more now the £-$ ratio is changing again due to the US economy bouncing back this means it's at least gonna be June-July next year when I get it... once I have I am gonna start building a pc around it the original plan was get the GPU last but due to new gen hardware coming out and price instability with nvidea gpu's I want to get one as soon as possible or I might not be able to later... and then the rest of the components I can focus on easily without worrying about pricing or stock availability changes I mean how often does motherboard prices fluctuate?! (that was rhetorical) the one i'm after hasn't changed in over 10 months! Originally I was going by "Cheapest to Expensive" components but this seems like a smarter decision going by "Getting it first while I still can!" approach purchases like a business weigh your options out, including long term and short term benefits and make an informed decision on what's going to be best for you meaning do your research! anyways back to the subject... hopefully by the time i've finished building my pc which will either be december 2023 or spring 2024 I should have a decent rog strix pc and hopefully by then the price of New World will of come down a little (cause other than building a custom build high end pc I am a cheapskate and love a bargain) I will buy it and play it if it's still good by then (you never know with live service games they may turn around and bite the playerbase again) and the best part is I'll hopefully be able to play it at 4k 60Fps on the new system!
i will be rejoining with some friends for fresh start and expansion. hyped.. new world is a great base game and has a ton of potential to grow into something big and great.
@@d1ylor331 was I talking to you? Last I checked I didn't need random strangers permission to post my opinion of the topic the creator is talking about.
I think something that would be great to create mob "variety" is having a variety of AI as you level. You could use the same models basically, but at level 1 they just run at you like zombies. Then at higher levels, enemies could be like Dark Souls npc invaders that can parry and back stab. I think developers could save time on a variety of character models and types (if they feel they need to) and focus on having a variety of abilities.
I don't think the mounts would be animals and the game is (by a thematic standpoint) in the opening stages of steampunk (or a variation of such) that mounts could be in that theme and still be simplistic. I can absolutely see "Familiars" in this game though. Since Animals are of a higher intelligence, or at least refuse to be tamed (unless by their own choice). Pet's would not be a thing, but familiars would be.
How is the territory control aspect going? Is it still in the "Marauders own everything" phase. Replace Marauders with whatever is more popular on different servers.
The same method used to post images of sausages was also used to post code that would be automatically interpreted and run by the game's engine. So you could upload malware to about as many computers as you wanted lmao
The first game I played that had sheet-music was LOTRO, then BDO, then FF. Bard's never done in a way that makes it amazing in either of them though imo, nothing revolutionary.
wow even has a ton of the same mobs, like early game you get like the same damn wolfs cats and bears, yeti’s but reskinned even with different race zones alot of them have the same mob type
LazyPeon have the best opinion in every game. Amazing dude. He is one of the rarest guys that speak from his own vision of the game by playing it and take time to reasearch the content of the game.
I worked as the games specialists during the new world and lost ark launch we were never given any answers on how to treat customers just "convince them to wait as we work on fix" was so frustrating as every player was upset ended up quiting soon
The biggest issue I had with the game isn't all the other bullshit that people complained about, it's not WoW, it's not supposed to play the same way, it's a more casual-chill grind type of game with a beautiful world. The issue I had, and still probably have, is the fact that this game barely runs on 60fps 2k on a GTX 3080, which is unnacceptable since even Cyberpunk can pull off more fps then that. So until they optimize the game, I'm not playing it, again, the game was always pretty fun if it was possible to be enjoyed in 144hz and max graphics, otherwise everyone would just play Runescape over it.
I never played New World in beta or upon launch. I just started it about a month ago and I’ll tell you why it is seriously one of the most fun times I’ve had as a new player and an MMO game. The profession system actually feels rewarding and worthwhile the time sink into. Not sure if I’ll play it for a prolonged period of time or make it my main MMO, but I do hope the game does well. I don’t wish ill on World of Warcraft at all. It is and probably always will be my main MMO that I play. But I really want them to have some strong competition. Because even if they had one or two games that gave them an honest run for their money as top dog, I feel that blizzard would be more inclined to button up the problems within their own game, or get out of the same loop of the daily grinding world quests and shit like that. I mean I can’t wait until dragonfly comes out and all this golden time I spent for my legendary in five piece set, is all for nothing 🤣🙄

