Do it. It's a nice place but itll get boring after a while. Went here for college then lived there for 2 years after. Decent amount of beaches but you'll have to bike or get a car most of the time. Kona side and waimea is the better part
There are some beaches but the whole of hilo bay is rocky and fenced and next to a road. Further along to the east the are some nicer beaches and even places to see sea turtles. Coconut island is fun though and there are quite a few nice outside spots to spend time.
May I ask what your major is? I am considering UHH for nursing (used to live in Pahoa and my parents still have a house there). I’m looking to connect with a 3rd or 4th year nursing student to kind of see what clinicals and all that are like, but admissions hasn’t been able to put me in touch with anyone 😔
Im a fine art major, but I'll see if there's some way to get you in touch with someone who can help you! I'll try to remember after the holiday weekend.
Not sure about the pharmacy program but it doesn't hurt to try it out! I got way more out of the experience of living in hawaii than i did from the academic program.
The ocean isnt far but the nearest ocean is the hilo bay which is gross (farm runoff, highway, no sand, fenced off). You would want to check out coconut island, carlsmith beach, and richardsons beach. Those are a lot nicer.
Little bit of scholarship, but mostly loans. Exchanging to UHH didn't cost much more than where I was going in Minnesota, but college in general has put me in a nice deep hole. I'm considering making a video addressing this, actually.
Maxine Mjoen haha I would love to see it, I was thinking about transferring next spring and I saw that living on campus is WAY expensive. Definitely relate on the loan part tho
This popped up on my feed..My son is a freshman in your dorm from Arizona. Thanks for sharing!!
That's super cool! I bet I've seen him around. Thanks for watching!
He plays on the tennis team, longish hair. His name is Maxwell.. Say hi if you see him!
I definitely will!
Thanks for sharing..! I used to live there! I think that was my dorm....hehehe..enjoy it!!
Might transfer there next spring from MN. Are there any beaches/activities by there? I’ve been to Oahu but not big island.

I’m trying to go to UH for dentistry but I’m confused on whether they have it or not
I would bet they have a list of majors somewhere on the website. If you google 'uh hilo majors' the list should come up.

Hi!
I was wondering if you knew/know anybody under the Animal Science program at UHH? and do they have any animal shelters on campus or nearby?
applying a HHU scholarship so thanks for this
random question but are u allowed to put holes in your walls? like for pins or hooks?
No, in this dorm you can't even use command hooks. Housing says the only thing that doesn't damage the paint is painter's tape.
@@Maxine_Mjoen oh wow thank you for the reply!!
Haha I used to be an RA here a few years ago. We used to just tell residents to buy some white bonding agent and just blend it in haha
@@DaniMrtini I may or may not have used some tacks and that might or might not have been my plan 😆
6:17 I miss that guy
I was so confused, like 'what guy? I didn't film any guys, especially not someone you would know' 😂
Hi! I'm a senior in California and i was wondering how the pharmacy program is in UH Hilo. I've always dreamed of staying in Hawaii
Not sure about the pharmacy program but it doesn't hurt to try it out! I got way more out of the experience of living in hawaii than i did from the academic program.
Hello, we’re you able to study at Hawaii? If so, how is the school setting, getting around to explore the outside, shopping, etc.
how far is the ocean from the University of hilo?
The ocean isnt far but the nearest ocean is the hilo bay which is gross (farm runoff, highway, no sand, fenced off). You would want to check out coconut island, carlsmith beach, and richardsons beach. Those are a lot nicer.
How do you afford everything?
Little bit of scholarship, but mostly loans. Exchanging to UHH didn't cost much more than where I was going in Minnesota, but college in general has put me in a nice deep hole. I'm considering making a video addressing this, actually.
