My 15" mid 2014 MacBook Pro is turning 10 years old this summer, I think it deserved it's retirement lol, so I ordered the highest standard spec 13" M3 MacBook Air (10 core GPU, 512GB storage, 16GB unified memory), should serve me well.
my early 2015 pro is also giving up. would you recommend to buy a m3 air 10 core gpu 512gb and 16 memory or buy a refurbished m2 air with higher specs?
@@Ajlavish I don't think that there's any point in buying a refurbished M2 with specs highter than what you mentioned. Higher than 16GB memory and 512GB would mean 24GB memory and 1 or 2TB of storage and if you really need that, I'd advise you to buy a MacBook Pro instead of the MacBook Air.
The fact that I went with the higher spec Air is probably already questionable, in most cases, the base model will do just fine, I only did it because I thought I spend the money on it so it will hopefully last as long as my old Pro.
Long story short: If I were you, I'd go for the M3, there's no point in a MacBook Air with 24GB memory and if you truly need so much memory, buy a MacBook Pro, otherwise the M3 will do just fine.
I’m in a similar boat.. mid 2015 MBP with 16gb and 256 SSD still going solid.

@@Ajlavish honestly just two things, that being that I thought the slightly higher specs might increase the longevity and the second reason was just that I had the extra money to burn.
I just feel more comfortable with 16GB of memory instead of 8, although I’m guessing that 8GB would be fine for most things that I do, so I think that I (just like most people that will buy an Air) would be fine with the base model, buy I still upgraded because I could, as dumb as it sounds lol.

I ordered a 14” M3 Pro MBP refurb. Just the baseline 18/512, but it was 1700 instead of 2 grand. Moving up from a 2018 MBP

Great Video. I’m a Windows user looking to buy my very first Macbook. I like the pro model. Also, I like the 16 inch screen due to my dyslexia. I feel I could see the screen better.
I have a personal blog and want to edit photos and videos with my future MacBook.
I was thinking about getting the 16 GB memory with 512 SSD. Is that enough memory? for editing photos and video? If not, I may be able to go to 1TB. Also thinking of going with the 3M pro chip. Or is the M3 Max chip worth the up grade?
What would you recommend? I want to k eep my MacBook for a while but future proof it. My current budget right now is $2600-$3200. I plan to get a MacBook in the next two months.

I have a 2017 Mac book pro 13 inch and the battery life really sucks at less than 2 hours. Thanks for the review because I'm considering the newest M3 Macbook.
I really don't think the extra $100 for the M3 chip over the M2 is worth it unless you're also getting the 16GB ($200) and 512GB ($200) upgrades. Undemanding users will do fine with the $999 M2; demanding users should probably prioritize the 16GB and 512GB upgrades over getting the M3 chip. The price point and configuration ladder that makes the most sense to me:
• $999: M2, 8GB, 256GB (undemanding users)
• $1,199: M2, 16GB, 256GB (people who really, really can't spend $200 more, though maybe better go refurb/used?)
The sweet spot for more demanding users is around here:
• $1,399: M2, 16GB, 512GB
• $1,499: M3, 16GB, 512GB
And if you want bigger storage:
• $1,599: M2, 16GB, 1TB
• $1,699: M3, 16GB, 1TB
Question.. what if I’m using Sketchup? I’m no architect or interior designer.. just the basic Sketchup with their free plugins for rendering interior design. Can the MBA 15 inch M3 handle it?
Do you think it’s worth it for an every day regular user to buy the m1 MacBook Air, but with 16gb ram and 512gb ssd? I would love those specs on an m2 or m3 but it’s too expensive. Or if I’m just an every day user, are those upgrades even necessary?

I've always felt this is the closest thing to the 2019 Macbook Pro's with it's size that won't break the bank and is essentially, up to date with OS support and Apple Silicon.

