Frankly, the only thing I really wish the 012 had is the applied date window. I don't think the hi-beat is a worthwhile extra for more than double the price. I also resent the exclusion of a bracelet on the hi-beat and think the thickness is accentuated by the case profiles. The 012 really sinks into the wrist better and "wears" (and looks) a good bit thinner. No question in my mind...the 012 is "better" in most every way perhaps especially taking into account the price difference, but even if the prices were the same there are good reasons to choose the mm300.
J S I agree. The mm 300 with an applied date window logo (and Seiko logo) would be great! Lack of strap options for the Hi-beat is a negative, but I don’t think it’s that much overpriced. It’s actually one of the most beautiful divers Seiko have ever released.
I agree that it's great, but at about twice the price of a MM300 on release? I don't think the Hi-beat and applied logos makes up for the lack of a bracelet AND can logically add $2500 more than for the MM. Yes, I know that the 6159 didn't come with a bracelet either but for what they are charging, the bracelet should be there. Granted, they sold them all so clearly enough people thought the value was there. I don't happen to be one of them in this case or with the recent 6105 tribute.
J S yes for the price I would appreciate a steel bracelet option. They did it for the 62mas reissue which was quite a bit cheaper. Steel bracelet on this would likely weigh very heavily so that’s perhaps Seiko’s excuse for not including one.
I think when it cost 3k$ more for any watch than another watch that looks perfectly similar you may as well save your money and get something under 2k from a small manufacturer using an ETA movement. That way it looks right, works great and saves you more money. Seiko's business model is clearly to push people into a higher tier for the right look ala famous Swiss brands. It begins with flashy tacky pieces goes to something reasonable for under 1k then jumps to 5k and then 10-12k on top. Personally I feel this is a trap for the customer and middle class people are better off financially supporting the boutique market, no matter how much I want to sla025.
To be frank, they probably underpriced the SBDX012 when it was released. I think MSRP was around $2300 or so. I know NIB models within a couple of years broke the $5k mark. They could have sold all of them on release for $3500 most likely. JMHO.
This is fantastic video demo.
Nice comparison !

Do you think that it is possible to put the braclets of the sla025 on the marinemaster
@@123meteyuecel SLA025 waffle strap is 19mm and the MM is 20mm so it won't be a great fit.

Agreed!
$4k difference??? Not really but the reissue is stunningly beautiful.
Maybe for thousand differences?
