This set was purchased from the UK. It is scheduled to release in the Americas on August 1. A similar real-life locomotive is the now-defunct NS Class 1200. The 2018 Passenger Train will be reviewed on its own time.
I thought that those trains are going to be released in August or September all over the world.... Even in the German catalog they are listed as September releases.... I myself live in Europe and I haven't seen them anywhere.
Cool! Nice review, I love the looks of the locomotive. Definitely going to get one! And congrats on your whopping 1M subscribers, you've totally earned it!
The one thing that I really like about this set is it's compatibility with other recent cargo sets, notably the last cargo train and the Cargo Terminal. The pallets are all the same size and style which is cool.
LEGO needs to go back to selling individual carriages as well like they used to. The new passenger train looks too short and like it is missing the other end. Oh and bring back a proper station
I find the LEGO trains more fun than the actual model trains because of the process of building the train, it gives you more satisfaction when you’re done building it
Also just like model railroads, these are expandable. And with an unlimited number of Lego blocks and even basic building sets the possibilities are only limited to ones imagination.
LEGO train sets are more than just a playset and more than just a train. LEGO trains are big, probably around O scale model trains. Those are not cheap, by any means, and track wiring, buying buildings/accessories gets expensive. With this set, the train not only gives the child the opportunity to fully build it, they can also do the electrical (power functions) without getting shocked. In addition, it allows the child to build and rebuild track on the floor or a table, adding their own LEGO sets and minifigs. It is a true win/win overall! Great review
Just bought for Prime Day Sale. Fabulous buy and I can’t wait. My very first Lego train set and even though you may say it’s leaning towards children for play. I’m sure as an adult I’ll love it. The new Bluetooth tech is a win for me hook line and sinker.
Very slick train set! I love the continuity between sub-themes with the arctic style snowmobile. I'm also glad Lego got away from the "racing forklifts" (ridiculous forward rake).
Nice, i will probably get this set for Christmas. In my opinion it looks like the British class 37, the only thing i dont like about this it that they involved a robber with the set, its like can we get something with out the police and robbers???!!!!!
Collecting (a lot of) Lego is super expensive, so the service you're providing with your reviews is truly helpful for all of us with a limited budget. Just wanted to say that. I always watch your reviews before deciding to buy a set or not. Thank you!
Im a HUGE Lego train collector and Moc train builder and this is a pretty cool set. I would like to see Lego release more train type of Lego sets since there is a huge fan base for this kinda stuff!
Absolutely love the rolling shots of your city with the trains! I'm very much looking forward to getting this to combine with the last cargo terminal set. I really think there is a lot to do with this to make a proper shipping yard.
I love the brick-built cab; the new power system looks great! Lego stream locomotives have such a big fan base, they should really make some more! Love the vid, Jang! :)
Great video Jang! I have to say, I wasn't blown away by the previews of this set. It looked OK, but compared to 60052, it was underwhelming. Watching your walkthrough though, I realise - IMO - it's still not as good of a train and set as that one, but it is really, really good! I have underestimated it and I do like the selection of carriages a lot but, I do wish LEGO would start selling single carriages again. Thanks for the review.
Very unusual with an end buffer, I thought it was the first official one but there's actually been at least 2 before (minifig sets), in 4553 Train Wash from 1999 and 167 Car Transport Wagon from 1978.
see to me this set is unique, because when I think of lego city, I think of, city, or community and everything ties in to one another, which most series don't often have tie ins like this one does, it ties in with artic explorers, which they just brought back this year, and ties in with police, because of the robber, and the bank truck, so there is tons of room for thought and creativity for someone who notices it. and with the logging trailer, to me that's my favorite, because I loved, loved, loved the logging sets, so with that trailer, that offers an another available tie in, so to me, this is one of the best city train sets there has been.
I had a feeling that Jang would be very pleased to review a Lego train set, we all know how much he likes trains! I guess if someone wanted to buy this set, which is quite expensive, you might as well check on line and compare prices, or look for it to come on special in stores, that's always good advice, shop and compare. Cool review Jang!
I like the set, trains are cool, cranes are cool, can you go wrong with a set that has both? I think not... I do wish the older motors were directly compatible with the 2.0 system. Do you know if it is an issue with the types of motors used in each (brushed vs brushless)?
I had lost interest in new LEGO sets, but this seems like a good set, and got me back into new sets. I will definitely get it when it comes to the US. Great review Jang!
for some reason that stack of gold and money really appeals to me. Also the forklift is pretty awesome. I wasn't impressed with the Arctic line up but this set is quite good.
What I’ve noticed is that many years ago, lego started using leg printing a lot, and then around a year or two ago, lego was always using leg printing, but now they don’t use it as much. But I kind of like the small change. It doesn’t bother me and in a way, it saves time for lego.
