The March version doesn't have P25 decoding, so it's useless for me. I'm interested specifically in D-Star (iCom ham radio digital voice mode) and P25 (digital voice mode used by emergency responders such as fire and police).

Must try this, yes this software has a lot of potential ! Btw I am surprised to see a 2m repeater on 146 MHz ? Or is the frequency wrong ?
Their is nothing wrong in having a Rpt within in 146 MHz + or - , as there are many allocated frqs set by the respective governing communication laws within each country.
including, slight differences of the bands may start and finish.
The 2m band is not just for FM , even though their are many who do.... it also includes SBB CW etc, just to name a few within the 2m communication spectrum.

Nice, this is cool. Slightly tangential, I've watched a ton of your videos and they're all great. For some reason, though, the audio on this particular video seems different. It sounds like there's a little bit of low-end clipping and/or over-compression distortion happening on your voice. Hard to describe! Good video overall though, as usual!
Hey Robert, thanks for letting me know. Sometimes I record the audio in the early hours and so I’m talking a little quieter, which can sometimes lead me to adjust the compression. Maybe this time I went overboard, I’ll fix for the next one :) thanks for watching 🙏

Thanks for the video, but I personally would like to get decoders as a plugin to SDR#. All in place, no separate software to be installed.

@@JELmusic I think the point here is that eventually, when this goes OS you will be able to add all of the functionality you want to this project without being bound to SDR#
@@mikea683 It may become a great software as it matures, but as an SDR# user plugins for that platform are obviously of more interest to me personally.
Tetra Truck Tracker integrates well with SDR#.
Hi Matthew, long ago you streamed this openear video. The download in gitup is obviously stopped because of licence problems with TETRA. I'm trying to decode pocsag transmissions in 140-150mhz. I can hear and see the transmissions in the waterfall, some of them seemingly very strong but I can't get any to decode. What am I doing wrong?
I welcome the day when we can decrypt communications on those 40 bit encryption systems.

Indeed espcially with the soon possibility to virtually rent virtual quantoum proccesors. Also hopefully someone will figure out the TEA encryption algorithm.

Unfortunately, it does not work with Airspy yet. Hopefully it might one day. (Digs around for RTL USB at the bottom of the drawer).

Hello. In quite new to radios and im still learning. Is there any difference in me getting an expensive uniden scanner or an ftl sdr. Would i be able to listen to any frequencies digital and analogue that with an ftl sdr that a uniden scanner can listen to?

Hi, Your video is very helpful. When i try to listen to DMR most of the signal says Sync, and when i get the V Traffic the audio is inaudible. Does that mean the signals are encrypted? Thank you
I’m pretty sure it does, if it was unencrypted you’d hear it. The developer does have a version which will decrypt but he charges around $100 I think.

Can it support other hardware DLL example SDR-PLAY ??
I am unhappy with the fact that there are currently no up-to-date DSD applications which are open source or at least are supported on Linux. Decoding speeches helps people in discovering the exciting world of amateur radio and it should be a free and open thing. I also prefer to use Linux for radio stuff due to it's nature. I really hope that the author of OpenEar keeps his promise of making it open source as the software looks like it will offer a lot.

Great video, but I wonder if I'm missing something in the OpenEar install. I have tried running this both from the SDR# folder so its with the rtlsdr.dll driver, and in its own like shown here with a copy of that dll. I also installed Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio from the Microsoft website. I did not see a link to that in the github readme as indicated. Is it possible I downloaded the wrong microsoft file, and do you have the right like? Error on startup gives some memory error.
Might be an idea to take a look at the issue tab on the developers github page, might be some useful info there. Hope you get it working
@@TechMindsOfficial I actually got it working after all. I had wrongly assumed that I should be using the rtlsdr.dll file copied from my sdr# install. I followed your link to where the proper driver file was, and it started working once I copied that one in.

just downloaded the program. got it up and running but the waterfall is pretty much at a standstill and can not seem to find the floor. I am using the RTL-SDR RTL2832U dongle...did I just miss something?
If you click the top left button (lines) it should open a menu where you can adjust the waterfall levels.
do you use windows 7? if yes! it is known issue about software painting procedure on windows 7, under development for solve on next release

Looks like the sample-rate perhaps. The window in the video is 1 MHz wide, so I'm guessing the 1 is MSPS. Just a guess though.

The title of the video mentions P25, yet it wasn't discussed at all. Did I miss something?
Very well spotted, on the github page it states P25 support, unfortunately I do not have any P25 transmissions for me to test, so I couldn’t really mention it in the video.
@@TechMindsOfficial The GitHub page only mentions it in the description, but never again. I don't think P25 decoding is in this release. What a bummer, but worth keeping an eye on.
I'd rather see SDRtrunk incorporate a multi-mode tuner into their program, though (because I know their P25 decoding already works great!)
currently P25 is not on decoders of OpenEar but it is under development and debugging

it is step frequency that helps user to change main frequency with this step easily, when click spin control( be side of main frequency)

github page works but only temporally disabled tetra (because of some DMCA notes) , it will be added soon after corrected problem with new features

Project appears to be dead. This update was made 10 months ago, so they haven't resolved it (as of Oct 26, 2021):
"The software has been removed due to some license issues, I will try to fix it soon and reactivate the page"
Also, SDR# now has Simple DMR and Simple APCO plugins which directly decode those modes without doing all audio A/B input mess.

Why is everyone telling people they need an antenna tuned to specific bands to listen to them?? Your antenna only needs to be tuned to transmit, lets not bullshit...
