Thought I hated the flash art style, but after watching a bit, it really grew on me
Eh the trailer made it look worse than it actually is. After playing the game itself I like it better
I love the way this game looks. I didn't even notice the tree with the power ups. I played through the whole game without noticing it. Went back and lit up the whole tree. I was collecting those fairy things throughout the game not knowing why. Will be fun to play through again with the power ups this time.
I'm glad you play these games so that I don't have to. Reminds me of watching by buddy plow through Mega Man 3 when we were kids.

Been trying to build a Ghosts 'n Goblins style level in Super Mario Maker 2 using the Master Sword power-up. Somehow succeeding in making a weird action-puzzle challenge with some nods to Zelda 2.
Amazing entry to the series. Not only fans should be delighted, but lovers of high-octane action games in general.
All Ghost's and Goblins need a physical release 😁😁😁
Hopefully they would do that eventually. Id like to see them patch arthur first though.
I feel that firing the bow while holding up on the ground is the best option for both versions of Satan. You can hit him in the face from an angle while staying out from underfoot, unlike the knife.

Yeah obviously they want you to use the bow since they give it to you from a chest right before the fight. After watching this playthrough it feels like Mike doesnt 'get' these types of games and I question if he ever really played them when he was younger tbh. Yeah its difficult but I beat it in half the time and I havent played 2d games for over a decade.

Finally got this on sale. Been playing on Legend. Just absolutely brutal. I think the art is actually great, mostly. The animation really does Arthur’s run cycle justice. I think the art unfortunately does fall apart a little in some spots but I think it’s mostly well done. I wish they’d do a full on sequel to GnG but I think the franchise is just too old now. Super was the best. Would love to try the slowdown fix mod one day.

I have this game on my TotK Switch. Along with 164 other games. And I cannot ever decide what to play. Too damn many. And yep, got a big SD in there.

I'm enjoying this game. The visuals were jarring at first but I like the hand drawn models and environments.
I was off-put by the visuals at first especially from the trailer. After playing the game itself, I like the style in certain areas. The stage around 1:25:00 for example looked great. Arthur could use some work for sure. I know he runs like that in the old games, but I mean how he looks.

I bought this game about a year ago on Steam but didn't play much until recently. It gets crazier and crazier with every playthrough. By playthrough 3 and 4 you're pretty much relying solely on post hit invincibility to get to the next "banner of rebirth" which is like a first down. LOL. Collecting those "umbral bees" is also key as it makes the game much easier. Some of those power ups are very significant. One of the top ones allows you to gain back your armor or upgrade to the gold armor. That takes a while to cast though and once you do it you can't cast another spell for awhile. This is a good one to do at the beginning of a level. This also makes bosses a lot easier as you can bombard them with a ton of hits when you have the gold armor. Another lets you cast a web to catch any "umbral bees" on screen. Lightning 3 works on bosses. There are also some power ups you can swap out to get some umbral bees back to use towards other power ups. A lot of good replayability with this game.

The art style is just like Zombotron or Fury Unleashed, both indie games on PC and I'm sure other platforms. Theres some other indies old and upcoming that have that same type of thing going on in varying degrees like Anew.

That was after only looking at the trailer. People kept asking me to play it so I decided to try it. I’m glad I did because it’s better than the trailer made it out to be. I dont love it, but its fairly decent.

I still prefer the sprite animations over the Flash art style, but I'm always keen to try a new version, so i look forward to it.

If you look closer, you will see that this game looks ALOT better than your average flash game. It even looks better than most 2D-indie games. Many cool details AND animations in both objects and backgrounds - all, while running silky smooth for 98% of the game.
This game's goofy, yet creative and detailed artstyle grows on you fast, once you have seen it in action on a big screen.

@@Chernobylkinsman Name a few, you think look better. And no pixel-games, please. To me only Cuphead looks better, yet calling Cuphead your average Indie-game seems totally far-fedged to me.
(While a bold and elaborate pixel-style can be very pleasing aesthetically, for many people it just looks "outdated". Also pixel-graphics are known for being relatively cheap to produce, which is one of the reasons you see them so often in small-scale productions.)

I really don't get the flash animation art style for all these HD remakes, remasters, redux versions. Battletoads, Streets of Rage, Guardian Heroes, etc... I prefer some solid pixel art.
Simply put... It's cheaper.
@TSnintendogamer I feel it has a cheapness to it. Look at the new TMNT game coming out. Gfx look so nice in comparison.

Was Wayforward involved in this game? Cause it has some serious Shantae Half Genie Hero vibes, the sprite style is almost identical. Either way this is a very cool game, will definitely be checking out, nice showcase Mike.
They need to do a Ghosts N' Goblins Collection. Fix the slow down in Super Ghouls N Ghosts, include the Demon's Crest games... that'd be awesome
I saw that game and it looks more difficult than the original. Mike took more than 8 hours to finish the original, i don't know about this one. Good luck Mike

@@jpwright87 played both even though the super nintendo loses that ability I still loved it because of the double jump and the level designs and the colors back in the late 90's it was the coolest shit I've ever seen lol

Mike, ever heard of a game called Captain Claw? 2D platformer for PC with a pirate cat made in 1997 by Monolith. I'm pretty sure it falls into the category of retro games. Would you be interested to try it?
The thing about this game is that you got what you payed for, end of story. The people bitching about the game being to hard or the controls are stiff, they have always been stiff. The people bitching about enemy spam, you should be constantly moving in a run n gun, even if it's slow.

Mike....those silly little daggers are no good mate....they used to be in earlier incarnations but not in this game. Quite frustrating watching you loose your armour on the first boss. What a game though eh 👍.

I just bought this game from the steam sale, and I'm embarrassed to admit that I'm struggling even on the squire difficulty. Currently stuck at the second stage boss (es): can't beat either of them.
That is because this game just does lots of things wrong. As a player I move too slow and enemies are too hectical. Faster movement/reactio time could have redeemed it to some extent. The double jump would have helped too. I just played classic Ghosts'N Goblins for comparison sake. Guess what? Resurrection now sucks legitimately even more. Even the classic arcade games had their moments to leave me devastated. But also lots of aha moments where I figured what to do and how to do it. Resurrection just moves on bombarding the player with bullshit.

Looks awesome it’s about time this game got a remaster. I grew up playing the original in the arcades. I was greatly looking forward to Battle Princess Madelyn which released a few years ago as I thought that was going to be the modern day version of ghosts n goblins but god damn just hate that game. I can’t deal with the enemy spawns or the exploration factor of leaving an area then going back and having to fight the enemies all over again. I’m all about a challenge but cheap enemy spawns are no way to make a game hard

Is the Game better than the PSP Version? This was a awesome game and the best game (with the Super Grafx Version) of the series so far.
I dig the new battletoads. Only thing I dont like is its couch coop only.
Battletoads 2020 is my least favorite Battletoads game but it's still ok at best. But yeah it needed online badly, even Streets of Rage 4 had that.

I found this game to be all about trial and error. Not as hard as past G+G games. Mike's gonna get pissed though.
Yeah because it's endless respawn. Btw I think he will be pissed at the new Battletoads. Mainly because of the tedious and probably the teen titans go types of humour especially the part where they make fun out of 90's game is best changed.

The new battletoads is really good. And the look is actually really good while you’re playing it. I haven’t heard anything about it and it has a lot of cool features to it.
I tried it out briefly. The voice acting is really annoying but you can turn it off. I dont know if im into it
