Dear Luise, you do not have to explain yourself to anyone. We are privileged that you choose to share your world (and your wonderful complex brain) with us and those who criticise are missing something and it’s sad that they feel it necessary to do so.
You do what you do 😂😂. Congratulations on your well deserved 40k and May all your tears be happy ons 😅. Caroline ❤x

LUISE, my dear, it is my understanding after watching you for over a year now that you made personal choices as you used the holz product line along the way and found them to be a fit to your quality and style in your art creation. Your love for them was shared as you expressed your joy when sharing your emotion with us while creating in your videos. The fact that Tim contacted you after realizing your commitment to his product line and offered a business relationship with you was a gift well deserved. As a representative for these products it would be expected that you would use them in your art. The only problem anyone should have is if you promoted them and didn't believe in them. Anyone who has followed you has watched you grow? You have shared so much of yourself personally , your relationship with Barbara and this community is without question. Never let anyone make you feel you owe an explanation. You were right to say that their time could be better spent creating in a positive way. And believe me I need all the colors. MAWH

Luise, I have just finished watching this video & felt I needed to say 2 things to you. First, of all, I have never felt that you were pushing us to buy a certain supply to recreate what you have shown us. Secondly, thank you for all your efforts in producing these helpful videos. To me, you are an inspiration.

I agree 💯. The "why" and the "what" are up to the individual artist. And yes, we are all artists just at different things. Love your creativity and I'm so glad you share it with us, Luise❤

You are so generous! Thank you so much for your gorgeous papers and wonderful creativity. You really light up my life.
I had to chuckle. Barbara accidentally said "brayed furlap " again the other day. So funny. She has tried so hard to change this brain hiccough . I love her great giggle and hope she continues to allow her uniqueness.
The word nocturne means night and is pronounced knock/turn.
A "real artist" does not create from a dark and empty room. A "real artist" creates from a rich inner world in an intimate relationship with the outer world so that the dichotomy of inner and outer dissolves and in the flow of creating becomes one. I am sceptical about Lydia's comment. I don't believe in criticism, constructive or otherwise. I think criticism comes from a person who thinks they know better than you, that they are one up. Lydia's comment is a disguised objection to you making money from promoting Tim's Ranger products. I completely understand your revelation in reply to Lydia and admire your authenticity. Asking why is a futile question as there could be a thousand, million of answers. Your heart speaks the truth my lovely and you have the right to earn a living from your talents . What I love about you is that in the need to monetize you do not compromise yourself in any way.
Many blessings from me in Aotearoa New Zealand ❤

Luise, once again you have inspired us with a creative idea for making tags. AND...your "Luise chat" is spot on! Over and over (in your videos) you say, "here's what I'm using today...but, use what you have - use my idea and your own imagination to create YOUR OWN art." Thank you for generously sharing your art, talent, ideas, processes, and encouragement. We have learned so much from you!!! You are one of the most prolific TH-cam artists that I know of...amazing! Luise, you are the sweetest, most sincere person who shares not just your art skills, but your stories, so much of your personal life, your heart! You are so encouraging to your viewers, always suggesting alternative products and being considerate of everyone’s circumstances. Your feel like a friend even though I will never meet you, I am filled with joy when you are happy and excited, I do not expect you to make art to please me, I am the viewer, I do not expect you to have a full line of my favourite mediums, you are incredibly creative with Ranger products and Tim Holtz products so you should use them! Look how far you have come with them long before you became a collaborator, now I am sure it is easier for you to acquire more of them to complete your stash. Perhaps Lydia is trying to say that she is afraid you will lose your individuality as an artist and she worries that she is losing your uniqueness! The problem is, as creatives we tend to grow out of what we do in the beginning and we evolve. That is better than standing still, in my opinion! You do you, I adore you as a person and I am so happy for your accomplishment of 40K subscribers, congratulations! I agree that there is so much discourse in the world, we need to be kind, encouraging and grateful for what we have! 💕🙏🏼🇨🇦

Thanks to your reflective "Luise talk", I have thought about what exactly this community does for me. I would not have been with this community for all these years if it didn't provide me with what I need to realize the creative part of my life. My creative heart is not only satisfied by the unbelievable inspiration I get from you (and others), it sings a duet with my soul, and when they are in harmony, I am in creative heaven. I can only imagine how much work goes into inspiring us along our creative paths, but please know that I watch every video with gratitude!! There, end of "Cathy talk". 😘 PS...thank you for the gorgeous Lazy Masterboards freebies! I'll be awake all night happily thinking how to create my 4 tags.

