@@keithhardy8513 doesn't change anything if the amount is paid in cash. They could write a receipt and still pocket it since the transfer is not in the system. Happened to me once.
Thanks for your video. Well that's the thing about low cost airlines. They seem cheap at the first look but the devil is in the details as you see. Once a low coast carrier in Europe asked me about a Visa , which was weird since a had European Passport . Maybe it was because of my look I don't know . I mean that's how low they can go . And I honestly have come to the conclusion that in most occasions their not a big difference today between low cost an a full carrier , not in Europe . It is maybe 10 o 20 euros more expensive some times.. My love your Fan Mussa
Thanks a lot! Yes, the difference often isn't that much. In Europe, most "full-service" airlines have exactly the same baggage policies as their low-cost competition now anyways.
Cebu Pacific is also worst becuase of super strict with luggage and yeah that's not good. Yeah I would not fly Vietjet because of super strict luggage, worse than Cebu Pacific.
VietJet Baggage rules are made clear on their web-site. Sorry, but why did you not ensure that your hand carry was UNDER the permitted weight ? People like to think that they are entitled to EXCEED published baggage rules. Low Cost Airlines (like VietJet) are well known for strictly enforcing their baggage rules ! Asking you to purchase a suitcase at the airport was not unreasonable under the circumstances.
He criticized the attitude, not the fact that he had to pay. Also as he mentioned, the vast majority of airlines would let 1.7 kg fly. It's not like he turned up with double the allowance.
@@markgellert1 Fair enough, but check in staff can often be quite surly and are not always bright and cheerful. Not professional, of course, and I am not condoning such an attitude. The member of staff could / should have explained the need to pay for excess baggage in a more professional manner rather than allegedly saying "You Pay."
@@keithhardy8513 It's actually pretty easy to get away with too much weight on Ryanair (Easyjet aswell) because you walk straight to the gate with a digital boarding pass. Most smaller low-cost airports like Luton don't have scales at the gate. So, they can check the dimensions of your bag but not the weight. Also, everywhere in Europe you get 15 kg now so the weight isn't really an issue.
Honest, balanced, and authentic review, well done! Since they asked you for cash, they might just have pocketed those $25...
Thanks! Yes, that is a possibility.
I would have insisted on a receipt !

Excellent review! If an airline charged me for 1.7 kg, I wouldn't fly them again out of protest.
Thanks!
Thank you for the balanced review Jack. You share a helpful point about the VJ cost compared with VN on the same route.
Thanks!
Sounds like working at the Vietjet gate guarantees tips.
Haha good point.
Warn Mrs. H, Jack will be back!
Wow for $5.00 more you coulda skip this rude airline.
Yes. Those $5 would have been well-spent.
10:15, Do they accept US dollars on the plane if you don't have Vietnamese Dong?
Yes.
Nice, so they accept both, Vietnamese Dong and US dollars. Thanks.

As I mentioned in the video, I took the same bag with the same contents onto Cebu Pacific, and they didn't have any problems with it.
I know, I see.

And he still gave them a 6/10 so it's not like he dramatized the baggage penalty. I think his review was fair. He simply explained what happened.

Theyre just enforcing their rules. Baggage is 7kg. Not 8kg.
