+Speed50 being in England the authentic helmets are around $85 more than it would be to buy in America. Also the replica helmets are around £100 which $145. Found a few bargains on eBay and only collect the speed helmets are I prefer the design but long term will get a few throwback :)

I just recently got into making my own helmets, I did actually paint mine at home though using Dupli-Color automotive spray paint for my Eagles Revolution Speed helmet, it came out great. I also made an Ohio State using the same paint. But this collection is motivation to step my game up. I am making a Florida State helmet this weekend. I want exact paint matches and can not find the match in spray paint. You think you can use regular paint? If not what colors sis you use for yours? Also where do you order your stickers from? Last question, What if your helmet has a big gash in it? Puddy?
Michael Tapp, one of my favorite helmets is the FSU. The only way to get an exact match is order it from Riddell/Schutt or have a credible reconditioner do it to spec. I have 3 FSU helmets now and they are all different shades of Gold that the team has used over the years. My speed FSU is the lightest shade of gold that was used very briefly by the team....and changed. Apparently didn't look good on tv but looks great in real life to me. All my helmets are professionally painted from the factory or a reconditioner. I do not paint my own helmets. No way I could find all the exact paint matches. The FSU decals are genuine from ADI and from the team. Hope that helps....
AyeeDubz I've always thought helmets were cool. Racing, football, military but it's started with one helmet back in the 80,s when I played HS ball. I got one as a gift and then another and another. Unfortunately I don't have those anymore and finding stuff to keep it going was impossible back then....before internet. The current collection has been in the works for about 18 years......ever changing and no end in sight. I see a helmet on Tv, if I like it I try to put it together. Getting parts and everything. I tried to complete the major leagues first, NFL, CFL and some NCAA and go from there lol

Rafaelraider lol thanks very much! Well I think I might do a video of me doing up a helmet, one of my upcoming projects I have. I have a few NCAA projects in the planning. From a $$ perspective, it's definitely more expensive to do a helmet from parts like I do. As you can see I have many different masks(a lot of titanium ones, they're not cheap), chinstraps, hard cup, colored (I just ordered some Sportstar chinstraps), and all the other little details that I get. Shipping, bribing, painting, recoating masks in some cases. For me it's the thrill of the chase. A lot of the helmets I did were north of $500 when all said and done. So surely cheaper to buy it already done up. Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks again for your kind comments....
Christian Mcdonald I got the helmet painted by Riddell and picked up the decals from the Dolphins and the accessories from various other places. All my helmets are projects and put together over time from different places.
Most are directly from the manufacturer, sometimes online sellers. All are new, never used. All padding intact and working. Some are sent out for custom paint/reconditioning or repainted professionally. No home made paint jobs.
Mike Cowdrey some I have had for many years. Had them reconditioned and painted. Search Schutt helmets online. You should be able to find a bunch of them. Ebay has a few good sellers of Schutt....

Thanks. It's a hobby I really enjoy. And collection keeps getting bigger! Some updates on the way soon... What teams are you looking for? My first choice is always trying to contact the EM of the team and see if they will give me a set. Most usually do when I tell them what I do. Next I have a few select sellers on eBay/online that after years of trial and error, I have narrowed it down to the best decals, as close to if not identical to the actual logo. ADI is the maker of most decals so I always look for them first. Thickness, accuracy of graphics, color etc. You can see in my videos, extra decals stuck everywhere, those are the ones that didn't make it lol. Good luck in your journey.....
Thanks so much for the reply. I'm VERY anxious for your next update. I live, eat and breathe football so starting my collection has brought me great joy. I purchased an authentic full size USC Schutt but the side trojan decals are much smaller than they are when watching on tv. They only measure 3.5 inches and aren't even placed correctly. I'm not a USC fan but really want actual size side decals, rear buper decal and PAC 12 decal. I'm missing a rear bumper and PAC 12 decal from my Schutt UCLA authentic. I would love to get a Clemson front bumper, rear bumper and the other back of the helmet decals for my Schutt authentic helmet. My NFL's are Riddell Speed so I wanted a different style for my college helmets. Tom
Enjoy the hunt and journey of collecting. I know what you mean about the "authentic" helmets. The only thing IMHO authentic is that it's a helmet. They do lack the detail(color match paint, decals) that I look for when doing a helmet(I am always making adjustments, getting new masks, chinstraps etc until I'm satisfied) Most of the decals on the authentic are not the same as the team ones. I should have another update in a few weeks as I have a few projects in the works :-) Good luck!
