Anyone ever avoided that bloater down the corridor then have a heart attack when Joel tries to open the door and all you see is the bloater steadily walk over to you in order to rip your jaw off? I have. It ain't fun
Yea well you have to kill it to get a firefly tag so alleviates that headache. That's what scares me about the hotel basement is the fact that the bloated tracks you to the door even if you initially sneak past.
Dude at that section I alerted every zombie. I just booked it to the door and when I saw the bloater run through the corridor while I was opening the door i almost broke my controller from all the spamming.
@@greedgod5827 I'm on Grounded walkthrough and there is a way to pass the hotel basement without alert the bloater, you just need to be fast, pick the key card, turn on the generator and run to the door, bloater won't be there I learned some parts are intended to be completed faster otherwise the game would give you an extra challenge; like the Metro part full of clickers, if you take too much time to get through you would have a clicker next to the stairs, and you can't use it until you kill that clicker, killing it would trigger all the clickers around and s h i t

There are a few lines of script for Joel when he gets the Bloater low on health. With Bow Headshots, it's usually the 3rd one. Since the damage profiles are different for each one, results may vary by weapon choice (as well as body vs head shot, and using other weapons). Yeah, there's quite a bit of dialogue triggered by certain actions. It fueled my obsession with playing in a way to make sure nothing was left out. Yeah, not the type of thing I would do on G Mode... But this was on Normal, and I had plenty of resources to spare. In fact, while this video's title highlights the Bloater kill, this run was intended to rack up Defensive Clicker Shivs in the stat screen. This is one of the better stages to get DCS's, as the only other stage with more clickers on the map at once is the Downtown Subway (5). But there are 3 Runners that have to be cleared (otherwise they attack while the Clickers are grabbing you), and they are spread far on that map. In addition to this, the Shiv Manuals haven't been offered until after then, and there isn't an opportunity to max out your Pill Skill for DCS's... In any case, this wasn't intended to be a prescription on how others should play... just a fun way for me to go about it. I only wish I would've been able to get one more headshot, that way I could've finished with the DCS. Oh well... Thanks for the view, and thanks for the comment!
I forgot to mention... There is a glitch regarding the DCS, where if you get surrounded by a bunch of them, you can get credit for more than one DCS on a single clicker... When you get grabbed, you'll get the prompt. Pressing Triangle will get the DCS animation going. Unfortunately, you have to stab the clicker twice in order to kill it. On the second stab, the clicker dies. But while you are in the middle of the "stabimation", the game allows another clicker to grab you. You'll still get credit for the DCS on the first clicker, but it won't die... if it grabs you again and you stab it, you will get credit for another DCS... until you can go through the full animation without getting grabbed, you'll be able to exploit this.
Imagine if you could stealth attack a bloater (with a bow) near a bunch of clickers, and when the bloater yells out in rage, all of the clickers attacked him because they thought he was an enemy.

I wonder if there is a 5th stage of zombie infection, and it is too early in the apocalypse for them to transform into that stage. We'll find out probably in the next game.
The fifth stage is when the fungus completely takes over, the host dies, and they start "blooming" and releasing spores. thats why you see large mushrooms with skeletons in them in the spore plagued areas.
Maybe there's not a fifth stage, but I'm sure Naughty Dog will add more stages of transitions between each one of the 4 current stages, to make it the most realistic possible
I don't know, bloaters can barelly move, and it.makes sense that after that there is only the "flower". But they sure could add in between known stages.
What if a 5th stage is a blister that actively is pumping out spores into the surrounding area, instead of throwing small spore sacs. It would essentially have become a walking no man's zone.
I would preffer a 3.5 really, Ellie, is immune, Spores won't make a difference in gameplay for her section (only for others). So I don't know, a 3 and half stage, who still has mobility seems more like it.
I take my time. Slow stealth kills, taking out all the clickers one by one. Then I set the bloater on fire, before taking him out with a few shotgun blasts.
DarthCipient that's exactly what I do lol except on higher difficulties where Shivs are limited instead I just use the Flamethrower or molotovs to kill them all.