Four years ago after my husband died, I started watching your videos. I was a wreck and needed inspiration for something to do. Watching you create showed me how art gave me hope and I'm sure to many others. In many of your first videos you did not have the products you use now - and yet you created every day with what you had. I loved that. Congrats on 40K subscribers. We all have lots of love for you and your reaching across the ocean and recording your videos in English so that we can be inspired.

LOVE you and your videos, Luise! Congratulations on 40k!!
I wanted to mention the quote you used because it has been so helpful in my own healing journey. The complete quote from Maya Angelou is “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.” To me, it is not shaming - but freeing. It says that I did the best I could. I didn't know what I didn't know. But as God and good humans helped me see, I could make better choices... healthier and wiser.
One of my wisest choices is following you! I celebrate your successes! Applause, confetti and chocolate cheering you on here in Ohio, USA.

Oh, Luise, I wish I were there to give you a big hug! Your explanation was very eloquently spoken, and I agree with you. I once had a teacher that gave the class an assignment to write a one page essay. When someone asked, "What should we write about?" the teacher replied, "Write about whatever you want to." We were not given even a theme, or a subject to begin with. It's the same with being a papercraft artist. We need some sort of starting place, or we're as you said, sitting in a dark room with just a piece of paper and a pencil. That's where the people like Tim Holtz help us with our creativity. All they do is get us started.

Congratulations on 40K! What a cool idea for a "lazy" masterboard! And thanks for the freebies, always appreciated! Thanks for all your crafting inspiration!
I don't think it's strange to stick with one brand when you find one you like how their products work. And Ranger has a good balance of quality and price compared to a lot of other brands out there - especially for us self-taught creators. And using what you love that inspires you to create is never a bad thing! And I feel like you do a great job of telling us viewers to use what we have or giving alternatives (like cutting out shapes if you don't have a die cut) to help us still create with you and not feel left out. That little effort on your part is definitely seen and appreciated by a lot of us 💜.

I love the things he creates and suddenly I have the amazing gift of seeing your creative talent on Tim's videos and your positive comments in the chat. I just wanted you to know how much I love the things you submit as part of his design team. You have grown so much artistically in the past year. I also am just blown away that you take the time and effort to speak to your English speaking community in English. You are amazing. Congratulations for your 40K subscribers. I understand and agree with your comments about Lidia’s questions. I am a professional interpreter practitioner, and a key skill is asking “critical questions” for the purpose of ensuring accurate conveyance of meaning between the parties. “Critical questioning” is very often misunderstood to mean “negative criticism” which is far from true. That said, some people do ask intentionally hurtful questions, which are best ignored. This has been the most helpful video I have seen. Your points about color, shapes, and texture have helped me to dismantle fears about covering things up, and helped me to understand how to create depth. As a long time free motion machine embroiderer, I am looking forward to using my many boxes of beautiful threads and fabrics to paper collage.

Sometimes a product serves as a prompt for the creative experience. Ideology products have offered so many people a rich vocabulary of images and techniques to explore their personal creativity. Much like a writer using a prompt to start a story, no two people would ever write the same story. The commercial success of Tim Holtz products continues as solid, concrete evidence of how he connects with our contemporary human experience.
Congratulations, Luise, for achieving such a wonderful connection with 40,000 hearts!

Congratulations Luise! I can tell you that I subscribed to your channel because I get so much inspiration from you and you ARE an artist. I also love your sense of humor and the fact that you can laugh at yourself. I'm fairly new to junk journaling and even as a beginner, I never copy exactly what someone demonstrates because as you said, once you have a starting point the ideas start flowing and I think of what I have to substitute or change and I make it my own and I'm so proud and happy when I finish! Truthfully, the process is so much fun and relaxing that it almost doesn't matter if I'm not completely thrilled with the end result. Almost! I'm not sure that my sisters "get" what I do but that's OK and it doesn't bother me or hurt my feelings at all. Thanks for all you do (and for the discount code). I plan on making my first masterboards and I'm looking forward to the next videos.

