Omg you are like an actual life saver!!! I was trying to fill out forms for the UC schools and I was so confused on what these colleges were in UC San Diego!! Hopefully I can make it in 😖
Love 8th since the dorms are new with great views. You can also be away from all the noise if you don't want to participate. That being said...6th is awesome.
Thank you sm! UCSD is my dream school and u helped me sm so thank, BTW I have a question. I didn’t understand, do we have to do a test to get into those colleges like “marshel” or we just can try to choose it?
hiii! luckily there is no exam/test to get into a particular college. on the uc application for UCSD there is a drop down menu for the ordering you would like to have the colleges in. from there, it is luck and ur ordering that control what college you get placed in! good luck on your application! u got this!
Great video, I wanted to ask though if it would be possible to additionally rank the colleges based on housing? I heard housing is potentially a huge problem in UCSD and i feel like it could affect one's rankings subsequently.
good question! I would say that housing isn't the biggest issue at UCSD especially because you only live on campus for like 2 years (subject to change). However if you are trying to rank by housing I would put: Sixth Seventh Eighth This is in mind of location as well! If you don't care about location, then flip the ranking since its from newest to oldest then. The rest of the housing is pretty ehhh in that order doesn't matter too much just on housing alone.
i gottu! so i would say sixth, seventh, eighth (simply on dorms alone), muir/marshall (this is totally up to you- i’m a marshall student so im biased lol), warren, erc, revelle! gl on the application process- u got this!
I'm planning on majoring in bioengineering: biotech emphasis. Would you say that I should rank Marshall above Eighth and Seventh. Currently have them as such: Warren, Sixth, Muir, Eighth, Seventh, Marshall, Revelle, ERC.
Hello! I got into UCSD in Revelle and quite devastated. I’m a visual arts major and plan on switching my major from studio arts to ICAM program which I think includes some computer science or programming courses. As a visual arts student I just overall suck and hate math and science. I feel like I can endure Revelle but I don’t know first hand. What do you think I should do? Should I go to UCSD or not? I have other schools in mind and I feel like I would struggle in UCSD but I’m only considering it because I think my new major would support me in the future, I would just need to endure the hard GEDS. Thank you!
hi hi! congrats on getting into UCSD! firstly i would say watch the video i have on revelle college (i promise this is more than just a shameless plug). perhaps listening to a first hand account of a student in revelle college can change your perspective! it's hard for me to tell you how "hard" revelle courses since its all very relative but i do want to say that there is SO MUCH support at UCSD. there are plenty of free tutoring services and profs and TA are so welcoming to questions/concerns. hopefully this helps in your decision making process and lmk if you have any questions about this!
Hi! I was in Revelle for my first year! I am a theatre major and want to be a studio art minor so I totally understand the struggle. I will say if you have a lot of APs they WILL cancel out some of those GE’s, but if you were like me and didn’t take any math, foreign language, or science APs then what I would suggest next is the ICT. You can actually switch colleges after filling out the Inter-College Transfer application. I would suggest NOT switching your major if you’re really passionate about it because having that major can actually argue your case on the application! I didn’t hate Revelle, I just wouldn’t have been able to graduate on time if I stayed so I switched to Marshall! I hope this helps! As someone who spent all of Triton Days trying to figure out how to switch colleges, I know how devastating it can be, but there is hope! Good luck!!
tysm for this vid, I just had a question about the campuses. I am applying as a cs major with specialization in bioinformatics, so would warren still be a good choice? I saw one of your previous comment saying that biology at warren is not ideal, so just wanted to hear your take. thanks!
If I'm looking at going into poli-sci and actually do enjoy humanities classes, would you say Revelle or ERC would be a good place to live for comfort/location/social scene?
if you are going to be a marketing/film/arts major would you say that revelle would still be a good option? i also am planning on taking a foreign language anyway hahaha so just factoring that in
so i got into warren cus my first major of choice was aeroE.... my assigned major is urban studies & planning...... so I'm segregated from everything....
I want to major in neurobiology or alternatively cogsci with an emphasis on neuroscience as a premed, do you think marshall would be a good fit? or should i pick warren as a first pick because im in stem? thanks!
hey great question! i personally would say DONT CHOSE WARREN. Warren is really great for engineering/CS majors due to location, GEs, etc however bio-esque fields its ehhhh. I think marshall would be a great fit and I know a ton of bio/cog sci/neurobio majors in marshall! Still, I would put Sixth, Muir, Marshall as ur top choices!
i’m in cogsci and i think if you live off campus seventh is the best choice because our ges are easy and many of them overlap with major requirements, and our writing sequence is 3 classes that are contract grading (meaning if you do your work you will get an A) which allows you to enjoy the class and learn rather than stress on your writing!