Most enemies in the game cal actually be spared, like in the bookstore and in the hotel in Pittsburgh, the humans in the entire winter section not counting David, the humans during The Outside section, as well as the ones in the Capitol Building, and ALL the ones in the Firefly hospital (except for one soldier and one surgeon). These are just some of the hardest sections you can avoid off the top of my head, but there are many more. Same goes with many infected encounters
12D3 Ohh yeah yeah but I was referring to this section specifically. The reason why I don't sneak past them is because this bloater has a Firefly pendant and in order to get it you have to kill him. Obviously while I try to kill them those clickers are going to hear me so I killed them too while I'm at it but yeah I actually sneak past some sections like the subway one, the cemetery at Bills Town, etc. It's actually wise to do that in Professional and Grounded especially grounded because the ammo and resources are scarce...

For a "Kill 'Em All" Run, it's MANDATORY!!:) Xyphrum did a "Minimum Kills" Run a while back, but I don't think he documented it. @@theesickness4080 Getting pendants is optional, though. On grounded I never kill bloaters, barring the two mandatory "boss fights". To get platinum I just put the game on easy and molotov'd the place to Hell.
Nice shots - in that encounter, I get the bottle out of the machine, when the first clicker starts down the hall, stealth kill him with a shiv, then get behind the desk at the end of the hall. Throw an empty bottle where the bloater is and the clickers run to it - then throw a molotov at the bloater and it kills it and all the clickers.
to all people out there, you don't ave to do anything in this area, even on grounded- just sneak past them and then, when at the door, smash the square and you're done. no need to waste shivs or ammo #protip

Can't believe what i have just watched. Some people play in such the weirdest ways. Has to be on easy would never get that many shivs on harder, the bloater was weaker than a clicker.

I remember shooting a bloater three times in the head with a hunting rifle as Ellie and it died and I got so confused because it took me five seconds just to kill it.

Have never played on easy mode, at the moment after my grounded plus trophy. I might play on easy after, if I have to for any trophies I miss will let yourself know if it's there.
If you are playing this part and just absolutely hate clickers and want to collect all resources but don't want a big hassle, I got you. All you need is a single mollie and a lil bit of luck. Use the bottle provided and chuck it over the LEFT window, if you throw it over the right it won't get all of them. After letting a couple clickers gather over there throw the mollie and have yourself an infected bbq. The big boi will be alerted so you have to wait for bloater to go back to him normal rounds. From there you loot and sneak.
Awesome! what i personally like doing is throwing a bottle, make all the clickers go there and throw a nail bomb, bloater comes from the noise and i do this arrow glitch
Mostly from multi-hits via Shotgun and Shorty. The El Diablo and Hunting Rifle also allow for single shot multi-hits when upgraded for power and armor piercing. THUMBSUP

We(me and my siblings) got past this part by using molotovs and nail bombs(molotovs for clickers and a nailbomb for the bloater). Also for some reason, I used flamethrower on the Bloater and he/she/it did not even notice me/us(me/us because there was three of us playing and only one Joel)

i’d shoot like one clicker, shiv another, then throw a brick/bottle to alert the rest of the infected, and throw the molotov so they burst into flames, and make my way to the door. *note:* i throw the brick/bottle somewhere far from the door.
So let me get this straight... 9 pistol shots, 5 shotgun blasts, and a molotov are needed to take down bloaters for me, but you kill em in FOUR arrows??? 😂
The head of the bloater Is the area you wanna hit. I managed to kill the bloater in the P.E Gym with 1 shot with the rifle. I was really lucky cause i got his head and shoulder when he was going to grab his spore bomb. Plus arrows deal more damage when your not seen and don't get detected by enemies.
This part gave me anxiety.. I don't know how but a remember I used a bottle to Catch one of the clickers attention and they all went to check it out so I used a Molotov cocktail and ALL of them died instantly lol

