That end bit with the Ghoul watching his own movie and hearing the line "He was ugly, strong, and had honor...I'll give you 2 out of 3 on that" is an interesting bit, as he seems to realize that it now describes him as he currently is...the only question is whether or not he'll stop at 2 out of 3, or if he'll start trying to recover some of his old honor. Also, the pace that these videos are releasing at makes me think somebody binge-watched the series...can't say I blame you, it's a pretty amazing show (especially for a game adaptation)!
the robot fixed her finger because it was still remembering its old programming where it was only to help people. but its since been hacked and new parameters were added to harvest organs. so basically its stuck in the past while having new instructions.
While I agree with that statement, I also think it could be that he's programmed to keep their products (the people) in the best condition possible. Nothing is really confirmed at this point though, no interviews with the creators or director of the episode.

Yep they definitely appear to have retconned it. Speculation now is that in order to aid survival in a radioactive environment, West-Tek created a strain of FEV that causes human tissue to regenerate when exposed to radiation. Ghoulification was an unforeseen side effect.
@@Fieryxjoetrue, but tbf imo i like this kinda ghoul mechanic stuff. Idk why, maybe because this "the ghoul" character made it looked badass because of his lone wolf bounty hunter stuff.
When I was 14-15 I had a summer job at my mom’s workplace, she works at an old folks home, my mom works at the section where the residents have pretty advanced dementia Anyway, one morning I saw an elderly couple sitting by the tv in the common room, the lady was doting on the man, making sure he had a comfy blanket over his legs and just kept checking on him - I said to my mom that it was nice that they both got to live at the same place together in their old age. Then mom told me that he wasn’t her husband and that her husband had already passed and he was so out of it he didn’t notice anything, they let her keep doing it since it was easier than having to explain her husband was already passed, for the hundredth time. Sad but kind of sweet as well. How Steph was interacting with Chet it jogged that memory
I like how in his former life, the Ghoul was concerned about his character becoming the bad guy by shooting the man at the end but here he is…over 200 years later, he’s the bad guy who doesn’t hesitate killing someone.
I like how they have him find that very movie in the mart, and I think a mix of Lucy's kindness despite what he'd done to her, and seeing his former self, he seems to remember the good man he once was, before the wasteland turned him into a killer.
The entire ‘vials stave off ghouls turning feral’ issue is rather a MacGuffin. There is certainly some possibility that the vials you see being used in the TV show don’t actually keep ghouls from turning. But like all Unreliable Narrative devices in storytelling, some of the characters believe they do. No one really knows what keeps some ghouls from turning feral. Even the game developers, including Tim Cain, are hesitant to paint themselves into a corner on this. When asked why he didn’t turn feral, a ghoul in one of the games actually says “Maybe I didn’t take as many rads. Maybe I’m genetically tougher. Maybe it’s what I had for breakfast …”
00:15 Me too. And I think a majority of the people who watched this. I had friends start the games and fall in love with them after the show. After about a month, it didn't get played as much for me though.
I tried for years to play New Vegas and just couldn't get past how it aged as Fallout 4 was my first game in the series, the TV show comes out and since I've played through tons of 4 I decide to give NV another go and got totally hooked, what a game
My assumption with the robot fixing her finger has always been that it's essentially been confused with it's programming. You can see the caduceus symbol on the body of it, which implies it was some kind of healthcare-providing robot before the war that has since been crudely reprogrammed to harvest organs for them.

Just incase you missed the meaning, the ending of him watching one of his movies. It was the one he was arguing they wanted him to kill the guy and he didn't agree with it because it wasn't what a good role model for kids would do. He seen they edited his lines, part of his character arch.
Personally I think the reason Snip Snip fixed her finger is because he originally was programmed as the In-Mall doctor and the two guys only changed the programming they cared about. They never gave him a full reset. In other words he fixed her finger because nobody had told him not to.
I do love how Coop/Ghoul is watching the scene of the film he had an issue with, where he would take the bandito's life instead of arresting him like a morally just Sheriff would do. And now, 219(?) years later he's looking back at his old self, and his old self is speaking to his current Ghoul self: "It means he was ugly, strong, and had dignity. I'll give you two out of three on that front." Now ghoulified all he remains is ugly and strong, his self-reflection on the recent interaction with Lucy (where she's evolved a bit to the wasteland, but is still unwilling to capitulate to the depravity of it) reminding him that he too once had dignity. Once... Subtle recognition and reconciliation of that in Walton's face-acting that I've seen too many reactors not connect, or at least not vocally so.
Ghouls can be created in a few ways, genetic predisposition to mutation caused by radiation exposure (The Peabody's and heir son), forced mutation through a series of injections (Eddie Winter). And that's just what was shown in one game.

One of my favorite episodes besides the last one. Get to see what Lucy is made of in this. She survived her encounter and the tables were turned on The Ghoul being at her mercy. She could have left him to a fate worse than death, turning feral, or unlifed him but she didn't. After what she endured, especially by him, she still did the right thing. The Ghoul watching his old movie was a good thing, it made him realize how far he's fallen from being that good guy that he was. I like the Ghoul and Lucy combo, they can learn from each other. She can learn to survive the Wasteland and he can relearn humanity again. You could say Lucy is a mirror image of himself before he turned.
Agreed. Him watching himself and probably remembering what we saw from his perspective in the previous episode where he questions the writing, tied back to Lucy's attitude and response (and following the golden rule), I think it has Coop reevaluating how he deals with some folks. Of course we see later he also hasn't forgotten how people are in the wasteland either (with Erik Estrada's character).