How else would anyone else be able to see it? Please don’t let those who don’t appreciate you, or who may be jealous of your success, make you feel bad about yourself or your art.

Hi Luise, thank you for your heartfelt words about inspiration. My heart went out to you with your honesty and passion. I lived in Canada for 23 years, and I had to leave the snow, as it was there for six months, and in February for the last years it was -48C to -51C, skin freezing! So I was so happy to move home to Ireland. I discovered Tim Holtz in Canada and watched him non-stop for years. His ideology products are amazing and when I go to Michaels over there, I stock up! He takes HIS inspiration from old photographs, vintage tickets and more. He also contacts artists where he sees there works, and adds them to his products with their art. So he takes his inspiration from many sources. Best wishes, Deirdre from sea strand in Ireland

I have watched your videos for as long as you’ve been doing this, and shared much joy and laughs with you because of it. But this makes my heart so sad; that you’ve been put in a position to feel like you have to explain yourself. I get the lady’s genuine question, nothing wrong with those, it just makes me sad because it’s stepping on the joy that paper crafting and mixed media bring you. I love your style, as well as Barbara’s which is quite different, but sometimes I think the main reason I keep watching both of your channels is because of the unspoken things; like the fact that you’re both real, and respectful, you’re genuine, and know how to actually be a friend to others (something I don’t have in my life). Thank you for all you give, and for being you. God bless☀ 💕☀

Thank you so much, Luise! Not only are you an extraordinary artist, but you are so generous in sharing yourself with us. It was helpful to me to hear how you conceptualize your relationship with the Tim Holtz products. I have been worried that in tying your self to one provider you have somehow limited your creativity. But now I see it actually gives you a base from which to enhance and expand your creativity. Thank you for helping me to see into your world a bit more.

First off, congratulations on 40,000 subbies. I'm not at all surprised and know your channel will only get bigger and bigger. As far as the products you use, as Tim says, "You do you." Being on Tim's design team, it only makes sense that you use his products. I personally love the Ranger products and find them to always be great quality. For me, Luise, Barbara and Tim Holtz are the best and give me the most inspiration. Yes, it is sad that we feel the need to explain ourselves, you don't have to.

Luise, thank you so very much for sharing your thoughts and explanation. It is so refreshing to listen to someone be so very honest and forthcoming. I love all that you do, and even though it is not exactly my style, I can appreciate the artistry that goes into each project that you create. I do get inspired watching you and learning new techniques and products that can be helpful to obtain those techniques. All the best to you and your continued success. I know that the 50k is right around the corner for you and beyond. Blessings always.

Oh, Luisa you are an artist, artist look for inspiration everywhere. You can not create with paper and pencil. Most people would love to have all Tim Holtz items, but You Tube is not my business so we can see you try them out and create new ways to use them and chose what we can really use and afford but we need to look beyond that and see we can create with what you already owe. Shop your own craft room. So Thank You for entertaining and inspiring me create my own. Congratulations that you are part of Tim Holtz team, so enjoy what you love. If all these people who criticize don’t have a You Tube channel, it’s a full time job. I can sit at home and enjoy your videos and others, so THANK YOU 🎉🎉🎉🎉 🥰🥰🥰🥰

I am jumping on the MASTERBOARD TAGS bandwagon. I have posted my four cards on the FACEBOOK platform under the first 40K party post. My cards were made with intention and your inspiration. I used my eco dyed papers as backgrounds and layered letters and feathers. I machine sewed and added pictures of people from my personal realm. I splashed with black and gold. Although the shine of the gold is hard to see in the pictures the colour was inspired by the Goldenes Dashl. Your generous gift of the Lazy Masterboard digitals were used to create hole enforcers, buttons and backed on to the tags. I am sure with your eye for detail you will see the words that are scrambled on each card. Thanks so much for all you do to keep me inspired, entertained and busy....lol

