Thank you. Just bought a beautiful xc70. And have been changing my oil for decades, the changing of the filter is unique to Volvo and I appreciate your time in recording this. Very helpful.

Excellent videos! To make more room for the filter housing and filter, I also release the two metal "spikes" holding the passenger -side headlight housing. I slid the headlight housing forward enough so the PS reservoir moved into the said space. I am able to re-install the filter AND the filter house together as a unit from the top.

Thank you for this useful footage. You rock!
In my service manual Volvo recommends Castrol.
I can't wait to drive my first all electric Tesla and get away with all this nonsense.
You inspired me to do my 1st personal hands on oil change tomorrow and I'm over 50.
Dealership wants to charge $110 plus I would have to drive 2:40 minutes round trip costing around $90 plus the wait time probably another 2-3 hours. I have the Castrol Edge oil and the filter for $50. So basically Doing the job myself saves me $150 minus my work.
    Still at least $100.

No sales pitches, no gimmicks. You rock! God bless you!
    I drive a 2012 XC70 3.2 and I installed a new battery recently.
Is there a way to reset the "Low battery" false indicator?
We checked the new battery after 6 weeks it is awesome!
The dealership wants to charge me $220 for resetting the computer.
I really hope this is my last car with combustion engine.
Forget about these crooks. Also now I have rainwater leaking into the cabin close to the driver seat. Most likely the sunroof well drain is clogged.
Also no more sunroof for me.

      36mm socket 6 point. Not a 12 point. A ratchet (3/8 or 1/2 will do)
      A size 30 TORX bit, and a 17mm 6 point socket
A 12 inch extension for whatever size ratchet you got.
As for lifting the XC70. You can go to Walmart and they have the black ramps. However. I'd get a 3 ton car jack with 3 ton jack stands.

Если делать как вы, сначала элемент, потом крышку затянуть, то щелчка точно не будет, он не садится в крышку и при демонтаже элемент остаётся в корпусе. PS reservoir goes down, and then comes out complete. also pull filter u
after unscrewing to allow anti drain back to release. you'll hear extra oil draining then. I use Quaker state 5w30 conventional in 09 xc70 and synthetic in our 2011. also had 87 240 with over 500k, no engine work, b230f engine. Les from Saskatchewan

    • @lesr9417
      @lesr9417 7 ปีที่แล้ว

Yes, I just thought you might be re-doing it, not a criticism. I also noticed that you're using Mobil 1, and Volvo recommends Castrol, so I just thought I'd cast another alternative. I've tried Castrol, but have moved back to Quaker State since our XC70 seems happier with the conventional 5W30. We've always used Q/S back to my 1972 142e and we also did dry track racing with Volvo's (at places like Gimli, MB) and the Q/S racing oil (20/50 without an additive package) was the only thing to keep up oil pressure in those older cast iron blocks. I would not recommend the 10W30 in cold SK winters since I blew out the oil seals when I went onto the highway without warming our 1982 240 up. No problems, just had to pull the engine and put in new seals (on delivery tube between pump and oil galleries) after I was driving it for a while with the oil pressure light at low rpm. Yes, pretty dumb. But no damage to either engine bearings (rods, mains) at all. Good oil, IMO. FWIW.

Hi, I have a 2008 XC70 3.2. I have a big problem : the oil filter is completely stuck. I have the right socket but I tried for over 1h just to remove the filter cover with no success. My back and my arms feel awfully painful so I let the car with no oil for now. My wrench is not as long as yours and is blocked by the cables and the steering fluid reservoir. Maybe the solution would be to buy one but I can't use my car to go and buy one... Do you have another idea? The ideal would be not to tow the car to a garage if possible given moreover that I bought for 150$ of supplies for the oil change. It would really help me. Thank you very much

    • @volvosweden

      Kalvin Lo he has a 2012 s80 T6 turbo
since your 2015 then you and him have the same generation T6 so both of ya are 3.0 turbo engines
2006 and older T6s are 2.8 liter size capacity
      s80 T6 turbo 2007 to 2016 have the same 3.0 engine
if yours is v70 T6 it means you have the wagon ..and thats the only difference there is
.same drive train (engine, transmission )

      Kalvin Lo
      no its a T6 so its a 3.0 + turbo
3.2 is the naturally aspirated one (non-turbo) for the current generation
3.2 although slightly bigger it is less powerful because its not aided by the turbocharger but mechanically its almost the same ..thats why they both have the same oil capacity
      which is 7.4 liter
if times goes back i would have choose the non turbo version 3.2
      its powerfull enough
      no turbo lag.
less maintenance less complex (no turbo means no turbo leak which is hard to reach to repair which means more labor hour for mechanics and if it fails thats one hefty part to buy $$$ + replace even more $$$)

    A question.
The T6 is twin turbo or just one turbo ?
How about the km per litre of gallon ?

One turbo. 12 l/100km city, around 9 highway. Same as 3.2

I'm sure my 3.2 states 0w-30 oil. I know 5W-30 can be used. Why is this your preference Uri over the 0W-30?

+Glenn McKee This was my very first oil change when I bought the XC70.
Since I am using 0W30. Just recently proved why 0 is better then 5 here th-cam.com/video/k1x1FgV_1-w/w-d-xo.html

Why in the world do auto shops want to charge over 100 dollars to change the oil in a volvo?? My fiance has a 2008 s80. She told me it costs over 100 the last time she had it changed. I couldn't believe it. So I looked around. Sure enough every place wanted 100 or more. So I looked into doing it myself. It takes nothing fancy!! 5 dollar filter. Standard 5w30 oil. A ten dollar wrench gets the filter cap off. What a bunch of BS. The cost doing it myself would be about 40 with buying the wrench. each time after 30 tops. Unbelievable.
