Classical guitar playing technique. Tremolo. [Dmitry Nilov]

  • I would advise to improve different types of playing tremolo, due to which you refine this technique. You can practice them in terms of playing any piece you choose. Slow tempo with articulate attack is obligatory. A metronome is a plus. You should play a piece wholly from the beginning to the end, while controlling dynamic evenness and note's value. While playing quintole tremolo (piami...), finger "i" always goes after finger "p". This disciplines right hand with no extra movements.

    Dear friends! Last September the article «Dmitry Nilov: “Academism is essential to my work”» appeared in one of the Russian well-known newspapers "Da capo al fine"("Igraem snachala" gazetaigraem.ru/a11201709 - Russian version). It considers actual questions of the classical guitar performing art that are illustrated by the example of one classical guitar played - Dmitry Nilov. I hope that points, raised in this text, are interesting to classical guitarists and all others who love this instrument.

      Creative Workshop Classics of Sound DN I kind of wish you would tell us which fingers to use I know you're trying to show us but every time you move your ring finger your pinky finger moves so I cannot tell if you are using your pinky in the demonstrations or if it is just following your other finger but not actually plucking the strings... it would be helpful if you put in writing which fingers we are supposed to use instead of just trying to show us because again your pinky moves almost every time you move your ring finger

      Длина ногтей, если смотреть со стороны ладони около 1мм. Ноготь на пальце "а" немного длиннее. Игра только ногтем, но касание подушечки струны обязательно присутствует! Касание вершинки (кончика) пальца. Не игра подушкой, а потом ногтем, а только касание! Это важно.

    Your technique is just wonderful. Can you show a closeup of your right hand fingering? Do you play a rest stroke or free stroke. It almost seems like your are playing the piano with your right hand fingers: they touch the string and a beautiful sound is generated. What is your angle of attack on the string. I am really curious to see how you produce such a beautiful tone so effortlessly.

    I have one question. I have been practising the tremolo techique for a while and i find it a bit uncomfotable for my right hand to do it the way you do it. Should play it the way i feel most comfortable or should i try to get used to your hand position. Anyways, your tremolo is on point

    • @creativeworkshopclassicsof7411
      @creativeworkshopclassicsof7411  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The point is not whether this hand's position is comfortable for you or not at the first level. There is the classical right hand position which is based on freedom of the wrist. And no other position is available with the free wrist. If you'd like to have any perspective on working with tremolo then follow my clips about the classical right hand position.

      Hello! Probably, there is a problem with accuracy and preciseness of fingers' movements. Try to play in different touches. 1 - staccato, loudly, in slow tempo, with different pairs of fingers, controlling each movement. 2 - lightly, in agile tempo, without such a thorough control, as in first example, with maximum duration of each note. To control totally your thumb, you need to place it to the necessary string in advance, on the last note of tremolo, simultaneously with the i-finger.

    Здравствуйте! Замечательный урок! Вот есть вопрос только. Как, когда играю PIMI набрать большую скорость? вот после определенного момента никак не могу быстрей ((

    • @creativeworkshopclassicsof7411
      @creativeworkshopclassicsof7411  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      И не нужно:)
      Не торопитесь со скоростью. Сначала ровно, четко и громко. Главное, чтобы атака каждого из пальцев была равноценной. Это один из вариантов исполнения не для нарабатывания беглости, а для выравнивания тремоло (приема) и нарабатывания вышеупомянутых навыков. Главное играть свободным запястьем и не тянуть все пальцы вслед на пальцем "р", когда играете бас на пятой и шестой струнах. Запястье должно быть практически неподвижным, но при этом СВОБОДНЫМ.

    i have a question regarding the flamenco (piami) tremolo : does the thumb always play apoyando?

    • @creativeworkshopclassicsof7411
      @creativeworkshopclassicsof7411  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not always. Usually I play the first note apoyando (strong beat).

    I think that two finger tremolo, such as p i m i, p m i m or p a m a is somehow not practical for songs played with conventional tremolo such as Recuerdos de la Alhambra or Una Limonas, etc. as a constant movement will create a fatigue to the finger that is used twice in a rhythm. Traditional type, p a m i, is best, in my opinion, though it takes much time to gain independence between m and a fingers.

      @creativeworkshopclassicsof7411  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You've got the idea of this clip where I show different types of tremolo to train different finger combinations to improve finally the traditional p a m i and also the flamenco one p i a m i (not always in fast tempo, by the way). But while training if you feel a fatigue in your hand - it means that smth is wrong.

    • @creativeworkshopclassicsof7411
      @creativeworkshopclassicsof7411  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This problem is common to find. Try to play staccato in slow tempo and don't hit a string. Play using only your nail, a string must be under the nail and touch a finger pulp. But don't play with a pulp. Next question concernes nails themselves - their thickness (if you glue them), shape and length...

      Creative Workshop Classics of Sound DN Thankyou for the tips! But I still don’t understand clearly what you mean by “a string must be under the nail, and touch a finger pulp”. Could you explain more?
