  • In this clip Dmiry Nilov presents one of the examples of the exercise that will improve tactile contact with the strings, strength of the right hand's fingers and evenness of arpeggio. Also here the pair of fingers "i","p" and their stretch capacity is actively used, which is a very important aspect in the classical guitar technique.

Dear friends! Last September the article «Dmitry Nilov: “Academism is essential to my work”» appeared in one of the Russian well-known newspapers "Da capo al fine"("Igraem snachala" gazetaigraem.ru/a11201709 - Russian version). It considers actual questions of the classical guitar performing art that are illustrated by the example of one classical guitar played - Dmitry Nilov. I hope that points, raised in this text, are interesting to classical guitarists and all others who love this instrument.
The English translation of this article now is available here (th-cam.com/channels/-Gvac7mdYU18XL1HACyMuw.htmldiscussion).

Your technique is just wonderful. Can you show a closeup of your right hand fingering? Do you play a rest stroke or free stroke. It almost seems like your are playing the piano with your right hand fingers: they touch the string and a beautiful sound is generated. I am really curious to see how you produce such a beautiful tone so effortlessly.

Really useful videos, thanks! Now that i hear those exercises and they sound to me quite oscure, proper of an atmosfere of a horror novel. Is there a classical piece that sounds like that? i am thinking of cohen's scherzo no. 7 from the videogame Bioshock, or Hector Villa lobos etude no.1.
