With that comparison Asmongold successfully managed to describe the entire entertainment industry.
That's saddly true, the dungeon is so facking amazing, the "art team" is amazing, but only the two boss fight are the new content
Art in so many games is usually the best part. But the gameplay can make or break a game.
This is because you can find talented artists a dozen a dime. Good and engaging gameplay requires research, time investment, and play testing.... you know... stuff that requires actual effort and financial investment from the devs/publishers.

What made classic wow and EverQuest so great is the world felt real. Players don't realize that's why. They tell devs they want more to do, but they want more world to explore not more work.
Well its good to know they have been improving the QoL and market. This game struck a lot of cords for me so I hope to see much more added and I'll gladly come back.
I'm waiting for a party finder system but I think I'll return once it's added. I'm tired of using recruiting chat and clan discords to find people.

@@shanebovell6733 yo. 1. Objectively speaking as a human who likes progress. Like any other sane minded human. The graphics in new world are just better. Higher poly count. More stuff in your screen. Ambient lighting. Atmosphere.

21:39 that feeling have a name, is called Kenopsia and everyone of us has experienced it at some point in gaming and in real life.
Shadowbane was my first MMORPG. It remained my favorite game of all time, despite being plagued with bugs, lag, and bad servers.
It was full open world pvp, zero quests, just grind mobs for xp and loot… then form a guild and build a city/castle with walls and go to war with other guilds… where if you lost a siege on your city, it was destroyed.
Game is dead and gone now, but I still miss it and wish a new game would come out that is similar. But it probably never will because most players can’t handle the cutthroat gameplay of losing the city you spent 2-3 months building in 3 days.
Wierdly mine was Wizard 101. Me and my sister played that together a bunch when we were younger. It was really well made, or so. I remember.

@@stellarjayatkins4749 Open world free style PvP just doesn't work as a long term investment. Sure, you'll get a huge influx of PvP zealots in the beginning, but it dies down pretty quickly. Had New World concentrated more on the PvE aspects of the game, perhaps it wouldn't be dead in the water right now. Love it or hate it, the casual PvE player is where the long term money is.
And as a side note, I played Shadowbane...it was a gankfest and a troll paradise, but I actually enjoyed the gameplay and character styles. I had a birdman and loved the concept. I haven't seen that type of character done since in any MMO, sadly.
@@jacobyrassilon yeah, the Aracoix and the Irekei races in SB were pretty unique. My friend made a coix thief that the entire server hated. He couldn’t kill anything, but was super fast, had tons of health and stamina, and he would rob farming groups blind and never get caught even when they brought scouts out to catch him.
The ability to interact with other players and actually steal items and gold they farmed right out of their bags, or just kill them and loot their bodies was soo much fun.
Why not make the loot chests spawn only after defeating the boss or large group of enemies.

People tried to bring me to new world, but just had a hunch it wasn’t polished enough to enjoy even a little bit, so never went over.

Dodging chest runs is like old school D&D. Back when you got xp for gold you got out of the dungeon, not for defeating enemies.

You can sort gear and weapons by stat. Like strength and int
They've improved it further with a new skill in Music and they'll be adding the Great Sword and a new region in a few months. Expertise is guaranteed to be +5 via gypsum system, so you don't have to do chest farms for loot. However, certain components are still locked to lvl +35 chests so chest runs are still good but not mandatory. Servers are a bit shakie from all the merges and getting normal raids together is not casual friendly (they removed orbs so now you just get a flat 25 raids and 15 mutated raids per week) so good luck getting one unless you're in a clan/your friends still play. Bosses drop some good loot, but you'll have to do enough damage to them to get drops and the good bosses are camped. Also, PVP gives good rewards but it's all in the track system so don't expect regular drops in open world. Invasions and Outpost Rush (OPR) are alright for loot, but you better have 30 minutes minimum to waste on it.
I rate the changes a "it's better than it was before but not enough to bring my friends back" out of "I have crippling anxiety so I don't try and join other clans to get loot". (7.1/10)
Can confirm, I stopped playing until just recently because of the initial watermark system and how to grind it. Enjoying it again now, went from 520 to 600 in 2 weeks

I started playing New World a short while ago, not even 60 yet, and I've been having a good time. I was well aware of how the launch went but the game as it is now is actually good. Not gunna say perfect because no game is, but Ive been having fun.
I had fun too until level 56 then I couldn't push my self to log in again.
You are experiencing the exact same content. And you will run out just as quick. Unless you like farming 8 hours a day non stop for a small amount of xp for a certain traitskill.
Nothing big has been added yet. So dont talk like its better game now. Only bug fixes here and there. Next to that the game is so much worse. 20k people... really. That must be a boring mmo. With 900k it was wild. Untill we reached endgame... that was when almost the full 900k left mate. So prepare to be dissapointed.
I no-lifed a Musket/Hatchet "Patriot" build at launch, and that was pretty rewarding in PvE and PvP. But yeah, the QoL killed it for me, even though I really liked the aesthetic and fell in with a fun group of folks. Even the rotation/play loop, while simple, I liked the modularity of it. I still prefer the crafting jobs in NW to WoW or FF14, but otherwise, cant disagree with Asmon. Its broke, and the World PvP didn't help.
Of course you can sort gear/weapons by stats: f.e. any armor "of the soldier" is gonna be armor with str only and so on. It´s just hidden really well for no reason. Btw. I stopped playing the game in January´22 and ppl still to this day apparently do not know about it... what a shame that NW fcked it up that hard - could have been my new mmo for the next 10 years or so...

