I’m like you Ant , I’m just biased to Italian cars . I like that you’ve reviewed something different though . I quite like these Megan cups , it looks a hoot
Good French hot-hatches became a lot rarer after the Peugeot 205 stopped production imho. Before that there were so many to choose from. Renault really kept the flag flying, pretty much alone, with the Clio 182 onwards
I love a french hot hatch. At maximum attack on track the megane is exceptional. Very close match to a 20VT on the numbers. You have to work harder for it in the 20VT. 20VT stands up well given the age difference. As a toy, the 20VT is more of an occasion and senory performance. As a daily, its Megane for me
I think the reason for the Ring map is because it took the front wheel drive lap record off the Astra VXR. I'd the Astra they were fast as standard but stage 2 and a Quaife was the way to go.
I went from 10 years in Alfas (156 and GT) to a Mégane RS250 (non-Cup version as it felt more comfortable to me) and kept it for 5 years. It was brilliant. But it did encourage me to drive a bit like a hooligan. Back in an Alfa now (Giulia Veloce for the last 6 years). I do miss that Mégane at times. It was practical (I put my bike in it a lot) and it made a better sound than any Alfa I've had. The interior was mediocre though, even back in 2010.
The Cup ones are a bit cooler, but for 10k I can think of a lot of rear wheel drive sport coupes that I would rather have. Ant just loves all cars, but he is passionate about italians.
I would guess that’s not running standard power, it’s got an aftermarket intercooler which usually means it been mapped, probably running circa 300bhp, you should have pressed the little ESP button down to your right for Sport mode 😅. I love mine, very little comes close for driver feedback and steering feel. You literally feel like you have both hands on the road. The speed you can carry through corners and roundabouts is absolutely ridiculous, the chassis inspires so much confidence and it’s quite forgiving if you go in a bit hot, you can just power on and the LSD digs in and slingshots you out the other side at ludicrous speeds 😂. I paid 7 grand for mine, it’s incredible value for money and there’s not much that’s quicker down a twisty road or round a track. And it also does the school run 😅. Mine is mapped to 310bhp and has both silencers removed, the pops and crackles are brilliant! Take it out again and get the LSD working round a few corners, I think you will be quite shocked!
Do you prefer this or the scooby? Great watch as always. Also James had to lower the tone with the drawing penis bit……. That’s why I love him. We are so alike 😂😂😂
Cup means LSD, stiffer springs, Recaro CS seats, they didn’t even press the sports button for maximum power, next time you review a car do some homework on it rather than, erm I don’t know what cup means is it the yellow seat belts 🤷♂️
Recaro seats were optional. Cup pack on the 250 was LSD, uprated dampers and stiffer springs, thicker anti roll bars and red calipers with grooved discs. But agree on the homework 😂
Owned one of these personally and its one of the best cars ive had. The performance and capability you get for the money is incredible!
I bought one yesterday !!! 1st time i drove a fast car like this ! i love this car

It took us by surprise 😳 it’s a yes from me
I've got a 2015 275 Trophy from new with Ohlins. Not much can touch it in the corners unless you spend a lot more money
What about focus st or mazda 3 mps

Personally, an MX5 is a good daily alongside a 20VT toy.
Coupe/convertible, fwd/rwd, Turbo/NA and sound/handling

ANT!!!
Damn...more great little cars we don't get here in the states...
😂
Im guessing you never even tried sport mode with traction off? It increases response no end!

Spot on
What does JP think about French cars??

Thank you for this comment. And since recording this we have found that button 😂 and what a machine it is
Had a 275 cup s. Unbelievable, you have to own one if you consider yourself a petrolhead who enjoys a real handling car

@@autosportivobedford don’t let your best mate see that comment then 🤣🤣
I thought this channel was all about italian. I feel violated..
Don’t worry I felt like I was cheating while I was driving it 😅
I dislike French cars ( love France ) but really enjoyed this… well done for being so subjective!!!
