I have so many bags its crazy. I inherited all my family's sleeping bags from the 60's down eddie bauer expedition bags to heavy flannel (warm) bags from when were stationed in Alaska. I'm such a wimp though I only camp when the weather is lovely now and just use my Pink Panther bag from '77. lol TBH I've always wanted a newer US Military Sleeping System, but can't justify buying ANOTHER bag. lol
‘FECSA’ Wooley. A Spanish company. I can get brand new medium bags for £50.00, over here. Still in the factory wrapper. And so can you, from Strikeforce UK. All the best.👍🏾🇬🇧
My first was a long time ago, before any of the bags here were even invented! But what got me back into bushcamping was a gift of a complete (minus the outer bag) Canadian Army sleep system with the bivy. I still have that system (now complete) but don't usually use it as it is just too warm! On the other hand I will pack 10lbs of wool into the woods any day of the week even though I own the complete British and USGI systems as well as a lot of other good sleeping bags. I even have two of the German Army tank crew bags, both sizes to be exact! Yup, I am a gear addict.
@@RedBranchBushcraft I just put the czech bag inside the defence 4. I also sometimes use a swedish army summer sleeping bag that actually is a Carinthia. But I like the czech better. I used it in very cold weather here in Sweden and it works great.
@@je710817 Well, I was lucky to get a brand new czech sleepingbag from Varusteleka and I like it alot. You cant go wrong with Carinthia. I think the swedish army is the tropen. Both works but the defence 4 och czech work great for me.
I still only use my US modular sleep system bags for everything, although I need to get some good down quilts for hammock camping. Good to see Bruno still hasn't lost his singular focus. Have a good week!
I have the US military sleep system , the problem is in winter as i sleep within a canvas swag, the heavy canvas compresses the sleeping bags > losing warmth ! Now winter is aprouching here i think i will get the old 1950s made Singer out and put in some sides ? ... and that heavy canvas has to go i'll put a light weight canvas for over the top !
Got two of the British army medium bags last year, use one as a quilt for in the hammock, slept down to minus temps like that with a good under quilt🤙🤙🤙
I sleep warm and use a bivvy bag so I use the OEX 900 down sleeping bag which is very light. In the Winter I sleep in my Carinthia MIG 2.0 if I need extra warmth but I'm usually fine. Great video again Woolly.
@@RedBranchBushcraft I got shot down in flames when I said it on a video. 😂They are just too old now and people don't understand that the insulation breaks down over time, especially if its been washed a lot.
I use a size large 1988 British army sleeping bag I got of my brother in 1989 when he got it new. Because zip went in my older bag from 1983 which my brother took in and exchanged for me.Then he took his old sleeping bag in a few days later and got himself a new one as he seen how much bigger than his other one was. And no one said anything about it.
But when doing the Viking stuff I cheat I put furs on the ground and then hide the sleeping bag in wool blankets. And if anyone tells you that a few wool blankets are good. All year year round Tell them they nut's lol. And go back to your nice warm sleeping bag. Covered in wool blankets
The Carinthia D4 is a great bag that comes in at about €235 in real money but you need to factor in a decent bivy bag. That's a large chunk of change if you've only just bought your first MORA® and a tarp.
Before someone buys a sleeping bag, they should know a few things, first their climate! Being that the temperature varies from season to season, temperature should line up with in 10-15 degrees of your area and time of year! Then other features such as weather proofing, flame retardant and so forth! Cost should be reasonable, but the last consideration on the list!

I use the Carinthia defence 4 and the czech military summer bag. A very good combination.
Do you tie them together?

Carinthia Defense 4 and Carinthia Grizzly Sleeping Bag Liner are a great combination.
I have the grizzly, was unsure if the it was defense 4 or 1 to go with it
@@backpackingireland8624 I use a liner with all bags as its better to wash a liner rather than the sleeping bag.
Yes, saves the bag
