    Welcome back to the show! Today James from Renick Performance was kind enough to bring out one of their 600HP Cadillac ATS-Vs for us to go for a cruise in, down the beautiful California coastline. With a twin turbo V6 under the hood and a bunch of RP parts hooked up and tuned, this luxury-sports coupe once again proves that GM is slaying their game and taking aim at the biggest in the segment. Enjoy! - Marcus

      Cadillac and Corvette going their own way. Should be fun. I'll always take a Porsche over anything else. But, I'd take this ATS-V over any other brand. Cadillac have finally caught and surpassed the German's at their own game. Now Cadillac just has to work on that interior. :>)

    Great video! Thank you for mentioning all of the benefits with purchasing an ATS-V. I did not even know this came as a twin turbo until I started researching. I knew a bit about the CTS-V, though never thought one was in my price-range (as used) or would come with somewhat low mileage. Every CTS-V is have seen is very high and has been driven/loved a lot. Wish there were more videos about the ATS-V and their capabilities. Thanks again!

    ATS-V coupes look so nasty. I really don't understand why more people aren't getting them and aftermarket companies producing parts for them. I get the supply and demand side of it. Like the tuner said. Simple mods and you are over 600hp. Hennessy performance took a while but with a cold air intake, down pipes and a tune. He made over 600hp and called it his GTR destroyer. There's obviously more hidden potential in that V6. Could you imagine what cams and other modifications could do. Just like AMS made the GTR's what they are today. Another performance shop should take up the same mantel with the ATS-V. Awesome video.

      absolutely that bad. He has a long history of being shady gong back to the early to mid 2000s where he screwed over a bunch of Viper owners, basically stripping their cars and then declaring his own business bankrupt. Since then he's found another way to hose people with his "tuner school" and so on, even fleecing people of their GI bill. Just do a quick google search on that, or you can also google "hennescrewed" and pull up things like his troll posts on C300 forums, etc. Yeah I wouldn't trust him for a minute, particularly when you have some seriously solid guys working on the ATS-V platform.

    Awesome build! ATS-Vs are very underrated.
    However I have to call you out on the weight claims... there's a bigger delta between the ATS-V and a Carrera 4 than between the V and a GT-R! The V is 200lbs lighter than a GT-R but it's 300lbs heavier than a Carrera 4. A lot of that weight comes from all the cooling the ATS-V has over the M3/4 (which are 100lbs lighter than the V), that's why it can actually lap all day without overheating. On a side note; the 911 Turbo (which actually has all the cooling and interior luxury bits the ATS-V does) is just 100lbs lighter than the V. When you make these claims you have to know people won't be logical about it, they'll look up numbers for the most stripped out model without a stereo and get frothy-mouthed in the comments lol

      "Also, you can buy clean, low mileage, used GTR’s for $50k these days."

    Personally I wouldn’t care, in my opinion that is such a dumb perspective to have. “I have a modified car and beat a stock car”. The single clutch transmission is awful in the Aventador for daily driving but I would much rather have an Aventador all day long than an ATS-V.

    • @vernonprice5986
      @vernonprice5986 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You could also argue that most people would rather have the $340,000 in their pocket that they saved by buying an ATS-V instead of an Aventador. I'd rather have the Aventador too, but comparing them directly to each other is false equivalency. The fact is that the ATS-V handles REALLY well - it's probably the best 4 door chassis on the planet (yes I know the one in this video is a coupe, same platform) and with 600 HP it really is not giving up very much to an aventador in terms of outright performance.
      Is it an Aventador? Obviously not. But is it ~5x cheaper than an Aventador? Sure is.

    • @KeenanStyles
      @KeenanStyles 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Vernon Price the same concept applies for every single car on the planet. For example a 2000GT from a performance aspect is not worth the equivalent of 1 million USD however their are people willing to spend the money to own one. An ATS-V another example you could buy an older CT-V and modify it to completely out perform this ATS-V for the price tested on this one. It is a completely ignorant concept that people push into the faces of those who can actually afford these higher end cars. Most people who own higher end exotics couldn’t care less about a cheaper car being modified that can go toe to toe with their current car. An R35 GTR owner isn’t going to care that someone out there has a 800whp 2JZGTE swapped IS300 or S-chassis that can destroy their car and the whole package being a lot cheaper than what they spent. I own a R34 GT-R and a A80 Supra RZ there are plenty of cheaper cars out there that are faster however that means zero to me.

    • @vernonprice5986
      @vernonprice5986 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +STF JZA80 - "you could buy an older CT-V and modify it to completely out perform this ATS-V for the price tested on this one. "
      But your argument was an Aventador, which costs $400,000. That is not AT ALL the same thing as comparing an ATS-V to a CTS-V.
      You said you would rather have an Aventador than an ATS-V. That is a false equivalency argument, mostly because of the $340,000 price difference.
      "Most people who own higher end exotics couldn’t care less about a cheaper car being modified"
      That is a straw man argument, because you don't speak for every person on the planet that owns an exotic.
      "An R35 GTR owner isn’t going to care that someone out there has"
      Blah blah more straw man arguments, but the thing is GT-R owners really, REALLY care when they get beaten by something like an ATS-V or any car that is considered "inferior". GT-R fanboys are known far and wide for generally being idiots and buying into the whole "godzilla" bullshit. Maybe YOU don't care, but then you would be the exception and not the rule.
      That's not even the point though, the FACT is that a 600 HP ATS-V is going to trash a GT-R. That's just a fact. No arguments. It's not a brag, it's a simple fact. And it seems like GT-R fanboys are the ones getting their panties wadded up about it.

      +justin jia - "best 4 door chassis on the planet? really? with cars like the Giulia and the F90 M5 around, really? how do you back up those claims?"
      Have you not been paying attention to any review of the ATS-V? No, of course you haven't, and that's why you're confused. You might want to start doing some research on that.
      "Most impressive, however, is the ATS-V’s chassis. “Outstanding world-class chassis,” Lieberman notes. “It might be one of the best handling sedans in the world.”
      www.motortrend.com/news/2016-mercedes-amg-c63-s-and-cadillac-ats-v-go-head-2-head/

    Also the ATS-V weighs roughly the same as a GTR, and both are much heavier than any 911. I reaaally doubt you can run that overweight Civic all day in the desert without experiencing ANY brake fade or heating issues.

      I feel like the Caddy guy is making stuff up at various points in the video. The ATS-V is just over 3700 pounds stock. A loaded 991 Turbo S is just over 3500 with no carbon. A std 991 C2 is just over 3250. The Carrera T is closer to 3100. My '99 996 convertible 6-speed is 3041 with 1/4 tank of gas. Be real bro. Caddy has been great about shaving weight, but be real.

      It weighs a couple hundred lbs less than a GT-R, at minimum.
      "I reaaally doubt you can run that overweight Civic all day in the desert without experiencing ANY brake fade or heating issues."
      And you say that because you've tried it? Or are you just making up bullshit because your feelings are hurt?
      Also,you forgot to mention cost, genius. A GT-R costs $110k, an ATS-V is $60k. Not sure why you're trying to make an equivalency argument that doesn't take the $50k price difference into account but it sure doesn't make you look any smarter.
