Thank you for the video! I always learn something new from you. I’ve had a fiskars rotary cutter for about 20 yrs that was purchased at Joann’s and it’s in excellent condition. Blades are easy to change. The best part of it is that it has 3 settings, one for cutting light fabric, another for heavy fabric and the 3rd for a neutral position when the cutter is not in use. Good luck with your research.

Thank you! I found my old rotary cutters from college and they work great. I will be trying out some new ones once I have the sewing studio up and running. ☺

Great Stocking tutorial! Your fabric is great as always. I have sewn for some 40 yrs , quilting for the past 20, I have tried every rotary cutter out there and the very best is Tula Pinks Rotary cutter. It came with my Special Edition Bernina 770QE. The rotary fits your hand and is weighted. While watching your video the blade is very important and that replacement blade is not that great I purchase OLFA blades only. They may be more expensive but they work. OLFA is 2ond best for me as a rotary cutter, I used them solely until I was given the Tula Pink which is fabulous. Good luck with your packing hope you can relax between it all. Pace yourself ❤️

Thank you! I am loving all the info on cutters. The sewing community is the best! I hve never heard of the Tula Pinks, but it is going on my must try list. Thanks again! 🧵

I am a quilter and only use OLFA rotary cutters. However, I would probably only ever cut 3 or 4 layers max with a rotary cutter where you were cutting through 8 layers (4 folded). I think even the best of rotary cutters would struggle with that. The stockings turned out so cute! You reminded me that I have to make one. I gained a daughter in law this year. BTW, I love your hair!

Good to know! This is the info I need. :) I did have lots of layers trying to save time, HA! Should have known better. The cutter didn't work on two layers in the end. I think Olfa is what my original ones are and they still work! Happy sewing, and thanks for compliment on my hair. 💗

Using the plastic, flexible kitchen cutting mats from the Dollar Store, for making your pattern pieces out of, would help with pattern placement (because you can 'kinda' see thru the plastic) as well as making the pattern pieces more durable for repeated (yearly?) use. I'm sure I'm not telling *you* anything new! I just wanted to take the opportunity to stop in to 'comment' (help the algorithm) and say 'Hi'. It's been a looong while. 👋😊

YES! YES! When I used to make undies for living I had my patterns on poster board so I could cut around quickly with a rotary cutter. Excellent idea to use the thin cutting matts (and inexpensive)! Thank you for sharing I am sure someone will find it very helpful.

So cute and a great gift idea as they would make great gift bags for non-family members too!

Hi! What if you want to make the stocking smaller? Would you make the pattern along the inside? Thanks!

Yes, you could cut evenly away around the whole pattern. Happy Sewing!

It was a brand new cutter right out of the package. I assumed it was shipped with a cheap blade. Replaced the blade and it was the same. :( I found my olfa cutters after the move! Hooray!