Throw a nail bomb as far to the left as possible, run through the hallway towards the door, throw a smoke bomb, and open the door without killing anything
The only bloaters I kill are the one in the Highschool gym and the one in the winter section, all the others I just sneak by. Gotta save that ammo on grounded!
How did my guy kill a bloater with 4 arrows to the head- *starts to remember you can kill a bloater with a hunting rifle if you shoot it in the leg a certain amount of times* Ok now I don't even need to say anything. Bloaters weak spot is the leg with a hunting rifle and 4 arrows in the head.
Hmmmm... I wish I could help, Vinh... Sometimes you just need to spam Triangle when you see the animation begin. If you're playing Survivor or Grounded Mode, then you will not see the "Shiv" prompt, but it should work if you have a Full Shiv and at least Level 1 for Shiv Master. Hope this helps. i got thru that part without touching any of them this is a waste of supplies. if you sneak directly to the door past the bloater you just open it and the game let's you in right before the bloater gets to you.
Hiya, Kriste I!! Yeah, I took the liberty of using supplies on this run because it was on Normal mode, and I had plenty of stuff to use. After grinding away on Grounded and Survivor for so long, it's always nice to enjoy the many other aspects of this game that make it what it is. You can just sneak past all of them and not shoot anything you don’t even have to throw a bottle to distract anything you can just get to the door mash the button that comes up and your fine
How to pass it easy way: When u fall into the hole u will see a clicker there so you make noise close to it and most of bloater and clicker will come there so throw a molotov bottle to them then try killing the bloater with the flamethrower but u nned alot of fire but dont waste most of it but if u dont wanna waste it then this might work maybe throw a nail bomb to the bloater or do whatever I am saying maybe it might work

I prefer to torch the shit out of them by bombarding them with Molotovs. Then slowly walking away like a G.

I went through most section without killing anything. That's how I roll, especially in grounded, when everything is so scarce.

Can't believe what i have just watched. Some people play in such the weirdest ways. Has to be on easy would never get that many shivs on harder, the bloater was weaker than a clicker.
;) Yeah, this was definitely *NOT* Grounded!! It was on Normal Mode...
I wanted to clear the Bloater without setting off the other Clickers. I recently made a pinned comment that explains it a little better, but I wanted to go nuts with the Defensive Clicker Shivs (without the Bloater there)...

Why do your shivs have three hits before they break? Mine have always been 2 on every difficulty.
Each Shiv Manual that you find will add and extra "Tick" to the Shiv's durability. The two Shiv Manuals can be found in Bill's Town (Sammy's Bar Countertop) and Pittsburgh (Hotel Reception Desk Safe).

I love everyone with strategies here, 90% of the time i would try to just sneak through and if something heard me i would just RUN for my life hoping something wouldnt catch up.
I like how the clickers just flail their arms everywhere trying to hit someone.
Use bottle get them together, molotov and flamethrower😎
I had no clue you could kill them in 4 headshots with just arrows. I damn near wasted my whole entire arsenal with just the one in the gymnasium
That must be on easy, no way you can kill a bloater that way on grounded!

I remember shooting a bloater three times in the head with a hunting rifle as Ellie and it died and I got so confused because it took me five seconds just to kill it.

Have never played on easy mode, at the moment after my grounded plus trophy. I might play on easy after, if I have to for any trophies I miss will let yourself know if it's there.
In grounded mode that's unthinkable we can barely find 15 arrows in the whole game trajectory.
If you are playing this part and just absolutely hate clickers and want to collect all resources but don't want a big hassle, I got you. All you need is a single mollie and a lil bit of luck. Use the bottle provided and chuck it over the LEFT window, if you throw it over the right it won't get all of them. After letting a couple clickers gather over there throw the mollie and have yourself an infected bbq. The big boi will be alerted so you have to wait for bloater to go back to him normal rounds. From there you loot and sneak.

Awesome! what i personally like doing is throwing a bottle, make all the clickers go there and throw a nail bomb, bloater comes from the noise and i do this arrow glitch

Mostly from multi-hits via Shotgun and Shorty. The El Diablo and Hunting Rifle also allow for single shot multi-hits when upgraded for power and armor piercing. THUMBSUP
wtf. I was thinking about getting that perk that can save u from clickers but i was like..."nah" and now that i see its power, u can abuse the shit out of it.
Yeah! It's a good one, but for Survivor and Grounded Mode, it makes it a very expensive method!
Whenever I play on the "non-restrictive" difficulty levels, I **LOVE** using the Bladed Weapons!

