Football helmet restore. Restoring DIY man cave idea. Make your own NFL helmets. How to clean whiten football helmet. Reconditioning and recertification. Prepping. Helmet build step by step
Love the video! Been thinking about getting into a few helmet projects and looking for any help I can get. What kind of sandpaper do you use to get all the paint off (as much as you can at least) and then what kind of paint to get the shell at the end?
And NEVER a heat paint stripper! just warm them slightly with a dryer and they come off easy. Any good label residue cleaner safe for plastic takes off the goo. Some comes right off with WD-40.
@@faithfulcollections8910 E-Bey. They sell all the N.F.L teams real decals. They go from 17 to 30 bucks!. They have all the other decals like the N F L Logo and warning labels. They are the thick 3ply decals. Very authentic!
I use 400 very lightly, 800 lightly followed by 1000, then maybe 2000. Might use some filler in between. If you are keeping it the color of the plastic, you can then just turtle wax it to finish it out. Don't use off brand paint, and only use paint made for plastic. I restore a lot of youth white helmets and don't ever need to paint them if they are to be left white, and the look like new with just the sanding and paint (a few deep nicks may still show) I use a de-waxing cleaner safe for plastic before painting.

What color and brand of gold did you use? I've been having a hard time finding a gold that matches.
Great video! Green Gridiron said that those pesky warning labels can come off with a hair dryer.
Thanks for posting!

Where did you have the stickers made?
What brand of spray paint did you use and what colors
Very good soup to nuts demonstration. The one area I need more instruction on is removing and reinstalling the inside padding. ????
Are the pads in your helmet velcrowed in there, or is it bolted. Velcrow?
@@faithfulcollections8910 Hello Thank you for getting back..2 styles the Riddell VSR4 center top pad and MacGregors padding with rivets.
Where did you get the strips and the SF sticker?
Nice! I’m doing a cowboys helmet and am trying to see how people are doing this.
Exactly what I’m doing. But for the Vikings!
jack launius I’m doing a Vikings one what paint are you using because I’m having a hard time matching the paint color with their helmets
You ever end up doing that cowboys helmet?
Great work!!!! What spray paint brand and color you use?
Where did you get the decals?
What color n brand you use for the spray paint and where you get the decals and what price
The decals are hardest to find. Look for used hard hats with the team logo on them. Usually 3-5 bucks at swaps