Well said Luise! Those who have been watching from the beginning have seen the struggle and the work you have put in. I think it’s great that you have found product that works for you. What I “would” like to hope for you is that enough of your creative genius shines through that you can become a signature designer for Tim Holtz. Simon, Dina, Dyan…all of them use Tim’s products but their individuality stands above even the wonderful products they use. So please continue…but don’t forget the trips to Italy (for example)…what stencil could you design from a window, or tile, or cobble street? What stamp could you design, and maybe hand cut from foam or eraser, that will remind you of a flower, or a face you see in your travels? I think that might be what Lidia was asking. Yes, please use Tim’s products and definitely share with us the dried flowers from your father! Such an inspiration! 40K! Way to go!

Congratulations on your 40k! Whatever medium or products you use, you are a true artist and you are a constant source of inspiration for me and clearly for many many others. No matter what materials you use, you manage to manipulate them just in a way that they become Luise-style. - Yes, I think I can see what is a 'Luise' in a row with creations whih are made with the same materials 😊 - You are right: you do not have to justify why you use what you use. Please just keep creating and spreading the joy it gives to you, because we can feel your enthusiasm and love for what you do. And that is the most important.
Thank you for being you and sharing your love for junk journal art ❤

Answering the question the lady asked. I totally agree with your answer. I have started telling people who ask that I am an artist. Thankyou, because that acknowledgement gives my mind the freedom to choose what I do, how I do it and why I do it. It gives me purpose every day. I watch several different artists for their particular style of art or creativity, or the way they present their video, maybe it's their sense of humour or the way they speak. I watch their videos because in one way or another, they inspire me, motivate me, move me, to create for myself. Not to copy but to find or explore the possibilities within me to bring my art to the surface, no matter what that is. I am not a grunge artist, but I'm still inspired by you because of how you get the end result. It is not so much of doing it exactly like you do, but learning processes and tools to get the desired look. I am able to look at my collection of tools and I know what I can create using them. You, Luise, have been most instrumental in teaching me that. Thank you.
    😃🥰❤
You explain things very clearly. I appreciate that you do. I am patient to listen and learn. Since I started junk journaling nearly one year ago, I have learnt more about my artistic talent by watching several junk journal artists than I have in 5 years of tertiary art courses. And I will keep on learning by watching these videos and taking short art courses, sometimes free courses. I watch people from all over the world. One day, I will share my work, soon, but for now, I am gracious to be accepted by my kindred spirit sisters and brothers, creating and learning through their sharing their art, craft, knowledge, abilities and personality with me.
Luise, thank you for being You!!❤😃💯

    Luise
Thank you for sharing your artistry with us and letting us into your heart and your life so freely. One especially wonderful thing I love is the sharing of your emotions- when you have a little inside joke with Barbara or Tim Holtz you share it and let us enjoy it as well.
Mainly I want to say that you show us magic every time you share a craft or create an experiment with any product. It has been great following your artist growth which includes designing for Tim Holtz Brand. He said so many amazing things about your magical qualities during his Halloween video and I agree with all of them.
I applaud your trying to explain why you use his products to create- they are the most intriguing craft products available today- your nature is kind and you want others to understand but sometimes they just can’t or won’t be able to do so. Keep doing what you do and being your authentic self and it won’t be long until you have 80,000 viewers. I watch some other junk journal crafters on a limited basis but I watch every video you make (in English ). You are a super talent and I’m so glad you are you. Keep being magical!

I agree that constructive criticism can help us to improve but quite honestly we can all make choices with our lives, some good some not so good but for viewers to criticise the way you do things or the products that you use is not necessary. If they don't like what you're doing they can choose not to watch what you do. I don't understand why people feel the need to judge others. We all love you Luise so please don't let them upset you. There is a famous quote in the US, sometimes attributed to Mark Twain, a writer, that goes something like, "Don't let schooling interfere with your education." The meaning is that you can get an education, for example, teach yourself to become an artist, without an educational or training program. That a traditional education is not the only way to learn something. I think this can also transfer to specific supplies, like when you mention Ideology gives "voice" to the ideas in your brain. Those same ideas may come to life via other supplies and for other people because there are many ways for a final project to come together. There is no one correct way to create or to be an artist. 😘
