As a frequent visitor to Palm Springs (from Huntington Beach). I’ve rented homes to stay in off of Vista Chino. I’ve rented during the windy times, and yes it got windy for just a couple of hours and it wasn’t terrible and I never thought “I wouldn’t want to live in the North area”, so I wouldn’t let it scare you if purchasing in the northern side. The only thing I would contemplate as an owner is the frequency of having to have your pool maintenance person come to clean out the pool. IF you have surrounding trees or brush that shed a lot of small leaves (bougainvilleas are a very popular plant used in the area) then they can be blown into the pool during the windy times. Otherwise just simply plan on getting a top end automatic pool sweeper and you’re set! (If I was a teenager, I would soooo advertise in my neighborhood to do a quick sweep for neighbors pools after windy days and make some extra cash!) 😄
