I'm a life long Honda/Acura fan but I'm truly disappointed with what seems to be very mediocre effort from this once great performance brand.
My words exactly, Honda seems to have given up on its core fans and buyers. It's embarrassing. I've owned 2 Integras and a couple civics, del sols. The new integra is slower than my integras and one of them was an LS. The LS had a 0-60 of 7.5 and the new integra has a 0-60 of 7.4 thats so sad. My GSR would eat it up no problem.

The Type S is a pig compared to the other two. I can honestly say I didn't really expect the SS to be the lightest car here. What a beast that thing is. Even with the RWD factor, it still held it's own quite well.
There needs to be a Chrysler 300 5.7 V8 AWD they're quicker than the R/T and 392 scatpack off the line it would be interesting to see how it does compared to other cars
Acura miss their window with the new TLX, expensive car yet slow ass hell, even when it's main focus is luxury, you can mix luxury/ performance together with no problem, nice looking car, but sad see almost any car pass you.
Man that TLX is really disappointing, for the price it should have at least came with 400hp. Being 4,200lbs and only 355hp has got to be a drag. Sucks cause I think they look absolutely awesome and love the interior. Maybe some bolt-ons and a tune could get it to boogie.
@Julian Not according to all the marketing hype and the narrative Acura put on this car. They presented it as a Track car, even rigging a drag race with an S4 trying to show that the Type-S was faster. Heck the first reviews of the Type-S were all on the track....it was not designed to be a luxury car first, they just missed the mark as it is not really that luxurious at the end of the day. Compare that interior to that of a C class Merc, for example, or even a Genesis, and it just looks plain.
@The King and I that's for the type s name plate that still doesn't change the tlx morals of being more on the luxury side then performance. The integra is acura pure performance vehicle that doesn't go too heavily on performance like the type r or too far in on comfort like the tlx.
@The King and I but the tlx is still very fun to drive in sport, plus the pops and shifts are extremely entertaining for me. P2R is also making a high hp build, claiming 1k.
It's a shame how much Acura has under powered at the time the much anticipated TL type S. The refresh should start with a large increase in horsepower.
You keep featuring the Acura TLX Type S and it keeps losing it has a top speed of around 150mph or roughly 241kmh and a 0-60mph in 4.9 seconds or 0-100kmh in 4.8 seconds. However every time you have this car in a video it places last.

I just want a car that's faster than the average car on the road which the Type S is. I think that's how people should look at that car. It's a good looking car, luxurious, reliable, quick and sporty. If you want it to be faster you can always tune it
@PorscheGt23 I did buy the Type S and I have no regrets. I looked at every single one of the competitors and still wanted it. I felt like it was the most complete package for me. The m340 and s4/s5 were certainly quicker but they seemed boring inside and out. The stinger/g70 still felt like a Kia...cheap and tinny. The q50 red sport was very outdated inside. In the end I gave up a little straight line speed for a great daily driver. I love the interior especially with the touch pad and the screen was more integrated into the dash design and not just slapped on the dash. The seats are wonderful and it's just a great place to sit every day. It also looks the best in my opinion and sounds great with the active exhaust.
@@jessebrocious5341 acuras infotainment is still way behind the Germans. And you gave up ALOT of speed. The base model 330i will give the Type S a run for its money
@PorscheGt23 like I said I drove them all. Everyone hates the touch pad for infotainment but it's one of my favorite features...no reaching for the screen. And I really liked the analog/digital gauges in the Acura. The full digital (especially with tach on the right) didn't do it for me. I do wish it had wireless android auto but I'm picking up a dongle for it. I'm really happy with it. If I upgrade it would need to be a real M car or RS3/5
@Layne you obviously haven't driven them all. It's very engaging compared to the numb bmw and audi. The only one that was more fun to drive was the c43 amg. But it's ride in sport was way too harsh. I had the opportunity to buy any of them, and I thought it was the best package all things considered. I'll concede that it doesnt do anything the best. But it gave me 90% of everything
I'm a Honda fanboy. The current crop of Type S have been a let down. But then Type S in general were never that much different from the lower trims. But the extra cost to go to the Type S 😬
The outcome was already written as the specifications were read. The Acura is giving up at least 50hp and is the heaviest. Of course it was gonna come in last.

