I hiked hours into the mountains to fish these tiny mountain lakes, and to do some underwater filming! Mountain fishing is a huge passion of mine, I love the adventure, hiking and exploring! Lake number one is a really incredible place that holds some very colourful wild brown trout. I've been trout fishing here before, but not for a long time.
Lake number two on the other hand, it's not officially known if there are fish or not. I previously thought it was too small, too shallow and too high altitude... until recently. I've been hearing stories from hiking friends who have been seeing ripples in the water that look a lot like fish, so I'm going to investigate and see if the rumours are true! They could be trout, or perch, or nothing at all. Luckily I love both trout fishing and perch fishing, especially lure fishing and spinning for them.
I also tried throwing a fishing camera underwater, so stick around to the end of the video to find out what we will see! Thank you very much for watching, I really hope you enjoy this video! A friend moved to Kyle in Scotland and he is into fishing so one of the locals took him on a whole day's march across the wild country with almost no track to follow. He had stay at an old shack (bothy ) which he didn't expect.next day he caught a fish of about 3lb which was the only food he had so they cooked it before the long trek home .... the only reason the fish was so big is the remoteness most people won't go more than a few hundred yards from there cars 🤔

The fish in those mountain tarns are put there, originally anyway, by the environment agency. They act as an insurance policy against environmental disasters in the valley as well as providing sport for adventurous fisherfolk.

That's not the case mate sorry, the fish in these mountain lakes/lochs have been there for millenia. They are the remains of populations cut off when glaciers retreated. Yes, some species get there by other means, usually perch, some are remnants of lochs/lakes/tarns previously stocked by sporting estates. What you're speaking about has definitely happened with Powan. I believe they are called Vendace in England and a few populations exist primarily in the glacial waters in the lake district.