That bloater was so confused ha ha I usually just kill all the clickers and then set him on fire with the flame thrower on that part
Is it me or are the Bloaters in part 2 capable of taking way more damage
We(me and my siblings) got past this part by using molotovs and nail bombs(molotovs for clickers and a nailbomb for the bloater). Also for some reason, I used flamethrower on the Bloater and he/she/it did not even notice me/us(me/us because there was three of us playing and only one Joel)

We change turns every time we die. We actually finished the game already just yesterday and we're playing the whoolllleeee game again. I can't believe how much of noobs we were when we first played the game🤣. We only get to play 2 hours everyday so we just got to the mall part where we just got Ellie. i’d shoot like one clicker, shiv another, then throw a brick/bottle to alert the rest of the infected, and throw the molotov so they burst into flames, and make my way to the door.
*note:* i throw the brick/bottle somewhere far from the door.
Clickers sound like they are burping with sore throat.

So let me get this straight... 9 pistol shots, 5 shotgun blasts, and a molotov are needed to take down bloaters for me, but you kill em in FOUR arrows??? 😂
The head of the bloater Is the area you wanna hit. I managed to kill the bloater in the P.E Gym with 1 shot with the rifle. I was really lucky cause i got his head and shoulder when he was going to grab his spore bomb. Plus arrows deal more damage when your not seen and don't get detected by enemies.

This part gave me anxiety.. I don't know how but a remember I used a bottle to Catch one of the clickers attention and they all went to check it out so I used a Molotov cocktail and ALL of them died instantly lol
I usually throw a bottle then use a Molotov on the infected, then craft more or use the shotgun on the bloater.
As a grounded player I can’t appreciate the waste of shives I just witnessed

I hop in part 2 we can perform melee attacks on bloaters but only with an upgraded melee weapon
I have tried, and failed... many times... :/ :D *shrug*
Vorlonator/Vyolated Gaming is the only person I know who has "officially" killed a Bloater via melee...

Throw a nail bomb as far to the left as possible, run through the hallway towards the door, throw a smoke bomb, and open the door without killing anything
I know they're not real and that it's childish but...Clickers are part of the reason why I'm scared of the dark
Here's my way of killing mushroom heads: spam flamethrower, it's super effective
The only bloaters I kill are the one in the Highschool gym and the one in the winter section, all the others I just sneak by. Gotta save that ammo on grounded!
How did my guy kill a bloater with 4 arrows to the head- *starts to remember you can kill a bloater with a hunting rifle if you shoot it in the leg a certain amount of times* Ok now I don't even need to say anything. Bloaters weak spot is the leg with a hunting rifle and 4 arrows in the head.

Hmmmm... I wish I could help, Vinh... Sometimes you just need to spam Triangle when you see the animation begin. If you're playing Survivor or Grounded Mode, then you will not see the "Shiv" prompt, but it should work if you have a Full Shiv and at least Level 1 for Shiv Master.

They need to grab you from the front, if they grab your back they can't be countered
i just killed all the clickers with arrows and then used molotov’s to kill the bloater
i got thru that part without touching any of them this is a waste of supplies. if you sneak directly to the door past the bloater you just open it and the game let's you in right before the bloater gets to you.
Hiya, Kriste I!! Yeah, I took the liberty of using supplies on this run because it was on Normal mode, and I had plenty of stuff to use. After grinding away on Grounded and Survivor for so long, it's always nice to enjoy the many other aspects of this game that make it what it is.
Sometimes, we just gotta "let one fly", and stuff like this makes the grind easier to endure.

You can just sneak past all of them and not shoot anything you don’t even have to throw a bottle to distract anything you can just get to the door mash the button that comes up and your fine

Guys you wanna know why clicker don't move while bow shoot the bloadter it is because bow is a silence weapon and good for hunting
All I did was pick up a bottle, threw it in the opposite direction and made the bloater go for it and it bought me more time to open the door😂

How to pass it easy way:
When u fall into the hole u will see a clicker there so you make noise close to it and most of bloater and clicker will come there so throw a molotov bottle to them then try killing the bloater with the flamethrower but u nned alot of fire but dont waste most of it but if u dont wanna waste it then this might work maybe throw a nail bomb to the bloater or do whatever

This and the level where you have to turn on the generator in the hotel I think made me scared to play lol.