Hi, im gonna be a transfer and i'm not sure what college is best for a sociology major that has a balance with school and social life, close to class and good dining halls and dorms. Please let me know whats the best ranking!
Also got in Marshall college for math cs. How would you rate the math cs major? Still debating whether I should commit to ucsd or not for this very reason. Any advice would be appreciated :)
congrats on your acceptance! Humm its pretty hard to answer this question because everyone has different experiences with the major- I personally enjoy math/cs cause it lines up with what I am interested in. I would highly recommend you take a look at the classes you will be required to take as a MathCS major and compare it to coursework for your preferred major!
I am an international student and I applied to ucsd with no actual thinking of colleges and I heavily regret it😞😞 I got into Muir which was my first option and I am an Econ major! Do you think I can change that and can you talk more abt like how the living situation actually is, I heard that freshmen have to live in residence halls can you explain what that actually is like do students live in one floor with a kitchen and a bathroom and how is the privacy! Also another question is does the prices differ a lot between colleges? Thank you so much for this insightful video I would say it’s the best video out here on TH-cam explaining the colleges!!❤❤
congrats on getting accepted to ucsd! Muir college is a wonderful college with one of the best locations, dining halls, decent ges, and more so I wouldn't be worried in the slightest about that! Unforuntately, muir is the only college that I don't have any friends in so I can't say much about the living situation there but when I lived in sixth college I got a kitchen for the floor (40 people share the kitchen). You are so right in saying that most freshmen live in res halls that don't come with a kitchen (only apartments come with a kitchen). At least in Sixth, the living situation was 10 girls with two showers and 4 sinks and the privacy was pretty wonderful since some unis have like 5 bathrooms for like 20 people. Housekeeping comes twice a week to maintain everything too! I live in Marshall now with 6 girls and 1 shower and two sinks which isn't terrible either. As for your last question about pricing- there are no price differences among the colleges! Price difference will come with the type of room you select- single, double, and triple where singles are the most expensive and triples are the least. Let me know if you have any other questions and once again congrats on your acceptance to ucsd!
humm I would say: sixth marshall muir/seventh (seventh for newer housing and don't care about location and muir if you want a better location on campus and decent housing)
Great information, thanks for covering. For computer science or applied mathematics major, warren would be the first choice I believe? How would you rank the other colleges pls
heyyyy congrats on your acceptance! pre med at UCSD is literally amazing! but no, i wouldn’t worry too much about being pre med at warren. while i do mention in the video that engineering is best for ppl at warren, warren is still wonderful for all majors. i would def check out the warren GEs and see if they overlap significantly with the classes you hope to take. in addition, i have heard good things about the warren writing sequence. so don’t worry- u got this! and congrats again!
got into Warren college as a math/econ joint major… am I cooked if my major is half stem half social science 😭? also I’ve heard that the living conditions in Warren college is the worst out of all of the colleges, is that rlly true?
heyyyy! congrats! do not worry, you are def not cooked. the ge's in warren are not terrible esp compared to the other colleges just maybe not the "best". as for the living conditions, i think warren is actually not terrible at all! like they aren't the newest or anything but my bestie lives in warren and she has been enjoying it!
Hi Shreya! Are you a math-cs major or are you double majoring in maths and cs? If you're majoring in math-cs how do you feel so far about the course? Also, what is the ratio of Math to CS in the major? Is it 50-50?
i am a math-cs major! i really enjoy how its been going so far esp cause i really do enjoy the math classes i have been taking! as for the ratio of classes, I would take a look at this website: math.ucsd.edu/students/undergraduate/ma30-math-computer-science-b-s its a list of the classes you need to take as a part of the major. you have electives that you take and depending on what you want from your major and you can chose to take more math or more cs!
so helpful!! got admitted into ucsd for sixth and I literally didn't remember what my ranking was when i applied 😭
Same!!
uc san diego is my dream school and ill be applying for fall 2025! thanks so much this is so helpful!!

heyy! cs with bioinformatics is still under the college of engineering so still pick warren as number 1!
Informative and Great Video👌
I’m applying as a psych major this fall. I’m having a hard time ranking the college 😭 what do u suggest ??
If I'm looking at going into poli-sci and actually do enjoy humanities classes, would you say Revelle or ERC would be a good place to live for comfort/location/social scene?
Humm good question! I would say ERC! I have heard of more flexibility in the GEs you have to take which is always handy compared to Revelle.
thanks for this vid it was rlly informative
Do you have any advice on transfer housing? I’m a cs transfer admit
if you are going to be a marketing/film/arts major would you say that revelle would still be a good option? i also am planning on taking a foreign language anyway hahaha so just factoring that in
i would still say no because of the difficulty of the HUM series :(