Is this a recently filmed video? How does it look so warm up in Canada right now when we are freezing down here in Ohio right on your border haha. Interesting match up though. I like the mix of cars you guys chose.
Acura already had a more powerful sedan than that Type S. The RLX had 377hp from a hybrid. One would assume that Acura would have wanted to give their new top performance sedan more hp than an older model. But no. They preferred to give it less. For whatever reason they had. Even with discontinuing the NSX with 500hp motor + electric hybrid for 600hp. One could make an argument that they could have taken that motor 500hp motor, even detuned to 450hp, and put it in the Type S. The 3.0L Turbo 6 should have been the previous model V6 replacement. Acura offered 4cyl & 6cyl models in previous TLX model. Detuned NSX engine should have been Type S motor. Just my opinion
Tough to do, since they were never offered in Canada, but anytime my buddy comes north of the border, we usually ask Sam if he wants to run the SS against someone!
The LS3 has tons of aftermarket support. I kept mine mostly stock with the exception of a CAI. Thing would inhale highway miles like Cheech n Chong on a joint.
Interesting that the numbers on the Q60 RS are less than the Chevy SS online. Does the Infiniti have any work on it? Is something going on with the SS Sedan? I've seen temperatures affect the traction for the SS Sedan with summer only tires. For the owner of the SS Sedan, I installed an OTR intake system on mine and could walk V8 Chargers from a roll. Nice runs, and thanks for not doing those weird finish line animations.
I think the 7spd DCT made a difference for the Infiniti with similar hp numbers and the advantage of awd. The 6L80 needs recalibration make it shift closer to a DCT. Impressive performance for the SS.

Honda/Acura have top engineers. Why bother if you're targeting last place? Don't pretend to be performance oriented and not bring it. I'm a life long Honda/Acura fan but I'm truly disappointed with what seems to be very mediocre effort from this once great performance brand.
All in the name of reliability, don't like the tlx's power, get a tune. picks up 90-110 whp with just a tune.
Yes, get a tune that only makes it keep up with its competitors while voiding the entire powertrain warranty on a new $54k+ car. It’s embarrassing that this thing even needs a tune to compete against older vehicles that are stock.
Acura like Honda was always more about driving feel not to be the fastest out there. The type s is to under cut the outrageous cost of its competitors just like the previous tl type s and because of the absence of the rlx it’s the tlx has to fill larger roles
@@Julian-oy7hx they were always quick for there price. And the tl type s could easily compete with it's competitors, and with minor upgrades was very formidable. You could do the same with the TLX type s and it's still gonna get wrecked by the competition.

Acura made a luxury car
Congratulations on the birth of a child🍾🍾🍾!!! Infiniti eats well. Rooted for Acura, but disappointed in her (she needs a chip tuning).
The TLX is such a disappointment. I’ve liked Acura cars but now I’m starting to doubt wether they can keep buyers enticed. Hopefully they step their game up.
I own a black tlx type s. With all the options available. Very good car no mechanical issues-noises or anything. Also own a tl from 2096 never had any issues except speakers and batteries replaced. I did change all the suspension and its still going
I go for reliablity and looks over 0-60. THe tlx is still a fun daily driver. if youre not a 0-60 horsepower fangirl then the tlx is a great car
Elantra N vs the new type R? I wanna see the roll race with the two.
Would love to see the CT5 V vs the TLX Type S

