Operationally Gripen is better than competitors on all levels
    1- cheap
    2- Least turn around time
3- can takeoff and land on small strips even roads
4- less maintenance and high availability
5- best in class Aesa, electronic suit and weapons package
6- Similar components with Tejas and weapons package with Rafale
Any body with a bit of common sense in Indian airforce would have ordered 100+ Gripen in 2015 itself

For real.. people are crazy after Rafales.. to me Foreign Twin Jet engines dont make sense, they make u very dependent on them.. Rafales are also very expensive..
Gripen actually has the best Active Stealth due to its Superior EW suite.. better than Rafale or Eurofighter.. and now we gonna make GE414 ourself.. so makes so much more sense🤷‍♂️ if we can actually get 25jets/year then its the best!!

Saab Gripen is no-go, we already have Tejas MK1 and MK2 coming online in next 2 decades . Rafale is the only option, order qty 200 to bring the cost down and allow time to build assembly line in India, till then procure directly from France. The focus needs to be on developing and integrating Kaveri MK2 with 90 KN Thrust on Tejas aircraft. The government should spend money in acquiring flying testbed for a quick turnaround in testing of the Kaveri Engine within India.

Sabse bada problem ye hai ki Tejas can do all that grepen can do . Indigenous percentage hi important hai tho we can concentrate on Tejas Mk2 and AMCA . If we chose Indigenous fighter, only problem will be short term delay . If we have to chose foreign fighter then iur furst priority should be superiority in technology and performance , after that comes indigestion of parts.

Fir bad me trump ke ane ke bad negiotion kar ke F 15 par bath kar ke le lena chaiye russia se dependency kam karne ke liye. Fir apna program to chal hi raha hai usko or tej karne ki jarurat hai

Rather than going to another foreign vendor, it would be more reasonable to get the avionics of the Tejas Mark 2 into large scale production and install suitable Tejas components into all available Jaguar, Mig 29 and Mirage airframes that we can get hold of. Atleast these are already in use and will help the Tejas production line.

  • @tipoomaster
    @tipoomaster 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

The Gripen is a cool jet, but as far as India we should have a very similarly capable package in Tejas MK2, and MK1A is already on the way. 20 billion dollars would buy a LOT of indigenous platforms for the cost, I'd almost rather see it put towards more Netra MK1 and MK2 AWACS and then massively expand Tejas MK1A and MK2 orders. Also Sweden can offer very little geopolitical clout compared to the US or France and still relies on US engines too.

According to me we should conclude MRFA and procure 114 Rafel instead of rushing for 5th gen fighter. J31 is not a true 5th Gen fighter, even Chinese PLA also don't procuring it. On the other hand Rafael maybe 4.5 gen fighter but it's a trustworthy combat proven fighter. By using a strong networking we can detect and intercept J31 in a actual combat. Along with that we should consider a few squadron of Eurofighter with 114 Rafael as a stop gap measure. Since Dassult aviation is facing supply chain issue. While they are fixing their issues , we may procure Eurofighter on that turmoil period. Since both Rafael and Eurofighter uses Meteor , MICA missiles. So we can operate easily

Even Su30 struggling in Ladakh, how could a bulky missile truck can fly even higher altitude of Tibet, with it's full capacity ? And forget about it's stealth characteristics, there multiple NATO experts even Russian expert have admitted that J20 has design issues. So J20 will not caused as much threat as we expected. You will need to Overhaul them, Engine ka fir panga hoga. They use Rolls-Royce EJ200 engines (Tranche 1 Block 5). Plus it would then require India specific adaptations. Radar is old, you will try to put an AESA radar on it. It has an inbuilt IRST, that might be a saving grace but it will not be worth it, for sure. All your Indian made missiles will have to be paired with this. You wont be able to use the meteors that you bought for the Rafales with this... so you'll have to purchase AMRAAMS and Sidewinders from USA... By which you're again stuck in the supply chain delays.
The Eurofighter Typhoon is the same category as your Rafale, whats the bloody point of operating two platforms of the same type? This is again like buying F15s. stupid stupid idea, given you already have a massive fleet of su30mki. overhaul them, bring them up to contemporary standards. we even manufacture the bloody engines for Su30s

Going with Saab's Gripen E, in my opinion will be a compromise. Can we confidently say that we will have an upper hand even while dealing with F-16 block 70? Unfortunately situation is not conducive to take F15eX. so, may be take a risk and go for Su-57 or even Su-75.

If you look in the past Gripen fighter jets of Sweden have successfully challenged the Russian inventory ,they come with class avionics, radar and electronics, situational awareness,European armaments that are of same type as used in Rafael ,its turn around time is less ,less on maintenance and importantly they are willing to up your skill set and infrastructure it will help home grown Tejas as well the threat is real with China and Pakistan.Pakistan have AWACS of Sweden supplied by SAAB and advent of Gripen in India will counter them easily and if they go for Chinese AWACS it will raise cost and inventory, by buying Gripen you strategically counter their AWACS then Chinese J 31 does not pose much of an(immediate) challenge if you can detect them fast though later we can negotiate with the Russians , Americans for 5th generation or we can become part of fighter jet development programme of Britain's Tempest and we also need sea planes that can be from Japan as first Choice second can be Russians which will be cost effective for Navy to meet varied Challenges,we also need AWACS most of them being sleek not Bulky as proposed on Boeing Platforms and evidently wish list of dire need is big say trainer fighter aircraft , your big inventory of Drones and countermeasures , helicopter fleet,Missiles, guided bombs and rockets...
