Why are our farmers shifting to Agroforestry

  • "Yearly crops look pretty on crisply printed papers, but farmers can't abandon thinking in seasons. "
Farming is not just about the extraction of crops but about our meals and a farmer's livelihood. A farmer who has inherited not only the land but also the conventional single-corp and chemical input methods from three generations, then from a dead land, expects to find life.
There is no time to wait for another generation to heal. At SayTrees we believe that what will sustain the land for such small and marginal farmers is the practice of Agroforestry, a nature-based climate-resilient solution built by closely observing and mimicking nature's healing capacity.
While trees heal and save soil, natural inputs and multi-crop practices maintain the farmer's income through changing seasons.
Only groundnut can't pay their bills year-round since the market prefers a salad bowl to a single fruit plate.
"It takes a full stomach to care for the planet," a farmer says.