However there are 2 criteria:
1. in game cosmetics should not be forgotten or plain out ugly.
2. The store cosmetics must be lore friendly. I freaking hate games that add Hello kitty outfits in game or something. For example Lost Ark and most of the outfits like the free twitch reward & event outfits.
Imagine if they made loadouts for new world where we could just choose between loadout 1, 2, or 3. Game changer bro. Hope they add this sometime.
It was datamined
They are brother loadouts are coming
they still need to put more monster types in it, worst thing when you enter a new zone is finding 99% of npcs are the exact same you fought in the first 20 levels of the game, just of a different color and with more stats, makes you feel like levelling up is just a game of numbers
Exactly and not just the same npcs and same attack patterns but also the same buildings. So boring and frustrating. World has no soul
Did they do anything to traveling around? Like adding mounts or fast travel?
They added a numerous number of things that make a fresh server make sense, lots of checks and balances and less limits.
What's a numerous number?
@@MrXshot A number that is numerous, duh

I managed 2nd best healer on my server for the first three months and when endgame slowed to a crawl and didnt feel satisfying anymore. Glad to see its making a bit of a resurgence
Jesse, what are you talking about?
the genocidal bone daddy is too strong.
True.
they are doing vids for just sake of making them, no experiance no expertise and people trust them for some reason!
@@mrmastermind1871 Yeah i mean I would never do video about something i dont know well A SPECIALLY if i know so many people gonna watch it. but like I said asmon knows better he must be super dry on content if he promos channels like this.
u do realize its lvl 60 PTR and gear goes with it? u would know if u actually played it
25:11 Really I prefer devs who believe in their own ideas more than what others say.
Because people like to milk this stuff and keep you (kind of) interested
@@Thanatos2k the end game rn is not so bad
@@Thanatos2k Don't Peon and Asmon have pretty insane gear and nearly maxed out professions, on top of 1000s of hrs play time ? Pretty sure they've both done quite a bit of the endgame loop...
Tempest Heart is one of the most amazing dungeons I have ever been in, in ANY GAME ever. Seriously the visuals, the verticality, the music and sounds. It was awesome!
Just kind of easy and boring though, besides the last boss.
"just kind of easy and boring though" so the part that actually matters was garbage... Gameplay is what matters
@@MV-ri7zu I mean there is mutated modes for a reason, I’m just not high enough expertise level
There is certainly very hard content to be found in New World if you know how to access it. I was speaking from just a normal mode perspective.
Mutated dungeons are NOT easy, at all.
@@truthseeking3818 ok good to know I didnt even know that mutated dungeons exist. Dont remember those being a thing when I played.
Probably don't remember Starwars Galaxies, but it had Dancers and Musician classes that would give buffs as well, they'd hang out in the Cantina's
wish they add shield variety like 1h Mace & shield for hybrid variety for melee and magic option / support role
The neutral stance is coping with the fact that Amazon literally scammed them with the B2P price.
They're already financially invested, they lose nothing by hoping the game gets better.
It's pretty amazing what the gaming community is ok with these days.
Thumb up to the dev for not giving up turning the game into f2p game with everyone favourite feature
It is buy to play
I've found myself watching Asmongold at least every morning anymore.
Thanks for all the content, bud.
weapon tied skills, active world and map events going on all the time-sounds like guild wars 2
Loved his recent video on Wildstar... I wish we could get that one back...
Did you just say.... WILDSTAR?!?!?!
@@BreatheMusic WILDSTAR!!!
Became a tedious bore pretty quickly.
tbh you were using 2 primarily 1v1 weapons, GA with right side branch (the one with gravity, maelstrom and whirlwind), coupple passives from the left and lifesteal was pretty op for groups, pair it with sns for bosses (for str, even if it's a round shield) or other weapons and u can do anything solo till lvl 60
your weapons of choice being suboptimal aoe weapons is an intended feature.
as a fs/ig main prioritizing aoe attacks large groups were nothing.
There’s already an mmo for that. Guild wars 2

