    Wow. I inherited a 2009 Lexus RX350 and have been supremely less than impressed with the engineering and placement of items. This absolutely takes the cake, though. It's ridiculous to bury something like this. Lexus engineers should be ashamed, honestly.

    I really want to thank you for making this video. I would not have attempted the repair without it. just got my amplifier back from OEM auto audio today via UPS 02-03-23 and reinstalled and it works! It truly is incredible that Lexus would design Its sound system like this. The amp belongs under the passenger dashboard, not crammed under layers of trunk covering, plastic molding, requiring spare tire removal, removal of ten machine nuts in 10 and 12 mm sizes , a dozen plastic snaps plus prying reinforcing spanning bridges to repair.
    Joe at OEM is a class act, and a really smooth operation for arranging for the UPS shipping, prompt repair, and returning it.
    Very rare to see this kind of hassle free service.

      That looks huge...there's no way that would fit in the dashboard. I believe Lexus engineers know better than you when it comes to placement and they have a good reason for placement.

      @@jasonsims007 You are very naive if you think that engineers know exactly what they are doing in advance and plan it all along. My three brothers are mechanical engineers Ford, Chrysler , General Dynamics. You would not believe the horror storiesI’ve heard. But admittedly, as a MD, thus beyond my expertise. I guess part of the design consideration may be the probability of failure vs effort to remedy the situation.

    This is a very good video. I would definitely operational check the stereo system before burying the Amp back under all that stuff.

    This video was so helpful. I think I found a way to reduce the number of steps to get the amp out. At least for the Mark Levinson version. I instead of taking it our with the brackets I took the 4 screws holding the amp the the left and right bracket. you can get to 3 of the 4 boltss from the trunk without removing the bolts for the cross member (spans the width of the car) and the bolts for the cross member that is over the rear passenger wheel. To get to the last screw you follow the video to where you take off the rear passenger side trim and move the seat forward... then you can get a wrench in there to remove the last bolt. Then unplug the wires and pull out through the trunk side.

    Lexus how do you F up a radio, and to add insult to injury make it so complex and difficult to repair? This radio problem is pervasive. I have a Lexus 2010 RX 350. Tried replacing the 7.5 A fuse at slot #4 on the drivers side fuse box but the fuse was good. Ugh so it was the amp. When I turn on the car, I get an initial audio “clunk,” but otherwise the radio controls are dead- exactly as you describe and no sound. And by the way, getting at the fuse box under the driver’s side dash was a royal PIA to access . I had to remove screws with a Philips screw driver to remove a panel to get access. Not what is portrayed on the quick fix fuse replacement how-to- videos or in the owner’s manual.
    Bought a pack of push pin fasteners from Amazon for my engine coverings. These are different than the simple push pins you describe except for the last three. My experience from the engine cover fasteners is that once you pry them out, they are ruined and have to be replaced. But thanks for one of the most concise well organized videos out there with attention to detail and camera view. Btw, how much did OEM Audio charge for the repair vs the cost of a brand new amp…. If you can find one?

    • @SuburbanRanch
      @SuburbanRanch  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @H Zilla I was surprised how difficult it was to get the amp out, hopefully the video helps! Replacing the push pins is a good idea! I believe OEM Auto Audio charges around $300 and that includes shipping both ways. I did not price out a new unit, but I’m sure it is MUCH more expensive.

      The radio as he said was built by Pioneer not LEXUS. Lexus/Toyota specifies the specs for Pioneer to build.

      Mine is doing the same thing. After a month of no radio response and now taking out and checking receiver connections it started working intermittently. But it makes a popping sound when cranked if it isn't going to work. If it is going to work it just starts playing music. There is a brown connection in the trunk and if we disconnect and reconnect that and then restart it works. Then all of a sudden it doesn't work again after a few cranks. So I assumed short. But do you think this could be amp going bad also?