I'm getting this set solely for the new Power up module system (controller, Reciever and motor). I hoping lego will create a programming environment for the power up system . I want to start creating custom applications.....
Hey Jang I really enjoyed your past train collection showcase. Now that I see you’ve done more train reviews (and probably made some of your own) will you ever consider doing another one?
Seems like some cool integration between sets. The log cart for the forester machine from a little time ago, the vehicle in the red wagon looks straight from the arctic series, and finally a reason to use all those police figures with this bank van
Glad you finally reviewed this set. I didn't want to watch a review from someone else. :P Nice to see the crossover with the Arctic theme and also police, with the criminal. All part of one big LEGO world. :) It's a big price, but hey, model trains are expensive, so is LEGO. Why not combine two expensive hobbies into one? :D I've got the Emerald Night and that train was somewhat complex setting up the power functions. This looks easier, but I'm not sure how this system would work with steam engines. Which, LEGO needs to make more!
I like how the locomtive blended the 7898 cargo train's locomotive, and the double-ended cab unit design (with pantogrpahs, it reminds me of the New Haven electric locomotives, without them, I would guess it was based of a danish diesel!) The crane car was a neat addition! I kinda want to see the cab used on a truck, and a tower! I would've made the control tower have a semaphore signal. It's the type that has a long bar that moves up and down! 2:26 it would be cool if they used a 3x3 cross plate at the railroad crossing sign! The train sounds from the device you're using is similar to that of Bachmann's E-Z app system for specially equipped HO scale locomotives!
Hey Jang After watching this review i noticed something. Each year Lego brings out different sets that contain pallets/freight/containers. Do you think they should try to standardize pallets/storage containers/freight? The reason i ask then sets can be interchangeable with each other. Rather than having to adapt it yourself, should Lego do it? Love to hear your thoughts
I definitely agree. I'm a big fan of standardization and would love to see a system for pallets and ISO/intermodal containers that can work for at least, say, 5 years worth of sets. They probably don't do such a thing across multiple designers because it would ultimately be restrictive to new designs, and they already have a ton of constraints to work within on every build.
Thanks for doing this review, Jangbricks! I'm planning on getting this set within the next to week for MOCing purposes (the insane mutant dual-cab post-apocalyptic hybrid electro-biofuel evolved EMD F-unit I'm planning to build with the Powered Up motor & base will be the first powered LEGO train I'll have built in over 20 years). I'll probably be keeping the crane car in its original form, though, as well as seeing about how to adapt the crane part to this small container ship I built a while back. ...Speaking of which, I'm glad that they seem to be using the more or less standard size of intermodal containers that they had on the LEGO City cargo ship they came out with about 10 years ago, since I designed all my intermodal stuff, including a narrow-gauge intermodal freight car & the aforementioned cargo ship around that size standard. Also, that bank truck looks like it should be fairly easy to modify to have two seats up front, since the build is 6-wide with the car doors on it. And finally thanks for the fairly detailed breakdown on how Powered-up works, since the last time I messed around with a motorized LEGO train of any type was the 7722 set I got for Christmas back in 1988, which used the old 4.5v battery system, lol.
Man I love electric train toys. Into HO scale model trains personally but I love the look and function that Lego train sets provide. May have to get a set one day.
So, which Cargo train is your favorite? I have the 7939 train and I'm about to get the 60052 train, so I'm kind of interested on hearing your thoughts.
Is is weird they use an electric train engine but have one of the cars have a crane. Seems like the crane would have trouble operating with wires above it.
I saw only ONE coffee cup! What about the bank truck or the locomotive? Or is Lego trying to encourage people to not drive/operate machinery while distracted? Still, this is a fantastic set and would be a worthy addition to any layout.
16 strait tracks are great, usually you just get a few. I'm looking forward to being able to buy this set in Norway from my local Lego dealer. I don't have too much track in my city, but I think I will have to see if I can add another level to parts of the city so that I can run my trains for a longer route.
Regarding the white rubber band, you can get bags of small rubber bands in different colors in woman hair departments as some stores. They may be what you are looking for to ensure that forklifts don't have as much power as they do with the official rubber band.
Me as a kid: I'm gonna make the biggest and bestest lego city, just like Jang! Me today: I'm gonna make the biggest and bestest- *looks at price tag* Holy Fish.
This is better than I expected. I'm glad the train doesn't have to be controlled by the app if you don't have a mobile device. Do you have to program with WIFI is my question. The price may seem worse in comparison to other Lego freight train sets but there are more side builds and track. I love the amount of straight tracks. 16. Thank you Lego. We've been crying out for more straight tracks since the 9volt trains were retired 12 years ago when you gave us the option to buy straight tracks separately and not with curves or flexible track. The value of this cargo train set is the best since the 9volt trains. Thumbs up Lego ❤️👍🏼😀
other then the fact it's using blue tooth instead of IR the powered up system feels like a down grade seeing as you can't have more then two things connected to each bat box and you don't have the option to get a rechargeable bat box yet.