I had over 100 hours on the closed beta, upon release there just wasnt anything different. quit after maybe 20 hours because having to do everything over again with the same end-game content was not worth it. Still waiting for something worthwile to bring me back.
Runescapes list of monsters and their drop tables are still the best ive encountered
I just want them to fix selling with a full inventory. I get not being able to buy more but potentially forcing you to throw a bunch of stuff away is just needlessly annoying.
okay, this is a weird feature
I actually have several friends that(among other reasons) quit because of this.. playing the market is actually really fun and a large part of the game.
i remember getting to lvl 60 fast in about 4 days after the game came out from doing town boards and got hella bored from having zero end game stuff to do
so sad that the best looking mmorpg only has 6 spells to use at a time... imagine if it had more spells like world of warcraft....
i just installed the game last night, I only ever got to 47. im so torn on waiting to do a fresh start or not, im having a ton of fun right now.
Trust, a fresh start server is worth it to relive first day vibes. I'm lvl 60 and maxed out some gathering and prof. And pretty high on my gear score but I'd do it over all again just to play with people in the world.
i would wait man. End game on live right now is trash. Or play but don't take it seriously and don't grind your character hard.
“I would like the Greatsword to swing slower and do more damage”
Monster Hunter:
I quit a little bit after the first round of server merges and honestly thought the game would die. I am pleasantly surprised to say that I will be heading back to New World.
One would think Asmon's arms would be tired from patting himself on the back so much lol.
This has me redownloading, 100%sold on the fact that I won't have to travel nearly as much as before.
For the switching between gear set. I thought I heard they are bringing loadouts.
It has been confirmed.
If they're smart, they'll put them behind a paywall on the cash shop and start generating some revenue.
If they ever decide to have a 1v1 arena competitive I would come back and grind for sure.
I need to go into that pyramid with a character called Samantha with 3 other players called Jack, Daniel and Teal'C. That's what.
My takeaway. Asmon has lived in Texas for 30 something years and never seen an armadillo. You almost have to actively try not to come across an armadillo in Texas for that long.
What is an armadildo lol...
I look forward to them fixing it all and I hope it improves and body blocking between players at least is done (with non-player entities it still makes sense to have it) when that day comes I may play... that won't be this year I'm saving for a 3070Ti which will cost me around over £700 probably more now the £-$ ratio is changing again due to the US economy bouncing back this means it's at least gonna be June-July next year when I get it... once I have I am gonna start building a pc around it
the original plan was get the GPU last but due to new gen hardware coming out and price instability with nvidea gpu's I want to get one as soon as possible or I might not be able to later... and then the rest of the components I can focus on easily without worrying about pricing or stock availability changes I mean how often does motherboard prices fluctuate?!
I will never forgive having to pay taxes and rent to maintain my fictional house. Not my kind of game
i will be rejoining with some friends for fresh start and expansion. hyped.. new world is a great base game and has a ton of potential to grow into something big and great.
Glad this game seems to be doing better, I'm excited to play again.
Mans lived in Texas all his life and just saw his first Armadillo lmao
They need to fix the fps in towns , and have settings to cap fps at 120 or 144

That 2nd to last boss in Tempest is still the highest Player Killing Boss in the game. :D
I remember being in those 2 hour queues for the first 2 weeks...
When they made end game armor rating rng, it lost a lot of players. That's when they added the gypsum stuff and made leveling more of a grind.
Pet's would not be a thing, but familiars would be.
azmondgold didnt cut out the dudes Ad break. What a legend. bahahahah

LazyPeon have the best opinion in every game. Amazing dude. He is one of the rarest guys that speak from his own vision of the game by playing it and take time to reasearch the content of the game.
And the best voices
I worked as the games specialists during the new world and lost ark launch we were never given any answers on how to treat customers just "convince them to wait as we work on fix" was so frustrating as every player was upset ended up quiting soon
One of the better parts of the game was the sound effects... I mean, I had never experienced the sound of cutting wood and mining like that...
ESO has large communities of people who wanted to see the game succeed, I was one of them. So I can really see the similarities.
Even for all its flaws, New World was soo cool on release, it scratched such an itch that nothing had it in a long time. Hope it succeeds