Such a tough choice between the 14” or 16” Pro. I need something that’s gonna rip through Lightroom and FCP so the Pro or Max chip is also a hard choice for me.
Nope … someone has tested (well, by this weekend a few people have) and found the M3 MBA base with 256Gb has restored read/write speeds like the M1 MBA … quite possibly by switching back to two SSD chips. Apple heard the gripes. Yay.
Would anyone notice the difference? I dunno … if you have 8GB RAM and 256Gb … what kind of corner use case will stress the 8GBs of RAM, then start swapping out to HDD (SSD) a lot, hitting that speed limit….?
I bought the new MBA M3 today, 13 inch Midnight color. Gonna return it since fingerprints is still a massive issue. However, I’m just gonna go with another colour!
Feels hard to believe my M1 Air is nearly 3 years old. Honestly really doesn't feel like it's really aged at all to me. Got the model with the 7-core GPU, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB SSD and it still runs as well now as it did when I bought it. Also the first laptop I've owned in years that doesn't have any considerable issues that would make me want to upgrade like a dim display or not enough RAM.
Feels like if you are thinking of getting an m3 air you might as well get either a refurbished macbook pro with an mpro chip or the m2 air series.
Not everybody needs the Pro though.
The Mac Mini can also drive 2 „external“ Displays 😊
Does buying the m2 macbook pro make more sense now? Especially if you really want those ports, cooling system, etc but cant afford a M3 pro chip 👀
Regarding the disk speed of the base model air 15 inch I can tell they did indeed fixed the slow ssd problem. Getting about 2700-2800 mb read and write in black magic.
Who should get the M3 Air? Anyone with an iPhone that doesn't work with CPU/GPU high intensity routine tasks.
- High school kids.
- College students not majoring in finance/economics/accounting/engineering.
- Blue collar workers
- Office administrators
- People with a small TH-cam or Tic toc channel.
The Air is far more capable than the scenarios you’ve listed above.
@charles_wren_films Yes you can push it's limits, but it really isn't built for more CPU/GPU intensive tasks than what I mentioned.

I enjoy your videos. I suggest you maybe use the MacBook or else compare the different MacBooks when used on high energy, ram, storage, chip capacity usage Applications such as Cinema 4D or any 3d modeling and or animation app. Furthermore use that alongside side with any Adobe creative apps for image and video editing and creation app, for example or any app used for the same purpose. I know not everyone has a MacBook for these reasons but I just want to be optimistic and believe these very powered machines are used by many for high demanding tasks other than just productively or media consumption. It would be very nice, I believe for many, to see how reliable these machines really are for such tasks because, really spending so much money on something that really isn’t that big of a difference than an M1 or M2 MacBook or any other computer with similar specs would be very much disappointing.

Question for everyone, I have an m2 air and old 2017 old MacBook Pro, i want to trade in both of them but should i get a Upgrade Base M3 MacBook Pro 24gab RAM/ 1TB SSD for 1079 or go with the M3 Pro version with 36gb RAM and 512gb SSD for 1479?? Would be appreciate it, (Don’t want any comments on saying “Why” “You already have an M series chip”, i just graduated and first in my in family to be getting a college degree so which option i best?? If I were on a budget I would get one of the last M1 MacBook Airs for $750 or less. And, the base model SSD has two NAND chips, meaning faster R/W speeds.
For a student, should I go for 24G RAM for a MacBook Air? . I have some video and photo editing usually for school projects.
At that point you're better going for a 14" M3 Pro MBP. It comes with baseline 18GB RAM which will be enough, plus you get fans for better performance and a much more powerful chip. Keep an eye on the refurbished section for a deal.

The lines between models is so blurry now, how would the air models do teaching online live classes? The pro’s have fans for heat management, how hot do airs run?
If you’re doing high demand programs, for more than 20 minutes they get pretty hot.

It’s kinda messed up that they updated the 15 so soon. I haven’t even had my 15” M2 for a year yet.
And still with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage for the base model. Unforgivable.
The majority will use those computers to make emails, browsing, and watching Netflix.
If you want to use it as a real laptop to get work done, then consider the macbook pro. That's just how Apple envisions it.

8GB is bad by modern standards. No excuses.
However, there are other options. Refurbished M1 MacBook Pro 14-inchs are great value. Then there are Lenovo ThinkPad T14 G3/Gen 4. Both versions offer adjustable RAM and SSD.
The hair looks great today. Lol Seriously, I’m holding out for a 27 or 32 inch imac. Call me old fashioned i still like a desktop.

Apples website is never the place to buy from unless it's refurbished or if you really need more memory or storage. Best buy sold the M2 Air 13 for as low as $899 from what I've seen. I do have best buy total so that's the price I saw . Could be $50 higher

Pointless buying the iPad mini 6 now as it was released in September 2021 so has already lost 2 years of software support.Might as well wait for the iPad mini 7 which is expected to be coming in September/October.

I sold my m2 air and i bought m1 air because i could't see any important difference between them (except screen size). I think there is same issue about m2 and m3. Just buy m2.
M2 model has complete redesign and way thinner bezels.