The Type S is a pig compared to the other two. I can honestly say I didn't really expect the SS to be the lightest car here. What a beast that thing is. Even with the RWD factor, it still held it's own quite well.
There needs to be a Chrysler 300 5.7 V8 AWD they're quicker than the R/T and 392 scatpack off the line it would be interesting to see how it does compared to other cars
Acura Type S slow as Toyota Corolla 😂
weight on the acura is it's disadvantage if Acura wants to make the type s fast they'll need to cut off some of that weight or add more horsepower
Tlx is a nice car but for a performance car it’s garbage unless it’s tuned. I’d stick with a m340i far superior car then all of them.
LMAO Acura is a fail. I wouldn't pay more than $45,000 for it
It's not a canyon carver either because its too damn heavy
I've owned nothing but LS's.. really wouldn't mind checking out the Q60 tho!
Stage 2 and 3 from ktuner are probably gonna make the type s competitive they been putting a lot of effort into it.
It’s a luxury car first
@Julian Not according to all the marketing hype and the narrative Acura put on this car.
Please do the TLX Type S vs the RLX sport Hybrid. I am dying to know which sedan is faster
From my experience and reading knowledge the Q50 and Q60 are extremely similar but the Q50 out performs the Q60
Q50s are typically lighter being sedans so would make sense. Like G Sedans Vs Coupes back in the day.
Q50 red sport
@ISSA VIBEZ I should've clarified, but yes, the Red Sport 400. I forget they have a few lower HP models. I own the RS400 is why lol
@@Mjsmith284 now there is only the 3.0T with 300HP or the Red Sports with 400HP. The 4 cylinder models got killed off.

Acura needs to do a performance upgrade or weigth reduction type s always got beat
It's a shame how much Acura has under powered at the time the much anticipated TL type S. The refresh should start with a large increase in horsepower.
With Acura design looks nice but the speed disappoints
Hey @Sam CarLegion find one of the beta testers for the stage 1 ktuner on the Acura to see if it makes a notable difference.
You keep featuring the Acura TLX Type S and it keeps losing it has a top speed of around 150mph or roughly 241kmh and a 0-60mph in 4.9 seconds or 0-100kmh in 4.8 seconds. However every time you have this car in a video it places last.

Yeah they definitely should have used the 3.7L from the 2012 Acura TL SH-AWD and Turbocharged it. Use the same quad exhaust and Dyno it with a laptop to put out 400 HP and maybe 375 torque.
@Peter Bennett, that's still not enough. 500 for the weight would actually make it competitive, stage 1 tlx type s does 400 hp and 444 torque.

If I had to buy one of those cars it would still be the TLX Type S. When I buy a car I look at the whole package I don't buy it just because it's fast mind you I'm not trying to win races. I just want a car that's faster than the average car on the road which the Type S is. I think that's how people should look at that car. It's a good looking car, luxurious, reliable, quick and sporty. If you want it to be faster you can always tune it
Sounds good to downplay the car until you see the Msrp
The Acura is under power and heavy car for looks not for go.
Hey sam would you want to have a 22 Elantra N thats tuned on your channel i can come up to canada
That Acura is such a disappointment can’t believe people spend 50/60k on those
I'm a Honda fanboy. The current crop of Type S have been a let down. But then Type S in general were never that much different from the lower trims. But the extra cost to go to the Type S 😬
The outcome was already written as the specifications were read. The Acura is giving up at least 50hp and is the heaviest. Of course it was gonna come in last.

Sometimes a driver mod is needed as well. Two people driving the exact same car will yield different results.
True sometimes but then the question is, which result do we trust? The one you favour or the one the others favour :)
What specifically are you saying here? On almost any race with any other channel on TH-cam, the TLX gets gapped by pretty much anything in its class.
Wow infinity took every race
Are you using the Acura tlx type S launch control?
It really wouldn't make much of a difference tbh

Interesting that the numbers on the Q60 RS are less than the Chevy SS online. Does the Infiniti have any work on it? Is something going on with the SS Sedan?
