When you're pouring oil out of the bottle, keep the spout uppermost by holding the bottle on its side. This applies to any size bottle with the spout to one side.

Excellent video, unbelievable how easy it is and to think I have been paying£450 for a oil and filter’s,but they did check my tyre pressure’s too and threw some injector cleaner in the tank, never again, thanks again.Have to start calling you the English “Scotty Kilmer”😆👍🏻

Don’t worry too much about that oil build up on your intake pipe, they commonly get that on the D5 engines. I would just check the tightness of that jubilee clip, it may be slightly loose, allowing air to escape and the oil sludge is due to the crankcase ventilation system being upstream of it. However a small amount of oil is perfectly normal on these engines, especially at this age.

Very informative video that gives good advice. I think you may find that the electronic reading needs the car to be driven a good few miles before it gives a true reading. Also check that the oil filter rubber gasket is the correct match as I have seen a round profile one that isn't suitable for some filters.

the round one is for the non Biturbo engines so the 163 hp and the 185 hp. others have the "oval" one

Thank you for the video. I wouldn't reccomend castrol. They pay brands big money to get the association while their oil quality is usually lower than Motul, Liqui Moly or Ravenol. Lots of testing has consistently shown the aforementioned brands are much better. I generally get a Volvo spec Liquid Moly 0W-30, but any of the aforementioned brands meeting OE spec should well exceed the quality of castrol shampoo.

Which oil extrator do you use? Have you done the fuel filter and reprimed with the extractor.

This might sound like a silly question, but why do you change your oil so regularly? I'd be interested to know... I normally leave mine either 12 months or 10-12k miles whichever is sooner.

To reduce the amount of aluge that builds up, it keeps the engine cleaner and soot free :) That feeling you get on fresh oil stays a lot longer too :)
