    Own a Glock 19 and absolutely love it. When it came to deciding between these two, I had to go with the Shield. At the price I got it for, I was able fit it with a Streamlight TLR-6 and a Hogue grip for less than selling price of the basic 43. Next upgrade is Trijicon night sights. I'm a Glock fan myself, but not to the point of ignoring the value of other brands.

      same here, love my glock, and its my nightstand gun for capacity reasons, but my EDC is a shield. I think its something about the ergonomics of the way the shield sits in my hands, but I am consistently more accurate with the smith over the glock...

    Update-Now 500 rounds through my shield--100℅ reliable! Over a million made and early glitches have been rectified. I leave my c100 cz75 compact upgrade in the car and use the shield as my range gun; it's comfortable to shoot even using hot zqi nato ammo. I require a manual safety so my selection was between the shield and Sig 938. 1 was too small, grip didn't agree with me, and it had problems with the guide rod--see "Shooting the Bull's" post. Completely satisfied and am still awaiting a PC due to hi-vis sights and trigger job.

    I loved this review, as I enjoy all your videos. It was comprehensive, thorough, and easy to understand and know exactly the features of both guns to make an educated decision. If I was in the market for a CCW I'd buy the M&P Shield, because it has the features I like in a stock, out-of-the-box pistol without needing to add anything-not that there's anything wrong with that-thanks for another great video.

    I own both these guns and agree it's a matter of preference. But I have to say the Taurus PT 111 Millennium G2 is hard to beat for price, recoil and capacity. I wish more companies would make upgrades for it. But for me I carry the Taurus for now. After 2000 rounds with no hick ups, I feel confident in carrying it. As always great informative video.

      +Grumpy4545 I have to agree, for the money the G2 is a great gun. If Taurus ever comes out with a G3 I hope they make the safety optional and add a decocker. When it is in double action the trigger is so smooth. they need to take advantage of it.

      I love the looks and feel of the G2 Taurus but I bought one last year and continual FTF with all ammo including hst 124gr so I sold but bought another yesterday and it would fail to go into battery every shot with several kinds of ammo, cleaned tried again same thing. So I returned. Went with shield. I want to love Taurus but had to give up.

    • @mytmousemalibu
      @mytmousemalibu 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Andrew Jensen Best thing would be to go look at them at the same time, compare side by side. Even better if you could go to a range that does rentals and put some rounds through each. Shield is smaller by a little and lighter which it carries a little better but not by a drastic amount at all. Biggest difference is fully loaded weight, the 9C holding more rounds making it heavier. That's probably what stands out the most to me. Dimension wise, the width of the 9C over length/height is the most noticeable. For me the slight edge in comfort & weight wasn't enough to outweigh the extra firepower for EDC. Both are great guns, can't go wrong with either. Since I have a 9L also, its nice to have some mag compatibility and having a bunch of full size mags around. The 9L is my "open division" race gun, which a few mags have Taran Tactical & Taylor Freelance extensions on them, those big sticks fit the 9C just fine!

      ***** The Apex triggers are an awesome upgrade over the original. I have one in my 9C and 9L. The 9C breaks at 3.5lbs and the 9L is 1.5lbs but its a competition gun. Running XS Big Dots on the C. Wouldn't have it any other way now. I wished they were a little better stock though. The trigger in my Shield was pretty poor but I just did a little work on it for now.

    If you think about it, glock has never released a new product since the 1980s, all glock models are just dimension changes on the original 17, a few updates here and there but the gun is very much starting to show its age.
    Also the shield is just better then the 43, its even cheaper.

    • @glehman01
      @glehman01 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The shield is just another polymer copy of the Glock. Glock is / was the innovator. So is the Shield better ? I would say that's up to you. Myself, I'll stick with the Glock.

    • @lt0295
      @lt0295 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Sam's son Hmmmm, seems the only defense Glock seems to have these days is “but we were first.” A shield is anything but a copy of the Glock. Polymer is about the only similarity. The Shield’s sights are vastly better, the slide is better, the recoil is better, the grip is better, the magazine is better, and the capacity is better.
      Being first is cool and all, but at some point, you have to start to innovate.
      PS I love Glocks. I just accept that one is better for concealed carry, while another is better just for an all purpose, Jack of all trades gun.

I'm going to keep the ones I have. (I still have that old 1911, shoot it now and then). And I'd really like to shoot the shield. Lots of videos of people who really like it. • @biggboysouth
    @biggboysouth 8 ปีที่แล้ว +12

    I went a head and bought the both because I couldn't decide which i liked more and also my girlfriend wanted a gun too. After carrying both and shooting both I am slowly leaning towards the shield for two main reasons. 1: larger mag capacity and yes i know I can buy after market stuff for my glock, I bought the plus 1 base plate but that's kind of corny that I have to buy something for it to compete with an out of the box shield. And 2: I am finding that the shield is more comfortable in appendix carry than the glock 43 due to the glocks grip angle sticking into my belly slightly where the shield does not. This i found interesting as i could not find anyone who mentions this when comparing the two. Both are good guns but the shield feels like a little gun with big gun feel and features, that to me is a good thing. The glock feels like you'd expect a gun that size to feel. I'll probably end up letting my girl hold onto the 43 for me as she seems to like it anyways. But in the mean time They are both mine for further evaluation! =P

    Love your reviews. I personally owned both of these as well, and I prefer the glock for a couple of reasons. First is that I like the glock trigger better, second, and more important is that for my hand, I do not like the way the Shield grip tapers so much towards the trigger side. For me it just feels narrow when I am shooting it and bothers my fingers that are gripped around it. My son on the other hand has no problem with it so after a month of having it, I gave it to him, along with paying for his CCW class, on his 21st Birthday!
