Really sad to hear about the death of Andy King this week. It doesn't matter what team you support, those of us of a certain age that grew up watching football in the 1970s will always remember this game, and in particular that classic goal and the 'Get of the pitch!' moment.
A true legend, R.I.P. Andy from a Leeds fan.

Andy was certainly KING that day and later in March at Anfield scored again and prevented Liverpool from stretching their lead at the top

Best video on TH-cam - I remember listening to the commentary on BBC Radio 2, aged 14 from N. Ireland. Wish I could have been there. Right up there for me with winning the trophies in the Eighties. Life never felt so good.

ANDY KING HAS DIED? I DIDN'T KNOW THAT.HE'S THE FIRST PLAYER FROM THAT TEAM I'VE KNOWN TO DIE.THAT IS SUCH A SHOCK.I LOVED THAT EVERTON TEAM.FIRST VICTORY OVER LIVERPOOL FOR SEVEN YEARS? ANDY KING,DUNCAN MCKENZIE,MICK LYONS! THAT TEAM! I'LL NEVER FORGET WALKING DOWN THE REC WITH MY LATE MOTHER AND MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS AND I THOUGHT THAT THE RADIO SAID MAN UTD 2-6 EVERTON.YEARS LATER I SAID TO A MAN UTD SUPPORTER MAN UTD 2-6 EVERTON 1978. HE SAID IT WAS EVERTON2-6 MAN UTD 1979.TURNED OUT IT WAS EVERTON2-6 MAN UTD 1977 DECEMBER ISH.ANDY KING!ANOTHER PART OF OUR CHILDHOOD ERODED.IT'S GOING TOWARDS OUR TURN SOON! HOW QUICKLY THAT IT ALL WENT EH!IT REALLY DOES FEEL LIKE ONLY YESTERDAY! JUST AS THE GREY HAIRED OLD PEOPLE TOLD US IN THE LATE SEVENTIES,WHEN GREY HAIR,OLD,DEATH ETC FELT LIKE EONS AND EONS AWAY.AT SIXTEEN,TWENTY FIVE WAS NINE YEARS AWAY! Thank you to the youtube algorithm for suggesting this video. I was in the Bullens Road stand for this game and I think my hearing has never recovered. The atmosphere that day was fantastic. Typical comments from a 'pool player though.

1976 goal disallowed for offside???? or was it handball? only the ref guessed at that decision.

So many of the greats have gone. Paisley and Fagan - utter class and gentlemen to boot. Kennedy, Hughes, Clemence and Johnson. McDermott has dementia. For my club Everton, Gordon Lee, King and Mick Lyons has Alzheimers. The commentator Motson has passed.