I pre-ordered to get into beta, then i asked steam for a refund and i never played the game on launch. I took me about 2 hours to see the game would fail. Which is a shame, because i was thinking that they're 1-2 years away from possibly making the greatest mmorpg of all time ^^
I played. Made it to level 20. Its fun. Lol.

The server Lazypeon was on has been merged with the one he transferred to lol, he was in the guild i was in for the early stages of New World, was fun having him in wars.
So much potential..
With steady updates that they are bringing, at the end of this year new world might become a petty solid game, which is when it should have launched originally
Too late now, I hate this trend we are all okay with, games launching 1 year early, by the time the devs make it a decent game it's already dead

@@outbreak3607 How could you possibly expect a "full" MMO at launch? Not even Lost Ark launched in the US with all of it's content or systems, despite being out for years. Let alone a brand new MMO, which had been redesigned several times over. It launched as a minimally viable product, there was something for everyone. Then they start adding onto that as time goes on. That's what live service games do.

no one would ever say that the storage system still makes sense. what people were saying is that it used to make sense and is a left-over from the old version of the game, thus saying it needs to be changed.

3v3 arénas is on ptr and its amazing. Even if the game has issues thé feeling of pvp when its not laggy feel so smooth, it just beat the rest.

The problem with new world is that the developers were way too late to meet the players expectations and feedback. The high cost of azoth fast travel, separated town storage, lately implemented gypsum upgrade, and server merger were relentless problem that were not addressed until 7 months later. They do not understand the game for the longest time. Players leave.
No, they shouldn't need to listen to random teenagers, that's just desperate. Good dev team knows what they're doing and make their rules. IMO there shouldn't have been fast travel at all, except horses. The game just didn't have content. Also, all the simps left for other games with their favorite streamers, just like they likely came to New World anyway. Many of them probably don't even like like games they start playing just because the hype train did.
un balanced faction, boring repeatable, annoying way to travel around, and the nail in the coffin in the HUGE amount of exploit and dupe. I would never go back unless they reset or made the old resource redundant
Not to mention the difficulty of the mobs you are ON-LEVEL for with ON-Level gear is so high that either you have to be a Tank or a light-weight who can Dark Souls roll or you die. No in-between and it caused me to quit the game. Tired of mobs being aggroed from blocks away in the tens making me run away or die. on top of that things still attack you no matter what level you are. lvl 3 things still attack me at level 60.
I never understand people saying ‘too late’. It’s a game, and the world isn’t ending, just come back when it’s good?
@@DamionWrightt They fixed a fast travel to dynasty. Did you remember the stupid 15 minute run just to get 3 players to go to the dock? It was a inconvenient trip. Fun is not walking simulator. They fixed it but it was too late. Too late has implications to players quiting. Low players means low chances of doing outpost rush and expeditions.

@9:42 they did. But its not intuitive. You have to know which Class is with attributes. like Str + Con is barbarian or something and Con + Str is knight. It was still pretty dumb but it did exist at that point. Now I think its much better but I don't know, I just logged on today for the first time in months
leveling 1-33 fun everything after that was so boring. I gathered and crafted only while my rested xp was up after level 40

Lazy Peon got it wrong on not being able to sort gear by stats on the trading post…. For example, looking up ‘Sentry’, as this is the name for items with all constitution
Wait for the next patch. They are adding in 3v3 arenas. PvP overhaul, PVP currency, and a LOT more things focused strictly on PvP for both low and high level players. Also don't forget all the QoL updates they've added over these months. It's in a way better state but sadly its end game Currently is still MIA for the most part. But worth checking out again soon IMO.

i think new world just needs like 3-4 very good patches that go smoothly, they've done one good one so far which was this last one, which did introduce a few issues but nothing major that broke the game. i don't think people want to start playing the game (even if they like the aesthetics) if it's just going to break again in a few weeks. i lost faith in the team for a few months but still came back to see how they did but im also much more forgiving because i really liked the game early on but other people that didn't even make it to 60 wont care to come back unless they can prove that they can actually patch the game without making it worse than what they patched. that's just the basics that they can't get right, if the 3v3 arena is a success that's going to give people more hope for the future patches. then they need to do the same thing for dungeons and for new content (i dont care for pve but it's necessary). for me, as long as they do the PvP right that's all i care about and ill put up with the pve grind just to make sure i can enjoy the pvp by having the best gear i can farm / buy. next big pve thing should be raids, if they can make a really good raid system with guaranteed BIS gear for all the different classes then i think it will bring back the hardcore pve nerds too.
