Our adventure begins at the local Seasonal Farmer's Market, where you can find everything from homegrown produce like tomatoes, green beans, potatoes, and corn to home-baked goods including cakes, pies, yeast rolls, and cookies. You’ll also discover locally grown flowers and handmade crafts. Support local farmers and artists!
Next, we visited the Matthews Living History Farm Museum, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the cultural heritage of the upper New River Valley around 1900.
After that, we took a scenic ride along the Blue Ridge Parkway to the Blue Ridge Parkway Music Center. This venue is not only a music venue but also a museum and visitor center that celebrates the music and musicians of the Blue Ridge Mountains through concerts, exhibits, and programs.

I do a lot of research into my family's history. We were farmers back in 1850. Imagine raising 8 to 12 children in that cabin. Having a child about every 2 years. That was a farmers wife's life. Cooking over a open fireplace or a wood stove. Washing clothes on a wash board. It was tough but that family was living "high on the hog" since they had a sleeping loft!
My wife and I kept our camper at Cool Breeze for a couple of months while we were building our retirement house. It has changed hands now but we loved our stat there.

Endangered sheep? Ewes with horns? Wow! First time hearing that. Makes you think of how many more animals could be on that list. I loved seeing that pig wallow in the mud. I must say I learned a lot.

Hey Brandi...we didn't know either, I had never heard that term. That lady was very knowledgeable and the farm was very interesting.
I had to Google to see where Galax was. I'm originally from the Northern Neck in the eastern part of the state. near the water. Galax is west near Roanoke. Maybe your travels will take you through our quaint towns of Kilmarnock, Lancaster, White Stone, Reedville on future destinations.
You never know where we might end up. We have never been to any of these towns so we will see.
I guess that pizza counts as "pie" lol. This area looks pretty laid back. A good place to stop.