This was based on a Dutch train?! Heck yea! I’m from the Netherlands!
man I really want this set but it is so expensive
What site did you purchase them on
JANGBRiCKS Jang, I saw the new passager bullet train from 2018. Can you review it pleeeeease?? :3
I always love when LEGO does those little nods to other themes like that arctic snowmobile!
Nice little sneaky cameo there by the new passenger train.
This is a really nice set! I really like when Lego City combines themes into one set, like how there’s a robber and arctic vehicle!
LEGO needs to go back to selling individual carriages as well like they used to. The new passenger train looks too short and like it is missing the other end. Oh and bring back a proper station
Alex S im just gonna buy two passenger train sets to complete the rain and extend it.
Ikr
I find the LEGO trains more fun than the actual model trains because of the process of building the train, it gives you more satisfaction when you’re done building it
I agree. Bachman trains are cool, but you can simply DO more with a LEGO one.
Huh , well i guess i wasn't the only one thinking this!
Also just like model railroads, these are expandable. And with an unlimited number of Lego blocks and even basic building sets the possibilities are only limited to ones imagination.

loved that arrow. i wish to see more of mr. arrow in the future
i was waiting for it to derail as you make it go faster and faster, but the crashing thump at the end...totally worth it
Just bought for Prime Day Sale. Fabulous buy and I can’t wait. My very first Lego train set and even though you may say it’s leaning towards children for play. I’m sure as an adult I’ll love it. The new Bluetooth tech is a win for me hook line and sinker.
That stop thingy should have the Same “suspension” in it as the front ram thing of the dieselnault, that would be Really cool
Very slick train set! I love the continuity between sub-themes with the arctic style snowmobile. I'm also glad Lego got away from the "racing forklifts" (ridiculous forward rake).
They really should use the forklift part as a catapult in Ninjago or something!
Nice, i will probably get this set for Christmas. In my opinion it looks like the British class 37, the only thing i dont like about this it that they involved a robber with the set, its like can we get something with out the police and robbers???!!!!!

I love your channel more than others because you are straight facts no mods no baby stuff no music just plain facts and I like it
He is playing quiet music
Very VERY quiet
Im a HUGE Lego train collector and Moc train builder and this is a pretty cool set. I would like to see Lego release more train type of Lego sets since there is a huge fan base for this kinda stuff!
19:46, the driver applied the brakes but it was too late. It bashed the buffers.
TheBrickGuy7939 luckily, no one was hurt
I had a heart attack seeing it hit the tracks.
Congratulations on 1 Million Subscribers Jang!!!!!
I am really stoked about how complete this set is! You really couldn't ask for much more in this one.
Absolutely love the rolling shots of your city with the trains! I'm very much looking forward to getting this to combine with the last cargo terminal set. I really think there is a lot to do with this to make a proper shipping yard.
Well I know what’s on my list for Christmas.
I just realized how many sets have forklifts and not a single one is the same
I love the brick-built cab; the new power system looks great! Lego stream locomotives have such a big fan base, they should really make some more! Love the vid, Jang! :)
That could very well be one of the coolest Lego trains I've ever seen. so much details!!!!!!!
Great video Jang! I have to say, I wasn't blown away by the previews of this set. It looked OK, but compared to 60052, it was underwhelming. great video ... horrible price :"(
For me its a good price. Its the same price as the last set.
I got this set ordered, should arrive in a few days! I am really excited about it!
Welp! It arrived!
Good job!
I think this was a great buy for my son for his birthday.😀

Jang, I’ve been waiting so long for this!!! I’ve been watching your channel since 2014 when I started getting into LEGO! Keep up the great work!
I like the arrow that you use
What a cool train definitely one I want to add to my city layout
Congrats on 1 million Subscribers
Holy Moly, everything in this set looks amazing!
Now this is an amazing set. The variety of what's offered along with the amount of track pieces make it's price easier to justify.
Is that Yoda being harassed by seagulls???
Finally! Another train. Thank you LEGO!
What no coffee cup for the Bank Transport vehicle!
I had lost interest in new LEGO sets, but this seems like a good set, and got me back into new sets. I will definitely get it when it comes to the US. Great review Jang!
Without the pantographs removed and a few other modifications, this diesel could certainly be made into a Class 42 Warship.
TIsaacs agreed. The BR class that diesel 10 is based on in Thomas the tank engine
for some reason that stack of gold and money really appeals to me. Also the forklift is pretty awesome. I wasn't impressed with the Arctic line up but this set is quite good.

