Another fantastic piece of aviation content! Haven't flown LH short-haul yet because they are always 3 times more expensive than the budget airlines - and as this review shows, there is no justification for that.
Note that both on the CRJ and A320 he was able to put about 2 handwidths between his legs and the front seat. That's about 3 handwidths more than you get on Easyjet and Ryanair :D So yes, the service isnt really high-frill but due to the seat space they can only fill the plane with what - - 30 pax less than RYR/EZY? And that difference in load is reflected in the price. It's really as simple as that.
Great review! I have flown LH a few times from London to Munich and Frankfurt, and I 100% agree, you're better off just going for Ryanair or Easyjet, unfortunately they don't fly to MUC and FRA
Hello James, just to say that EZY flies LGW-MUC. Also FR did for a while operate from London to FRA. With FR much depends whether or not it can negotiate a good deal with airport management.
Hey Jack, great video as per usual. Do you plan to visit Japan anytime soon? I visited recently as the yen is so weak right now. I’d love to see your take on Japanese airports and the service over there more generally. You always keep your thoughts genuine. 🙂
Thanks for the TH-cam, Jack. Point is that Lufthansa primarily operates short flights within Europe to feed its FRA and MUC hubs. Other routes are flown by Eurowings. It's the same with other major carriers. Almost all airlines within Europe (TK excepted) provide little or no catering in Y nowadays. In fact one can be lucky to be able to take a flight if you look at LX and OS which have even axed flights on some sectors in favour of rail.
@@DanDan-pk6tx I understand. Thanks for reply. In general there are few airlines in Europe who now serve free Y class catering short-haul. AF/KL are exceptions but *almost* all the others have BoB (buy on board) catering. To be honest I believe AF/KL will eventually follow such is the pressure on airlines to reduce costs and to eliminate food wastage .
Interesting and Informative review as always! I have never actually flown lufthansa before, but will be doing so in December. As there are no direct flights to Dubrovnik from the UK in winter, I am flying LH to Frankfurt, and then I believe Croatian Airlines to Dubrovnik. I just hope my flight out of LHR leaves on time so I can get my connection. 🤞🤞
6:06, It's similar to Swiss, Airbus A321 that I flew almost 3 weeks ago from Warsaw to Zurich for the 1st time, water and the highlight, Swiss chocolate is provided and that's it.
Fantastic analysis! Lufthansa is not was it used to be. The short „hoppers“ to their hubs are good, but the cabins are old and it is not not very special. The uncomfortable seats always remember me of the easyjet seats which are near,y the same. But in pricing Lufthansa is very expensive nowadays
Very good review. I decided to book Lufthansa as a budget alternative, as they include carry-on luggage, unlike the budget airlines, so worked out the same. I will let everyone know what my experience is; but considering it cost me the same as would Ryanair, I am setting my bar lower
I remember that 30 years ago flying with Lufthansa was considered a bit of a privilege in our family, instead of flying with some random turkish airliner. When you flew with Lufthansa you had professional staff and you knew the plane would most likely be on time. It was also the airline where pilots would let you into the cockpit and answer your questions. One time the captain made room for me to lean over and hold the yoke, as he disenganged the AP. He then let me turn on the AP and change the heading, it was crazy to experience this. Thats why i have a strong positive association with LH. Btw i really enjoy your calm and objective commentary on your flights. What i cannot stand is flashy annyoing people, primadonnas that think the all airlines should treat them like royalty
Thanks, interesting story! Yeah, the cabin crew is usually great on LH. The main problem is the never-ending cost-cutting which makes them more and more Ryanairesque in my opion. Funny that you mentioned "random turkish airliner," since right now, Turkish is so far ahead of Lufthansa.
@@JackRoaming yes i found out about that a couple of years ago. I can assure you that back than absolutely nobody would have believed that a turkish airline would ever outclass an airliner like lufthansa.Very unexpected for me
@Berk-lf6ge Unexpected maybe but not really surprising since Turkish competes with the likes of Etihad, Emirates, and Qatar, while Lufthansa mostly has to worry about low-cost competition on their European routes. So Turkish simply cannot reduce the quality and service too much while LH is part of the race to the bottom that is European aviation.
@@JackRoaming sounds strange because checked it with the app DB Navigator from Deutsche Bahn and the price is always the same in the app no matter what direction.
I love your videos . Simple honest and short . Lovely . Keep up the good work !!
Thanks a lot!

@alexmcwhirter6611 yeah, I meant LHR since it's my homebase

Thanks! I've been to Japan and loved it. Unfortunately, that was before I made videos. Definitely gonna return at some point, but not sure when yet.

Good points.
Air France gives a snack/ sandwich and soft drinks in economy in Europe.
@@DanDan-pk6tx Yes KL provides minimal food like AF. Really depends on the route. What does AF offer on LHR-CDG flight ?
@@alexmcwhirter6611 Never flew that route with AF. I flew CDG-BCN and they gave us a sandwich and a soft drink of your choice

Aviation was different 30 years ago. Airlines could afford to provide better service and onboard catering because the fares were much higher.
@@JamesKeller1993 thanks for the insight. I never really thought about the reasons behind this evolution
What, you have to pay to check in your luggage, even though it's a very small carry on luggage on a full service airline and even seat selection?
Is that your 1st time that you flew a CRJ900, if so, how is it and how many times you flew a CRJ?
I had flown CRJs before.
I see.

In the way back to the MUC airport you got the wrong ticket. Sounds like a children day ticket.
I was thinking the same but it didn't mention that anywhere. It was the only "Flughafen" ticket that you could buy from the machine.
