There wasn't a single flaw in that line-up. Great goalkeeper, two fantastic full-backs, massive central defence and a breathtaking midfield full of skill, power and bite. And of course, Kenny up front
I've just checked, and they finished bottom of the league with 19 points from 42 games. I saw an interview with Terry Venables (Palace manager) from a few weeks after this, when they had lost again and gone bottom. When Brian Moore asked about the "team of the 80s" claim, Venables was unhappy and said it was too soon to judge!
He was moved on for 2 reasons 1. He was a pain in the arse on the ale with souness and Terry mac but the main reason was this . 2. Paisley never forgave him for finishing Geoff mcnultys career in a Merseyside Derby the same day dixie Dean died attending the game. Though we bought lawrenson from Brighton at the same time BP was adamant the deal was separate as to prove the point Classic case of being cruel to be kind
well found Dave mate, u finding these hard to locate games after I thought 15 years ago between us we had all we were likely to ever get hold of, so keep going!
Champions 5 of the last 8 seasons and runners up the other 3 seasons, what a team.👏

Great quality Dave well done
First time ever at Anfield. The noise was incredible when LFC scored.
Wow, lucky you!
Following season the reds bounced back and won the league.
Ah yes Palace's "team of the 80s" 😂 I believe they went down that season.

@@DaveWallerLFC and Venables left for QPR not long after, Fenwick and Francis followed him.
Terry Venables said palace would be the team of the 80s.....he got it wrong ....without doubt Liverpool were the team of the 80s...
Yeah they got relegated 9 months later.!! 😅⚽
1980/81, a very good season for Aston Villa.
💎⚽️
Why did Jimmy Case leave the team despite his young age and his great performance, he was actually better than same lee

Wasnt there a retaliation for Case's tackle or was Case's tackle a retaliation?
I remember another related incident.
Case had a dodgy knee as well.
@@richardmaddog1110Classic "Case"! Good one!
Some idiot labeled Crystal Palace "the team of the 80s" 😏 They were relegated that season 😂⚽