Awsome set I like the way jangs describes the sets he reviews
I'm getting this set solely for the new Power up module system (controller, Reciever and motor). I hoping lego will create a programming environment for the power up system . I want to start creating custom applications.....
Thank you for also using the metric system when talking about the size.
Seems like Lego’s best cargo train set ever to me! Great review, Jang!
This is a good looking train set we will be adding it to our collection.
Thanks for a great review Jang.
Wow cool set I wish I can get it but I am saving my money on the voltron ideas set. Cool videos and keep on building
Wow same here
Hey Jang I really enjoyed your past train collection showcase. Now that I see you’ve done more train reviews (and probably made some of your own) will you ever consider doing another one?
Waiting for 60197 review!

Woah
Great review, thanks for sharing! I just bought this set for my sons birthday. Looking forward to test the new 'Powered Up' way of controling trains.
Yaaaaaaaaaaaay Jang hit the 1mil mark!! I remember 100,000! and 5000! and 1000!
Jang you should attempt to do a turn table on you custom layout
I like how the locomtive blended the 7898 cargo train's locomotive, and the double-ended cab unit design (with pantogrpahs, it reminds me of the New Haven electric locomotives, without them, I would guess it was based of a danish diesel!)

They originally did. 4x8 frames boxes sat on smooth tile jigs.
Thanks for doing this review, Jangbricks! Your lego city train set layout looks amazing! Thanks for the video!!!
I like it and really want it
I have the blue cargo train, and this set would work really well with it!
I liked the crane most. I am planning to buy it seperately if i couldnt buy the full set. It would look great behind the 60052 engine ^^
So, which Cargo train is your favorite? I have the 7939 train and I'm about to get the 60052 train, so I'm kind of interested on hearing your thoughts.
Congrats on the 1 million subs!
Nice video. This train is nice but I like the 2014 cargo train better.
Is is weird they use an electric train engine but have one of the cars have a crane. Seems like the crane would have trouble operating with wires above it.
Another similar one is the English class 37. A historic double-ended freight train that many train spotters love.
Also my favorite english diesel train i just like the design!!!
My son and I think this is an amazing Lego set.
I saw only ONE coffee cup! What about the bank truck or the locomotive? Or is Lego trying to encourage people to not drive/operate machinery while distracted? Still, this is a fantastic set and would be a worthy addition to any layout.
Jang it ! :) You're a great factor to my son's happiness and mine too I turn back to a kid when I watch your videos :D
Jang since you use 9 volt track what do you do with the non powered track?
YES YOU DID IT! YOU REVIEWED THIS SET! IVE BEEN WAITING! *clears throat* sorry for my...excitement. YOU’RE MY FAVORITE REVIEWER EVER!
I drive forklifts as part of my profession, but I'd much rather play with the lego one
I miss watching your trains go around the city
21:24 In the bottom right:
SEAGULLS! STOP IT NOW!
Lol
This set has it all!
16 strait tracks are great, usually you just get a few. I'm looking forward to being able to buy this set in Norway from my local Lego dealer. I don't have too much track in my city, but I think I will have to see if I can add another level to parts of the city so that I can run my trains for a longer route.
This set is everything I wanted!!!
i want that sooooooo badly thank you for making the video
I always liked crane cars/breakdown trains as a kid.
Regarding the white rubber band, you can get bags of small rubber bands in different colors in woman hair departments as some stores. They may be what you are looking for to ensure that forklifts don't have as much power as they do with the official rubber band.
Love the bank truck
The bank transporter the logo is from the 2017 bank set!!!!
Wow! 16 straight tracks in one set
I only got 4 of those in one of my sets...
Me as a kid: I'm gonna make the biggest and bestest lego city, just like Jang!
Me today: I'm gonna make the biggest and bestest- *looks at price tag* Holy Fish.
I could see those "pantograph" parts making great brush-guards for ATVs and small trucks
I m back and better than ever to watch ur vids
other then the fact it's using blue tooth instead of IR the powered up system feels like a down grade seeing as you can't have more then two things connected to each bat box and you don't have the option to get a rechargeable bat box yet.
Also the blue Diesel engine set can be found in shops for £240, £60 more than this which is 4 years newer, had new tech and has much more inside
Today I ordered this on Amazon (prime day deal) for $147! If you want this set, get it now!!!!
I can’t decide
Me too just bought and with a gift card applied pay 106$ I’m extremely happy
I ordered it last night too!!
Wow your city layout is so amazing I dream of having something like that
whenever I see a train I the thumbnail, I know Jang is gonna be happy
