That's why limited penetration and clearing from the outside before you push for the hard corners is better. GWOT taught us a lot of those 90's era TTPs which were for hostage rescue were terrible for real fighting.
My favourite bit of this episode is where Miller, after doing the doors and corners thing, decides that trigger happy belters may be a bigger risk than doors and corners and so kicks the door open and backs into it without looking 😂
The guy in the picture that alex was looking at was one of the guys they helped to get off of Eros. Earlier in the episode Alex was trying to help them settle in to Tycho and he said he wanted to fight the inners that kill Eros - throughline to him signing up to join the assault team, only to end up dying on the pod that was blown up by the dumb gun. Alex will remember that.
Great episode, the Battle of Thoth Station was awesome to witness. Trivial fact: the actor who plays Dresden also had a small part in Aliens; he was 'Private Spunkmeyer' and was an assistant on the dropship that brought the crew down to the planet.
In this episode I have always liked the little detail when the Roci takes fire that goes through the crew space. The molten slag from the round penetrating the hull just kinda holds there in lines criss-crossing the room because with all the air evacuated there is nothing to move it. Until the Roci turns on its main engine and it all falls to the floor. Or from the other perspective the floor, walls, chairs and everything accelerates out of its previous position leaving the projectile traces hanging in place until the floor sweeps them up with it.
I totally missed the connection because when we 1st meet Diogo, he seems like a completely down on his luck ghetto kid, certainly not somebody with access to space travel. Then he's 'suddenly' on his uncle Mateo's boat, and _then_ we pivot again to Diogo being this OPA infantry... It threw me.
@@Glimmcomp I was so confused by the Mateo scenes in space. Particularly thrown off by him taking off his face mask for a few seconds. It made me think he was an alien or zombie or something, and then when he seemingly went crazy and threw his nephew out (who I didn't recognize) and threw his ice at the Martians and got killed in the process, I was so confused, had no idea what the connection of those scenes were with anything else. I didn't even pick up on the connection between that and the MCRN being on high alert leading to the donkey balls episode. It just all seemed totally random. I certainly didn't expect the nephew to survive and show up again, and I never made the connection to the water stealer.
There's also the fact if Dresden was taken in alive Mao could pay for a Belter faction to spring him with the money he had in his back pocket. (The series doesn't really go into the full depths of factionalization and sometimes criminally of the OPA in the books)
6:10 Yeah, about the girl's glass... The Belters' culture revolves around Humanity's colonization of space. That glass is based on old zero-G sealed drinking containers -- called Bulbs -- where people consume drinks with straws or suck through a nozzle. Every solution everyone tries to come up with will be far from perfect, and all everyone can do is deal with the consequences later on -- which leads to the next dilemma.
The thing about the scientist is that he's not wrong, humanity is at a huge disadvantage to an enemy they know nothing about. Now tell that to the people in power, how quick is that guy going to be put to work on the next Eros? How many more Eros's become justifiable in the face of this existential threat? How many 'little people' get to be used up whether they know or not, agree or not in the necessary goal of saving the species?

The whole point of the last scene is to show that no matter the scale of an atrocity, with enough at stake you can rationalize anything. Miller shot him because he knew Holden and Johnson were going to let him live, use his work and thereby excuse his actions. He did the right thing. Also this is still one of my favorite space battle sequences. Just top notch. Excited to see you keep watching this :)
100% agree with you! I was on Miller's side as soon as he fired the shot, some things are not worth the cost and if we forget that we have lost our humanity.

I'm with miller on this at this point, Humanity in this show is not ready for this knowledge. If anyone has it everyone has to, or there will be war for it, and someone will use it....and no one can control it.
What if Dresden convinces his captors to let him continue his research? Maybe Miller was worried that Belters would still be guinea pigs if he was alive? I think they should have kept him alive, but the trauma of those who were on Eros...
Ya, in hindsight they should have kept him alive. They need someone with that much knowledge of the substance. Even if they could wipe it all out in our solar system that doesn't mean it gone anywhere else in the galaxy. Humanity needs to understand how it works so they can at least develop defenses against it and hopefully be able to use it to advance the species.
Yes, - Diogo - the kid Miller caught stealing water earlier, was the same guy that got thrown out the airlock by his uncle… will this be the last time we see him? 🤔 We got more than a few answers in this episode…. And some big’ol new questions! On to the next one! 🚀
They could just be lying to Dresden until after they had the data. Worst case they could let him continue analysing the data they already had from Eros and using that for a potential vaccine

Yes, Avasarala suggested to Errinwright to strike Diemos. She still needs to portray an old-school hawk. She knew the council wasn't going to dismiss the entire incident as Admiral Southern wanted. Attacking Diemos would satisfy their blood lust without, perhaps, being a more provocative attack. The UN intelligence had quickly figured out who tried to assassinate Avasarala. Right after the incident, when Errinwright looked in on her in her office, she was looking at an intel report that pictured the Black Sky guy on Tycho. Yes, the kid Diogo is the same water thief Miller nabbed and the same kid who was left floating in space by his uncle Mateo. The scene of the Roci being punctured by the steal ship reminded me of what an old WWII B-17 waist gunner told me about his plane being similarly punctured by a German fighter. He said the machine gun rounds left trails of vaporized aluminum that burned his skin when they were too close. We already know that Dresden is being backed by incredibly powerful Earthers who would want him back. Dresden insisted on continuing human experimentation...which would certainly be Belters. It only took five minutes for Dresden to make a deal with Johnson and Holden...and they're _good_ Earthers. Miller saw that.
