I haven’t read through all the comments so someone may have already mentioned it but just in case they haven’t, there’s a fantastic article in the current issue of The Knitter, a masterclass in fixing mistakes in brioche knitting. Helped me no end with my MKAL.
I am only beginning to learn how to fix my dropped stitches, even though the correction may be wonky. Glad you stopped filming when you reached the tricky repair as my stomach was getting in knots. Whew! Great job.
I am on the two shawl team for the MKAL so am currently finishing the first clue on the second one so I am definitely behind but enjoying embracing my pace ... your colours are gorgeous! One bright for me and one more muted as a gift. I am excited for the next clue as you can never second guess where we are going next!

O just finished clue 1 yesterday. I tried practicing brioche yesterday. I'm messing up my yos. I'm just not sure i can do the brioche... I think we just completed the bottom of the shawl, and we are going to be working the semicircle/ triangle section picking up stitches. Now I'll try another brioche swatch. If I can't make it look good-- I'm doing eyelets! 💜💜 Your shawl looks great!
Oh Martyn what a beautiful shawl! I’m SO impressed! I want to be able to do mistake free brioche BUT…..it doesn’t happen 😭I really need to find a pattern for a smaller project and just do that. (And figure out how to fix my mistakes….or just figure out how not to make mistakes) Anyway I did the eyelets and Clue 2 is finished (for me) Thanks for taking us along to another yarn show and for another Vlogtober episode! Wonder what’s in store for us in clue 3???(that might keep me up tonight)

thanks for sharing your festival with us. You sure are getting good at fixing brioche, I would have panicked a bit, especially without a lifeline. I wonder if you could borrow a tin to bake 2 cakes at the same time. Does your mom have one ?
Great job fixing that one oops! I am normally a perfectionist, but I purled 3/4 of my brioche row by brioche purling when I should’ve knitted . it was on row two second pass and decided that nobody else would know it, but me and nobody would see it driving by on a motorcycle as a friend told me.
I went to the K & S show on Saturday too and visited the yarn whisperer on Bex’s stall (the pigeons nest), he said you’d been along earlier for a flying visit.. I loved the hat he was wearing! Also congratulations on 10k subscribers! 🎉 I’ve only just started a crochet channel/podcast, can’t knit anything more than a square blanket though! 🙈
Hi Martyn, Ali Pally was fabulous to see. I went when it was in Harrogate last year. I thought about saying reversing the brioche colouring, but decided it wouldn't look right.. Thank you for sharing my namesake. 😂 Take care xxJane 🐑🌼
I too think that the backside of a project can be a thing of beauty itself. Hearing you talk about the cake reminded me of my husbands Auntie. She make the best “rum cake” as it was known in the family. She passed several years ago and did not leave the recipe behind. No one can get it like hers.

if you are comfortable with 2 hand color work you can easily do 2 color brioche the same way. Look up One Pass Brioche, it might take a row or two to get used to it but it moves so much faster and the Go Go Dynamo is simple rib brioche
You did not need to undo the stitches to your mistake. Just add them as-is to the new needle, then use the crochet hook to fix, then add back the other stitches.
