A Pokemon Y Hardcore Nuzlocke Monotype Challenge with ONLY DARK TYPE POKEMON - Can it be done? (No items, No overleveling)
Make sure to let me know what hardcore nuzlocke challenge you want to see in the comments!
RULES:
1) If a Pokemon faints, it's considered dead and can no longer be used.
2) Only the first encounter can be caught on each route.
3) Species Clause; I can reroll an encounter if the first encounter is something already caught.
4) No items in battle (held items are fine).
5) No overleveling the next gym leader's highest Pokemon (leveling up during the fight is allowed).
6) Battle style must always be on 'Set'.

Malamar. Inkay is a cute little pre-evo and Malamar is a nice step up in terms of cool. I also really like the method for it's evolution and as terrible as Dark/Psychic is, I still think it's a pretty cool pairing.

Hydreigon and tyranitar
X and Y are great games for mono type runs since they have the biggest regional dex of any games at a combined total of 457 (apart from Sword and Shield that is, they have 664)
So much variety and value in every corner of that region. Only wish it were slightly harder and those two games would be perfect.
I love the Kalos games, so so much. I know it hasn’t been too long but I can’t wait until these games inevitably get a reboot. I’m standing right behind them! ^w^
And its also the biggest region in pokemon
@@kitkett_ which I see as a negative tbh, there are some awesome routes and cities, but several of them were pretty bland and forgettable imo
When they strike a balance with their newer generations in upcoming years >>> I think having too much pokemon ends up hurting them but also making it so that you can *only* use pokemon that are apart of the new gen isn’t as fun as having extra variety. Though preferably more pokemon that generally aren’t found as often in other gens brought to the new games would be good too since the regular zubat cave encounter gets stale quick

Fun fact: you can catch a wild hydreigon at victory road, except it’s a sky encounter and is like a 5% of finding it lol

originally in the japanese versions of pokemon was referred to as the Evil type so i feel Dark types are embodiments or evil/mischievousness
I've always heard yveltal pronounced as E-vil-tall because dark=evil. Also the ultimate weapon firing on itself is because lysandre is mad you beat him and wants to kill you with it
I always pronounced it E-vel-tal. Cause that just made sense to my brain. Yveltal just sounds like that to me.

For those who don't know, dark type was created in gen II because in red, blue, amd yellow, nothing was super effective against psychic, but bug, and ghost which I believe was bugged anyway. Thats why the gen II Eeveelutions are dark and psychic
Yeah psychic used to be so OP
Psychic had no weakness in gen 1. The only ghost types from gen 1 were also poison and would get shredded before they moved, and there was only 2 bug attacking moves with were abysmal even with the crap defense of most psychic types, not to mention half the bugs were poison, so they too got shredded

dark type has some of the coolest pokemon. except maybe the alolan meowth line or raticate. i dont like alolas dark type variants. but most dark types are really cool
you should do steel type in hgss next
at least alolan raticate is cooler than regular raticate

I think Dark in Pokemon is more evil since in Japanese its referred to as "Aku type" since Aku = Evil (I'm some sense)
That makes sense since alot of dark types are pranksters
I just realized that storm throw is an amazing move for searching for skorupi with battle armor. Slay the horde members until one doesnt get crit
in the pokemon anime (sub) darp type is actually translated to evil type so i think its safe to say they mean evil when they say dark instead of literal darkness

Other way around, its evil type translated to dark type, the original language is Japanese so that's the correct term

Dark types have a mix of good and bad Pokémon
In reality I don't think any pokemon is born bad. The things they experience make them bad. I just think dark types are just more easily influenced into being bad because they are natural born pranksters
Then there is Pangoro, who is literally the trope of bad friends making you a bad person as a Pokémon.
It’s good to know that my two favorite types, bug and poison, are in the bottom 5 of popularity lol oh well 🤷🏼♂️

It's Ya val tal using a sort of batman voice. IT ONLY WORKS IF U USE THE BATMAN VOICE!!!
Also why did u have flamethrower on a tyranitar? Literally any physical rock move that was at least 40 base power would have been better.
If u need calcs, u get 2x from stab
Not to mention that tyranitar's physical attack stat is almost twice the much as the special attack stat.
Not quite, Stab is a multiplier of 1.5x and the SpAtt stat of Tyranitar is roughly 75% of the Attack Stat, Taking into account Super Effective on Flamethrower with the stat difference that then means it reaches a Power of 135 on particularly Grass and Steel Types which usually resist Rock Type Moves where as Crunch with Stab has a Power of 120, Mixed Sets also allows you to take on Pokémon with say a naturarly high regular Defense Stat... The nature of Tyranitar in this run might also play a role in the decision
